Posted May 4, 20223 yr It's actually insane we've only got 10 days of Little Mix left. How are you guys feeling? I've been a fan since the very beginning and remember rooting for them on X Factor and wow, they've came so far and achieved so much. I'm so happy I finally got to see them live before their hiatus recently, such a great show. However, it is so sad knowing they'll be going on their break very soon. They'll be leaving such a huge gap in the British music industry. Even though I am sad, I am very excited to hear their solo music and I have hope they will return one day! May 4, 20223 yr Jesy's departure was the first sign, then the pregnancies, Greatest Hits album, and then the announcement last year. I had always put up an optimistic front, but I was preparing my mind. Not a huge shock anymore as I'm past that stage. I'm fairly looking forward to their solo stuff, but that's about it. Overall, they've done really well, and they ended it properly and maturely. I hope they return - they have every reason to return. But you never know
May 4, 20223 yr It’s so obvious how close they are though. If they are clever, they’ll do a Take That and get new albums out every 4 years ish while pursuing solo endeavours at the same time. I can’t say I’m particularly perched for solo music from any of them...
May 4, 20223 yr They deserve a break, they've been working so hard for a decade now. Give them time to recuperate, do their own thing and come back stronger than ever. I'm so excited for when they do comeback with rest, reflection and solo projects out of the way.
May 4, 20223 yr Honestly, I'm gutted. I watched them on X-Factor back in 2011 before I had even turned 18 years old. I listened to the MP3's of 'I'm Like A Bird' and 'Super Bass' while I sat anxiously outside my first Christmas temp job for HMV and remember being on Digital Spy Forums when Jesy was being absolutely slated for her physical appearance. This genuinely feels like a lifetime ago to me and reminds me of just how long this group have been in my life and how I have strong personal memories associated with each of their releases. I've never been an adult and not had Little Mix active and releasing music. Wings was played on college campus, How Ya Doin' was so many peoples voicemail message when I worked in my first cold calling job, Secret Love Song helped me through a very dark unrequited love experience I was suffering at the time, I worked night shift when Shout Out To My Ex premiered and I remember walking around the city centre at 3am playing it for the first time, Bounce Back came out after a major surgery and stanning and obsessing over that release and their switch to RCA gave me some excitement in a very mundane recovery, Sweet Melody going to number 1 brightened up a very dark and lonely lockdown week and Heartbreak Anthem became my song of the summer last year. They've just ALWAYS been there. They've always delivered bops and gave me something to look forward to. Talking about their music, videos, artwork, interviews, performances etc constantly has been a great source of escapism and a great interest for me. As much as I'm pissed off I got banned from Popjustice, the huge album threads there have been really fascinating to read over the years. It hurts even more because they're the last girl group of the sales generation. Girl groups just can't break out in the streaming era. Little Mix and Fifth Harmony were probably the last Western groups we'll see for a LONG time and that's heartbreaking. PS - It's really just incredible how everything worked out like it did. Four girls auditioning as solo artists, being put in seperate groups and then being put together as a 4 piece by the judges and not only clicking on a personality level (hilarious accents and voices, extremely down to earth, self deprecating jokes and no egos) but to harmonise so well, have their voices blend so well and to LOOK great visually. They're all the same bloody height too! Then not only do they win the X-Factor but they have a consistant run of sell out tours, top ten platinum singles and platinum albums for their entire career. Aside from a couple of duds (Word Up, Little Me and One I've Been Missing and I guess the Between Us singles) they've had smash after smash after smash. I've never saw anyone other than Ed Sheeran have so much hits. They were just perfect. They ticked every box. They could sing better than other girl groups, they could outperform them, they had more international success than most (besides Spice Girls), they were likeable and hilarious and full of personality in interviews, they had a great image, they managed to last twice as long as most other groups and they managed to have that bit of cultural impact and connection with the public that so many other artists failed to achieve. I mean, Jesy leaving the group was a huge news story and got millions of likes on Instagram. Leigh and Perrie's pregnancy announcements crossed a million too. Jesy's Insta with Nicki was on the 6 o clock news! I don't think a girl group will ever achieve what they did. Their career has been beautiful. Truly amazing being a fan of them and I'm going to miss them.
May 4, 20223 yr Further down the line I'm going to miss Little Mix but for now them choosing this moment in time to call it a day has provided a surprising source of comfort. This is because my cat, born in November 2011, unexpectedly passed away last week and during this painful early grieving stage I'm clinging on to a lot of random things like dates and memories. One of these is that November 2011 reminds me of sitting down to watch Little Mix's series of X Factor every week - so the very beginning of them as a group. 14-year-old me started 10 years of loving my cat and following Little Mix at the same time and now they are saying goodbye simultaneously - of course I'll always love and treasure both though. It's really hard to explain - but knowing she was here for every single release, while I'm dreading doing things for the first time without her by my side, is a comfort as this chapter of Little Mix is also closing - so no "first Little Mix song without her here" unless they reunite down the line, when my heart has hopefully healed a bit with time. Raw grief aside it's going to feel so weird to not experience any activity from them as a group after 10 years of solid releases - that's such a long time for a girl-group. When they started out I was watching X Factor with my family for some light relief away from GCSEs - I remember discussing how good their 'Don't Let Go (Love)' performance was one day with my best friend at school too. Their journey was a joy to watch as they really found their feet and defied the previous joke reputation that girl bands had on the show. The following summer I recall hearing 'Wings' for the first time on holiday in Spain (at the internet café as my great grandma's flat had no WiFi!), approving of this proper debut sound and being happy that it had scored them another #1. Remember the days of held back releases?! Anyway, 'DNA' then came out and I was mesmerised by that song and video, that fully got me on board and is still my favourite of theirs. I received the accompanying album for Christmas and loved it - I was their exact target audience as a teen girl and ate up all the empowering anthems. Then in 2013 I got to see them live for the first time at a festival-type event and it cemented how talented they were as performers for me, if it wasn't already obvious. That year also gave us 'Move' which I was obsessed with - I so did not expect that song structure from them! The 'Salute' album was a great change of direction. I think I was a bit distant from the 'Get Weird' era initially as I wasn't huge on 'Black Magic' and was starting Uni so was very busy with all of that - but I remember being pulled in after getting around to the album and falling in love with 'Lightning', then finding the 'Hair' video so much fun. I decided then that I wanted to see them live on their own tour so waited until the Glory Days era rolled around and booked tickets - what excellent timing, with that turning out to be their imperial phase! Well, minus the part where Jade wasn't well at my tour date. What a time that was to be a fan though *.* 'LM5' was then a huuuuge comfort album for me as it came out while I started full time work and struggled with the transition - I associate that and Ariana's 'thank u, next' with helping me to get through the first few months. 'Confetti' then reminds me of the fun pop music I was clinging on to during lockdown (alongside the likes of 'Future Nostalgia' and 'Chromatica') - loved watching The Search too, plus in general their interviews are a good pick-me-up. They've been a big part of my my teen years, very early adult years and the first half of my 20s. I was a huge Girls Aloud fan as a kid and was into Sugababes too and they picked up where both of those left off, as another fantastic chart-dominating girl-group. The thought of 0 girl-groups in the chart becoming the norm saddens me (imma need FLO to break through ASAP). Their success, carried over to the streaming era, has been phenomenal here. They soooo deserve a break at this point and I wish them all the best going forward, will definitely continue to follow them!
May 5, 20223 yr Honestly, I haven't yet processed it properly... It's wild to me. I'm fully expecting it to hit this time next week though as we get closer to their last tour date as a group (for now etc..) Their success as a group has been insane to witness. Especially for a pop act of their nature (even ignoring the fact it's a girl group). I've enjoyed following their career as a group for the last 10+ years so, SO much. They're an essential part of my music listening for me. There's a sense of comfort and enjoyment I get from listening to their music that I don't find anywhere else. They usually have songs for every kind of mood I'm feeling so I usually use them as my go to, so it's going to be weird not having anything new as a group from them for a while after being fed so consistently for the last Decade. They're one of like a handful of acts that I get so excited about when it comes to hearing about them performing on a TV show or something. I just know that they'll deliver in whatever capacity they can. I'm not sure they've had an "awful" performance on TV and they absolutely knocked it out of the park and THEN SOME with their big 3 BRIT awards performances. It's a real shame we didn't get a medley from them this year to close out an insane career for them. I'm going to miss them so much and I just know seeing them on Tuesday is going to be a big emotional rollercoaster and I suspect that's when it'll hit. My favourite group of all time! I'm so pleased that it's ended like this (in terms of going on tour and then calling it a day rather than doing the tour and then suddenly announcing it's over etc.. or something). It's one of the most professional "break ups" from a big group that I've seen, personally. Also, I'm so sorry for your loss Jade! :( </3

May 5, 20223 yr It doesnt feel real yet as they are still together and we have an album doing well in the chart, but when the tour ends and the greatest hits drops off it will become more real,
May 6, 20223 yr I think the way events have unfolded will ease fhe blow. Had this been after LM5 when they were literally everywhere then it would have felt like a whiplash. But with lockdown followed by Jesy leaving followed by maternity leave which led to a year of zero promotion, I feel I've been weaned off of a bit. They've done one performance since Jesy left officially and before the tour and it's their shortest tour and their first in three years so it doesn't feel like they're going to suddenly vanish when they've actively been slowing down.
May 6, 20223 yr Incredibly sad but looking at things positively it seems the perfect time. I know we had the two last singles flop but they have ended on a massive high! Sweet Melody getting to number 1, Heartbreak Anthem blowing up, Kiss My doing well and lastly the tour which has definitely solidified why they have been so successful here 10 years on! Jesy leaving, Perrie and Leigh having children it really is time they had a break and start a new chapter. I’m still incredibly gutted that they didn’t just tone down Little Mix for a while though, releasing solo stuff and new Little Mix singles (They could of smashed even more records especially with a couple more dance tracks like Heartbreak Anthem (Tiësto would have been amazing!) It’s starting to become really real - Years on they may never return or when they do it could just be a tour with only a couple of new tracks and it’s likely they won’t get a chart hit again which is pretty devastating. I think it’s worse because it does spell the end of Girlbands (Right now anyway) and it’s very sad that for as long as I remember we’ve always had an active girlband. I’m so excited for the last few days, seeing them and then the livestream I’m going to soak it all in!
May 6, 20223 yr Looks like it won’t be for too long! “Little Mix vow they WILL reunite and say ‘we can’t live without each other’ in their LAST interview before hiatus“ https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/18478...terview-hiatus/ Edited May 6, 20223 yr by Dynasty.
May 11, 20223 yr The odds they defied is something truly remarkable. When you think of the politics involved in the X Factor and how they managed to manoeuvre through that and actually go on to win is an achievement in itself. To then to go on to have a career spanning a decade with sell out arena shows and huge hits is something else entirely. I do think they were deserving of more global success but that was out of their hands and more down to the lack of push from their team/record label. It's a niggle I'll always have because you cannot tell me the likes of 'Secret Love Song', Touch' & 'Sweet Melody' shouldn't have dominated worldwide. But the girls did all they could and have worked so hard. Can't wait for Saturday!
May 12, 20223 yr i'm going to the friday show at The O2 and quite intrigued... Having seen every show of theirs since 'Get Weird', I'm slightly on the fence about it... besides one outdoor show in Greenwich that was truly awful ("are you ready to get down and dirty?" they asked to an audience who were mainly 11), their consistantly quite enjoyable. TBH i probably wouldn't actually go had I not bought these tickets as a gift for someone and then they announced their split.
May 12, 20223 yr They have done so many amazing things and knocked down so so many barriers and it’s honestly been amazing to watch. For me personally, I feel like I’ve done a lot of the ‘grieving’ or missing them over the past year, what with the line up change and so I’m just happy that we got 10/11 years worth of performances and content to look back on. I hold out hope that they will reunite a few years down the line and deliver the amazing album that’s inside of them too.
