May 16, 20223 yr Yeah I don’t think Sam’s streams are quite high enough for #1 at the moment, particularly as he lost nearly 2 days at the beginning of the week. Having said that #3 in the mids before Sunday streams are even added is incredible and I fully expect him to climb to #2 in the next update. Harry’s numbers won’t be spectacular (55k or so) and with a combination of physicals and downloads he could still get there.
May 16, 20223 yr I think Sam chould close the gap on Harry by at least 2,000 tomorrow tbh especially with being ahead on almost every platform and strong digital sales. If he misses out on the top spot, I blame his label and the instrumental version of space man :frankie:
May 16, 20223 yr So hyped to see SPACE MAN in the Top 3 :cheer: Really hope it can stay there it climb. Snatch up the CDs everyone - https://eurostore.warnermusic.com/uk/artist...ace-man-cd.html Just bought it
May 16, 20223 yr Just ordered a copy of the “Space Man” CD single too, come on Sam! Also yay for Florence. There was a dread in the back of my mind that Kendrick might be ahead in the first update!
May 16, 20223 yr Does anyone know where you can buy the live version of Spaceman?, I brought a copy of amazon music but couldn't see a live version.
May 16, 20223 yr Just imagine how high Sam would’ve been if we’d have won Up in space, I presume... At least we've got a decent singles chart battle, it's been a long (long) time since the last of those.

May 16, 20223 yr Luude, Belters Only, Tiësto, Becky Hill (Run) and George Ezra (AFY) are the only songs I can think of that have gone to ACR. I do feel it’s too soon for Becky to go ACR
May 16, 20223 yr I’d love to see Sam at #1! Harry’s had his time and his albums out next Friday so will likely climb back or have a new track debut there so I’m all for Spaceman getting a week there. Also yes for Florence! Kendricks albums strong as well (well the tracks I’ve heard are) but I was hoping Florence would beat him in debut week as I’m presuming he’s going to hold up better after this week. Is she likely to stay ahead? I know she has physicals on her side but his streaming will be no doubt huge  Strong sales for the top 2 albums though suspect Little Mix could sneak top 5 again on albums following the high profile last streams and their strong streams in general for Between Us. EDIT: Just seen Florence’s last album was on 29K in the Monday update! So she’s stayed very consistent and has pretty much kept her fanbase very impressed at that even more so with how the physical markets failed off. I think this era has had more positivity surrounding it though but even with that I wasn’t expecting sales like this I was thinking more on the lines of 25- 30k for the whole week! May 16, 20223 yr 'Starlight' has a pretty big fall 5-12 although guess that's not steep enough for ACRl with the 3 Kendrick tracks and Sam Ryder. Lol at 'Peru' avoiding it yet again. I think 'Anything for You' has gone a bit early but then again 'Green Green Grass' could well be top 20 on Friday so still good for George. Edited May 16, 20223 yr by Smint
May 16, 20223 yr Surprised to find out the D-Block track isn't a Rae Sreummurd cover! Really like the original so thank God that they aren't poisoning it. Having said that and correct me if I'm wrong (I certainly don't know all their singles well enough to make doubly sure), I don't think D Block Europe have ever used a major sample or done a cover in any of their hits so far.
May 16, 20223 yr It would have been a shock if Kendrick was ahead of Florence on today's update, he doesn't have a physical release at all while Florence is mostly reliant on physicals so it was always going to be a case of if the gap was small enough for Kendrick to close it by the end of the week barring a complete collapse in Florence's physical sales (see also Iron Maiden vs. Drake). I think it could end up pretty close but leaning towards Florence probably being far enough ahead to hang on, especially as Kendrick's album is a bit light on obvious replayable songs so this isn't really the type of album that's going to have massive longevity on streaming. Just sad that one of them has to miss out on #1, both are clearly heading for sales that would be sufficient for #1 on most normal weeks and I don't think either of them are likely to climb to #1 at a later date if they don't get there this week. I suppose in a way it's probably better for Florence to get the #1 here as Kendrick will definitely be an easy #1 in the US at least, so this way they both get their #1 moment somewhere! Good to see that Florence's Monday midweek sales aren't too far down from her last album - there doesn't seem to have been a Monday update the week of Kendrick's last album release but he had 18.7k on Tuesday and 21.9k on Wednesday so I'd guess he's not much down compared to that either. Doesn't look likely we'll have any more Eurovision songs or Maneskin going top 40 this week then as they'll most likely fade away as the week goes on. A shame really and MCR will certainly miss out as well. Kalush Orchestra are actually a fair bit higher than Måneskin were in the equivalent Monday midweek last year (they were #90 in that update and ended the week at #17). Not expecting Kalush to get that high as I don't think they'll hold up nearly as well but their Spotify entry position is only 2 places lower than Måneskin's so I don't think it's impossible for them to rise into the top 40 even with numbers tailing off faster. Really like the original so thank God that they aren't poisoning it. Having said that and correct me if I'm wrong (I certainly don't know all their singles well enough to make doubly sure), I don't think D Block Europe have ever used a major sample or done a cover in any of their hits so far. Unless you count the fact that most of their songs sound like covers of their own previous songs... (indeed though I don't think they have yet joined the trend of using obvious old pop song samples).
May 16, 20223 yr Glad that Florence has some decent sales at the top spot with 30-35k looking likely and Kendrick performing week. Thought the Smile would be doing much better but think Apple is only heavily promoting it and the physical is were it’ll do well next month. Hope Spaceman gets to no1 to freshen the top spot up but not if Harry retakes it next week!

They're clearly a band who will mainly sell physicals.
May 16, 20223 yr Parlophone ought to put out the Eurovision version of Space Man - with the guitar solo
May 17, 20223 yr Sunday's Number Ones session (see separate thread) will include Babylon Zoo's Spaceman so it would be rather neat if Sam Ryder makes it on Friday
