Welcome to Turin for the 66th Eurovision Song Contest! We're in Italy this year following Måneskin's victory in Rotterdam last year with 'Zitti e buoni', catapulting them to international stardom! The Sound Of Beauty is our slogan, with Alessandro Cattelan, Laura Pausini and Mika (yes, that Mika) as our hosts.

Tomorrow night is the 1st semi final, followed by another on Thursday, both looking for 10 qualifiers to join the Big 5 in Saturday's grand final. Tonight 50% of the result will be decided by the national juries, with the other 50% coming from the televote during tomorrow night's live broadcast. You can vote if you're in one of the competing countries (+ France & Italy).

So get those flags out and let the Eurovision Song Contest begin!

Doesn’t feel real that this is happening tomorrow!

The fan sites usually have a livestream up where you can get an audio feed of the jury semi final to hear if there’s any major screw ups or games that have been raised which will be from 8PM UK time tonight.

Throwing ALL my weight behind TEAM ALBANIA in this semi final. Praying that 'Sekret' can get through, think it's emerged as my favourite of the year.

Not too fussed about a lot of songs in this one - I would like to see Switzerland, Denmark, Austria, Greece & Armenia qualify (& Norway purely for Ben!)

I am most looking forward to seeing Diodato perform on a Eurovision stage though. Such a shame he didnt get to perform this song (I think he would have finished 2nd)

Once again I've held my breath and not given any of these a listen yet (besides UK and Italy) so excited for tomorrow's proceedings to see what we're in for.

Eat Your Salad and Give That Wolf A Banana I wanna see qualify just for those song titles alone though.

Got my fingers crossed for my favourites Albania, Lithuania, Moldova and Austria, none of which I'm certain about, and Ukraine which I am. But bring it on.

have to plug that I'm appearing on some of these (ESCXtra), was on yesterday's dress rehearsal for example and it was great hearing that some, including many of my favourites, have raised their game from the rehearsals and appear more comfortable with their changed plans if applicable thanks to the cursed sun. I do not have press access but some of the others do, I'm just there to comment along.

I'll also be on today's family show and semi 2's jury final but there's lots of good livestreams every day following all the extra shows (dress rehearsal > jury show > family show) if you want to catch a bit of extra action and get an audio preview of how it's going.

Same here! 'Fai rumore' is a beauty

Ukraine, Greece and Norway are definite qualifiers whilst Slovenia, Bulgaria and Croatia are all DOA. Albania, Armenia and Netherlands are all pretty likely, would be really shocked to see any of these miss out. The rest I feel could go either way but I'm thinking Latvia will join Norway in being one of the viral runaways on social media, thus knocking out Moldova, I feel they've really missed the staging train this year. I agree with the sentiment that Denmark have qualified in tougher semis with worse songs and the running order does them well coming after Portugal & Croatia, provided people don't give up on it before we get to the chorus! Portugal & Iceland are very beautifully staged and the songs should have been jury catnip last night. Lithuania, Switzerland and Slovenia feel like they're going to be completely memory-holed between Latvia and Ukraine.

Ukraine, Greece and Norway all feel like dead-set for qualification because of obvious reasons with the song quality and staging talking points. I could see the Netherlands flopping a bit but we will see about the entire performance in the end because the preview seems a bit off to me. Albania is a huge banger and no doubt the public will vote for it. I heavily prefer her costume in the national final so some points may be deducted because of that. Portugal has appeal from the televoting and no doubt would score very high with the jury. Lithuania in Lithuanian has its own magic and appeal, and I could see both the jury and the public giving enough points for it to qualify. Austria highly depends on the vocal performance of Pia Maria on the night but the genre itself is hugely popular in the mainstream so I think it should sail through. Both Latvia and especially Slovenia are wildcards for me. Latvia is trending on TikTok a few weeks ago if not now and the lyrics are iconic on top of a decently produced instrumentation. My worry is with the jury vote here but I think the public vote should be enough to put Latvia through. I think a lot of people are sleeping on Slovenia but the staging has elevated the song a lot from the rehearsal footage, so I could see this be our surprise qualifier of the semi.

Meanwhile, Switzerland could surprise us with the staging but I'm not sure if the song itself would be strong enough to put Switzerland through. Glad they don't send this before Luca Hanni or else that would have been a sure non-qualifier. Bulgaria is catering to a very niche audience here so I don't expect it to be near a qualification spot. Moldova is quite unique but maybe a bit too alternative which might not be enough to secure a qualification. Croatia is a bit of a snooze fest especially following from a strong ballad previously. Denmark has a similar problem with Moldova being quite alternative and I'm not sure if the public could last until the mood change in the middle. Iceland could bore people as well especially sandwiched between two majestic or energy-draining songs. Finally, I think everyone may have made their mind up about the voting and Armenia may not be strong enough to be put into people's votes.

Semi-final one wishlist:

01. Albania: 'Sekret' by Ronela Hajati

02. Latvia: 'Eat Your Salad' by Citi Zēni

The astronaut in subwoolfer is TIX, he revealed himself taking of the helmet while NRK was filming him outside the arena. Looked kinda staged though😅

In terms of the borderlines, Portugal is the one I'm the most confident in that they could get through on jury votes alone. Latvia and Austria have elevated themselves in their performances enough to get through on the public vote and there's enough musicianship in there to not be completely mullered by the juries. My wildcard for the 10th place is Iceland since I think the juries will have lapped that up and I can see Denmark, Norway, Latvia, Lithuania and Netherlands all giving that a decent televote which should be enough to sneak in.

Lithuania have been the victim of "death by broken staging" but was always on the bubble. Moldova could sneak in but I think Latvia beats it in the "fun song" category. Denmark can probably get a middling score across both and I think Switzerland's possible jury edge will be evaporated in a semi with Greece, Portugal, Netherlands and Iceland in it for jury catnip.

Here for a good time! God I've missed this! Not heard everything but I'm rooting for Albania, Austria, Norway and Ukraine to get through and do well pre-performance!
Out of this year's songs I've only heard Italy and the UK so I'm going into the semis completely blind! Excited to see what comes up ^_^

Think will qualify

01. Albania: 'Sekret' by Ronela Hajati

02. Latvia: 'Eat Your Salad' by Citi Zēni

04. Switzerland: 'Boys Do Cry' by Marius Bear

06. Ukraine: 'Stefania' by Kalush Orchestra

08. Netherlands: 'De Diepte' by S10

10. Portugal: 'saudade, saudade' by Maro

13. Austria: 'Halo' by LUM!X ft. Pia Maria

15. Greece: 'Die Together' by Amanda Georgiadi Tenfjord

16. Norway: 'Give That Wolf A Banana' by Subwoolfer

17. Armenia: 'Snap' by Rosa Linn
