Abracadabra is really good.

I wonder if the last remaining Kylie number 2 single will be top 50. Probably not. :(

All of those, bar one (sorry Kylie, fun but not in the same league), I really rate, Shame China Girl couldnt get a bit higher, but Modern Love is also fab so no grumbling they are on a par. I would up the number of good singles to 4 though, albeit in a less-good dance mix of a good Giorgio Moroder Cat People minor hit from the year before for Bowie. Obviously he should have stuck with RCA's more creative arrangement and not had to justify EMI's investment with commercial success, but he signed on the dotted line for the cash and the album is a bop anyway.

In the only chart that counts (mine) Bowie's 83 hat-trick of monster hits all topped my charts, so did Abracadabra. Lionel came close, ditto Adam.

As its jubilee ( and I'm away on Saturday so no post) you can have double helpings today which will take us to the top 50 for the weekend....
I wish 'Abracadabra' had been The Steve Miller Band's #1 hit instead, what an earworm.

THIS! The Joker is alright but nothing special imo but Abracadabra is brilliant!

This was their biggest hit though of course Climie wrote a chart topper for George Michael and Aretha Franklin.

One of the biggest movie tracks of the decade and dropped out of the top 40 before climbing again into the top 10 on the UK release of the film months later.

I'd probably have voted for 'It's Raining Men', overplayed yes but a camp classic. Love some 'Ghostbusters' as well and the Lionel song is also pretty good. No doubt would probably like the Erasure song if I have ever heard it

You could always spend 3 minutes listening to the song before commenting :basil:

PS Stop is really nice but no Sometimes. Never been keen on Ghostbusters. The Climie Fisher song is my favourite of those 3.

I would have voted for Ghostbusters on musical merit if I didn’t have such an aversion to Halloween parties

It took advantage of a slow January sales period but this remains as close as he got to No 1.

A US chart topper which nearly repeated that feat over here- it’s not “Hazard” sadly

Tomorrow will see the last songs to miss the top 50 posted along with the recaps! And i'll lose two of my top 3!

Surprised love changes everything is so high in the list, it is typical late 80s MOR and I am not a big fan of love songs but its good for what it is and the chorus is very memorable so would have given it points had I voted!

What is Love is even better though, production and chorus is brilliant!
