Will be interesting to see the Vinyl sales for Tension, DISCO did 13.5K, surely Tension will be well over 20K with all the varients.

This is a great pop album, she never misses, easily her best since Aphrodite for me.

 

She's got the track selection right too as the Disc 2 songs - while all very good - don't feel integral to the main album for variety's sake - although I like them more than a couple of the tracks on Disc 1. I probably would have stuck 10 out of 10 on Disc 2 too and had a 10 track main album, but I appreciate the optics of it being track 10 :lol:

 

Aside from the first two singles, which are great, my other highlights are Hold On To Now, One More Time, You Still Get Me High, Vegas High and Story - all fantastic :wub:

 

The Hands and Green Light duo plus the presence of 10 Out of 10, stops it being a perfect album for me. But all are decent enough. Has she got some sort of prominent backing vocalist on the verses of Hands as it sounds nothing like Kylie :lol: Or she's got really good at accents suddenly.

My dreams that Tension could become Kylie's second No 1 album in Germany don't seem to be coming true. Tension is no. 3 on German iTunes and only no. 17 on German Amazon CDs. Anastacia is at the top of both charts and has done what I wanted from Kylie: promotion in Germany. Yesterday Anastacia was a guest on an entertainment show that had 1.21 million viewers and later on another one with even 2.13 million viewers, while Kylie has not been seen on German tv yet.

I liked Disco a lot and loved Golden but this album feels really packed with wall to wall gems - very commercial and very 'top of her game' sounding.

It is very commercial but with a solid kylie stamp.it has elements of aphrodute and disco in parts that work really well.

Just from one full listen, I think I still prefer 'Disco', but yes this is a really strong album. It does feel like there's a lot of 'Disco' in this album actually, just with a transition from the 70s to the 80s. Both have that feel-good energy running through them and there's certain sounds and vocal takes that feel similar.

 

My little friend at BMG who also has the inside track at ARIA (pun intended) has told me that "Tension" will debut at number 1 in OZ with the biggest first week sales this decade. The promotion in oz in the last 24 hours has been huge, without actually Kylie, but rather Kamille appearing live on multiple shows.

Interesting! Presumably the biggest was Adele's '30', but I can't find the figures for it.

What a trio 😍

Really love this album already, its always an event everytime the legendary Kylie Minogue releases an album. 'Tension' is ranked in my top 5 fave albums from Kylie behind 'Light Years', 'Fever' & 'Aphrodite'.

Apart from the singles my faves so far are 'Hold On To Now', 'Vegas High', 'Green Light' & 'Hands'.

'Hold On To Now' as to be the next single, followed by 'Vegas High' as single #4, that would be my ideal run of singles.
