Love a lot of the tracks from the past few days including King, David Bowie and Jacko!

I also owned Bad on vinyl so was a bit frustrating when he released Leave me Alone from the CD version of the album, which few had at the time

It's a good song but almost like a Bad leftover, I mean, was nt good enough to be on the main album, so Im ok with it being a #2 rather than a #1

The fifth and final Bros track to appear on this rate- this was their first hit and the only one to get points from us.

The second Kylie track to leave the rate as she appears not to be doing as well as some hoped. It was stuck behind the 2nd biggest seller of the year despite leading the midweeks.

His biggest hit and a fave with Bjork clearly.

Sign Your Name is def Trent’s signature hit, mad his follow up was such a flop albeit it took him long enough!

That would have been his Neither Fish Nor Flesh album, apparently so-named because of his nickname of Terence "Trout" D'Arby courtesy of Smash Hits! I actually preferred his later singles, most of all Let Her Down Easy from 1993.

Sign Your Name is good, if flattered somewhat by it's position, When Will I Be famous is disposable fun pop and very flattered by it's position, and Kylie's is catchy production-line SAW and very very flatttered by it's position. Better than Bowie? I suggest otherwise though I may have been influenced by someone in the house playing the album over and over incessantly at the time.... :teresa:

oh you guys, poor Sign Your Name... deserved much much. better than this early exit

personally it's one of the best tracks of the 80s and so was his debut album

the 4 singles from his album were all 11/10 songs

I'm actually shocked at how little love the song got, almost tied with another of Kylie's subpar 80s song that SAW probably did in 30 minutes (and it shows!)

Surprised Got To Be Certain is higher than Wouldn't Change A Thing.

Also surprised Buzzjack prefer Bowie's China Girl to his brilliant Absolute Beginners. Hopefully Modern Love will be his highest single here.

Sign Your Name acrossssssssssssssssssssssss my heart. No, thank you Terence.

Didn't get around to voting in this but enjoyed reading through it so far.

Leave Me Alone and Sign Your Name are great and i'm also surprised that China Girl has beaten Absolute Beginners.

Phil Collins’ least preferred 80s No 2 exits the rate and was taken to No 1 16 years later by Mariah and Westlife. It’s our first track to attract 5 voters!

As near as she ever got to No 1, this spent a fortnight at No 2 but those two weeks were non-consecutive as the record moved 2-3-3-2, highly unusual in the 80s.
