Oh, D.I.S.C.O is quite the camp classic, wasn't miles off my votes.

There's a certain song I'm pretty sure just me has saved from 00 and I make no apologies for it xx

Yes, I think D.I.S.C.O. is the best of those.

Of the rest, More Than I Can Say, What You're Proposing, Daddy's Home and Just An Illusion are all decent songs.

Nothing too sad but a few I gave 6/10, where 8 or higher scored points - More Than I Can Say, DISCO and Joanna. Some other horrors for which I gave 1 or 2/10 that fully deserved their result - Stars on 45 vol 2, Daddy’s Home, Blue Christmas, Hole In My Shoe and The War Song.

Gezza didn’t follow through on his promise to ignore votes for The Birdy Song then. :kink: Chez must be referring to either that or Agadoo.

sorry I missed voting, I might have chucked some points to Imagination (lead singer Leee John once gave me a hug and a kiss in a club when I recognised him and told him I was a fan, so how could I not?!) and DISCO was fun. Shaky's best early record gets zero points puzzlingly, (Crazy) and I like Quo and Wham and especially Culture Club. The lyrics might be a bit banal but I like the sentiment - we were smack bang in global Cold War nuclear armageddon anxiety at the time.

NO 140- ZERO POINTS (CONT'D)

That Ole Devil Called Love Alison Moyet (#2 for 2 weeks in April 1985 behind “Easy Lover” by Philip Bailey & Phil Collins)

qdz4ekw.jpg

Moyet’s closest brush to No 1 as a soloist is this cover which missed out on any points.

Starting Together Su Pollard (#2 for 1 week in February 1986 behind “When The Going Gets Tough” by Billy Ocean)

6Odmo5A.jpg

Linked in with a BBC TV documentary helped this to No 2 but yes it was a……..moment

On My Own Michael McDonald & Patti La Belle (#2 for 3 weeks in May 1986 behind “The Chicken Song” by Spitting Image)

NoYwApa.jpg

Rather unfairly getting nul points as it’s decent song and much better that the track which prevented it making No 1 but hey ho

Can't Be With You Tonight Judy Boucher (#2 for 4 weeks in April/May 1987 behind “La Isla Bonita” by Madonna and “Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now” by Starship

Ggfmblw.jpg

For a song which spent a month at No 2 in the 80s this is now largely forgotten! Not unreasonably so IMO

Under The Boardwalk Bruce Willis (#2 for 2 weeks in July 1987 behind “It’s A Sin” by Pet Shop Boys)

pXkiD3x.jpg

Yes THAT Bruce Willis. A star in the UK mainly (at this point) thanks the TV show “Moonlighting” before his film career took off.

Wipeout Fat Boys & Beach Boys (#2 for 1 week in September 1987 behind “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley)

gOoscw6.jpg

The appeal always eluded me so I’m glad that you all seem to agree with me!

Full Metal Jacket Nigel Goulding & Abigail Mead (#2 for 2 weeks in October 1987 behind “Pump Up The Volume” by M/A/R/R/S and “You Win Again” by Bee Gees)

38hBqEp.jpg

Another track that is a head scratcher now but its link to a movie I guess is the explanation here.

When I Fall In Love Rick Astley (#2 for 2 weeks in December 1987 behind “China In Your Hand” by T’Pau and “Always On My Mind” by Pet Shop Boys

4q54FZw.jpg

The hottest popstar in the UK at the time this came out- it was primed as a Xmas No 1 until the PSB’s stole the show- now we don’t care for it

Drop the Boy Bros (#2 for 4 weeks in March/April 1988 behind “Don’t Turn Around” by Aswad and “Heart” by Pet Shop Boys

YCJl14B.jpg

Another track that spent a month in the runner up spot and now largely forgotten. Top sensations of 88 of the year have four entries left.

The Twist (Yo Twist) Fat Boys & Chubby Checker (#2 for 2 weeks in July 1988 behind “I Owe You Nothing” by Bros and “Nothing’s Gonna Change My love For You” by Glenn Medeiros)

2qc8gkr.jpg

Goodbye Fat Boys as whoever they get to help them we turn our backs on.

Tramp Salt N Pepa (#2 for 3 weeks behind “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You” by Glenn Medeiros)

osv7NMK.jpg

I guess we’re only here for 1 side of this double A-side single.

Cat Among The Pigeons Bros (#2 for 1 week in December 1988 behind “First Time” by Robin Beck)

mhbx3Du.jpg

Ok make that three entries left as the boys Xmas 88 hit tumbles out- one of their better efforts in my book though

Silent Night Bros (#2 for 1 week in December 1988 behind “First Time” by Robin Beck)

LEBw4wR.jpg

Ok make that 2 entries left- this was a double A-side with “Cat” with a sequel promo to that song.

Miss You Like Crazy Natalie Cole (#2 for 1 week in June 1989 behind “Ferry Cross The Mersey” by Scouse Aid)

LGHLdey.jpg

Nat “King” Cole’s daughter almost got a chart topper herself but we’re unimpressed.

Best Of Me Cliff Richard (#2 for 2 weeks in June 1989 behind “Sealed With A Kiss” by Jason Donovan)

iqOeGwy.jpg

As the sleeve says this was Cliff’s 100th single and almost a chart topper except for Jason’s Spectacular new entry one place higher.

Too Much Bros (#2 for 1 week in July 1989 behind “You’ll Never Stop Me Loving You” by Sonia)

g0XM7gT.jpg

So it turns out that only one Bros No 2 single actually got any votes at all. This is largely rubbish though

Girl I'm Gonna Miss You Milli Vanilli (#2 for 3 weeks in October/ November 1989 behind “That’s What I Like” by Jive Bunny and “All Around The World” by Lisa Stansfield)

hW3PfkG.jpg

Maybe the stigma of the miming still abounds- or maybe this song just didn’t do it for us.

the only semi decent there is Drop the Boy

the first 3 Bros singles were good, then not so much

I like the sample in ‘Wipeout’ (and the earlier popular version by The Surfaris) but that version is pretty pointless.

Ouch Bros (although not complaining)

You did vote :D

hah! in that case I just didnt have enough spaces to vote for them all  A constant problem I have with voting for music :D

I really like that Alison Moyet track! Quite like Tramp as well.

Ones I agree are particularly awful - Starting Together, Can’t Be With You Tonight, Wipeout, Full Metal Jacket, The Twist, Silent Night & Best Of Me.

Gutted I didn’t get time to vote in this!

Love Inagination on TOTP and that Brit funk era in the early 80s!

Sorry I did actually mean to finally vote in one of these but unfortunately ended up slipping my mind, I'll try and keep up with the results though.

I think there are only a couple of songs among that list of 0 pointers that I've even heard and I'm not mourning any of them.

So Bros, I think, avoided the all zero by one set of votes. Let's see.
