I don’t think that chart has been revealed yet? The week before it was 98th, but it remains to be seen if she’s been overtaken by any albums and pushed out in this final 2023 week.

Did Tension make the T100 albums of the year? I remember disco was in the T40 so Tension has certainly underperformed in comparison.

At the end of the day, nothing from DISCO will be remembered in 10 years, Padam is a mega hit and has raised Kylie’s profile to the highest it’s been in years.

The numbers aren’t the best, but this era will stand the test of time.

I think PP will be a Kylie staple for years - she seems to have one from each era so far (Dancing, Magic, PP).

Disco will be remembered for different reasons. It was released during lockdown and had one of the highest weekly album sales of the year despite the fact the shops were closed. It reached number one in the albums and by doing so, Kylie became the first female artist to achieve a number one album in five consecutive decades. Padam has raised her profile for sure but singles don’t tend to generate much income for a record company these days due to the impact of streaming.

I had high hopes for tension been at least top 100 in the mids ;)

Would have been an ideal time for them to wheel out the webstore exclusive/updated version that they incorrectly but on streaming a few weeks ago.

Yes it would have been in ideal time, i would also assume album sales will be very low this week and an easy enough week to make the top 100 if pushed.

I'm really hoping those two tracks will become widely available properly eventually.

Surprised it’s not in the mids but I guess it’s another indication of how rubbish the physical market is and how streaming favours established albums with many hits/ best of albums.
^^ It’s a tough market without streaming or being part of the January sales, so many albums are getting a boost from both and some labels have been strategic in reducing ‘Best Of’ physicals to £5, knowing that it will help boost already strong streaming ‘sales’.

oh well.

i feel they have plans for it in 2024, otherwise they would be reducing everything for sales

Would they though? They didn’t go heavy on the reductions for Golden and Disco (and the website is still rammed full of full price Disco boxsets for £75 etc.,).

I think that as the physical market continues to decline a £9.99 or £5.99 priced CD is not going to change chart fortunes - of course it might add a few sales but won’t be a significant boost

Dermot Kennedys most recent vinyl album is £9.99 in the HMV sale but absent from the charts, people either want something or they don’t regardless of price.

A price reduction for an act like Kylie should be more successful than for Dermot but I totally agree, after the initial rush it’ll be trickle sales thereafter. Just look at Adele’s 30…CD and Vinyl hugely reduced and whilst it helped on top of solid streaming, people still don’t want to buy it despite her stature and previous success.
