Highly likely.

Be incredibly irresponsible of the hosts if not.

Just played the black vinyl for the first time…really good quality pressing and better quality packaging than the coke bottle one (though that one also plays beautifully). Chuffed with the signed print too.

Hope there’s plenty of stock for it to sell reasonably in the coming weeks.

Not sure of the original Disco vinyl total U.K. sales but it was on 21,500 for 2020. 13,500 opening week but the Glow in the Dark double came later in 2020…still impressive numbers.

I have to say that the songs I like from this album are the best she’s done in ages, it’s not a bad effort at all

I’ll likely grab the vinyl when it’s reduced

Safely top 10 this week at number 8.

5,516 copies sold - just short of going silver!

Phew, wasn't sure if it would make a second week top 10.

In hindsight, I really think BMG made a BIG mistake not releasing the album in the summer on the back of Padam. The 6 month wait for the album was ridiculous. I know BMG want the #1 and the headlines, but if they had released the album 2 or 3 weeks after Padam and then staggered the vinyl releases, I think we would've had better longevity. The album also feels like a summer album to me.

BMG shouldn't be so focussed on that week 1 debut and instead should be looking at how to keep the album charting in the current market. It's all well and good to say we got #1, but it's not as pretty when the album has left the chart after 5 weeks (which is pretty much what I think is ahead).

Not as "pretty" to whom? All a record company cares about are the profits (selling 10 albums priced 11.99 is way better than 20 at 5.00) and the label "#1 album". No one ever looks back or cares about how many weeks it spent at #1 or on the top 40/100. Same goes for sales, unless it's a really stellar performance.

It’s only a declining chart forum that cares about sales and weeks in charts - it’s splattered all over socials Kylie, Busted, Ed etc., reached #1, The GP are not looking up sales and chart weeks.

BMG sold 50k+ at full price just in the UK, even if it falls out the charts I’m sure they’ve made a considerable amount.

Oooh do Morrison’s stock chart CD still?

I agree Tension should have been released sooner off Padam…was thinking exactly the same earlier today…though Kylie has said they had to wait 6 months for the vinyl….I guess they thought it better to wait for them to be produced and build the pre orders rather than have a vinyl release separate. Around 20k vinyl sold at £22-35…that’s just in the U.K. Worldwide could be 40k sold so generated a million in sterling equivalent.

I think the album will hang around longer than 5 weeks in the charts but it will need promotion of some kind. There are a few points I want to make. Firstly, album sales are low in general so it won’t need to sell high amounts to stay in the charts anyway. Secondly, there is promo events coming up like the audience with Kylie which will help boost sales. However, I went into HMV Liverpool last weekend to buy the deluxe album and they had no copies on the shelves. I had to ask staff if they had a copy and they realised they hadn’t replaced the sold out stock with other copies. Also, I am surprised there was no label on the front of the album stating it includes the T10 hit Padam and T20 hit tension. I’m convinced now that tension won’t sell anywhere near the last two albums sadly.

Just hit me how f***ing AMAZING 'You Still Get Me High' is *.*

Gonna put it out there, this is her best album since Fever. It's still continually growing and I'm discovering new things about it all the time. 10/14 are great for me 👌♥️

It will sell fine.

Just needs a little price reductions, get into some of those hmv offers like 2 for £15 or whatever it is. She will have some black Friday deals no doubt. A few more variants, more promo when back from her first Vegas shows.

She mentioned in one of her interviews the long tun up time was to get the vinyls ready. She said herself it felt very long.

Surely she will be on Strictly etc. Probably grab more attention around Las Vegas, the grand prix, arias, MTV EMAs even if she won't attend the latter 2.

They probably have a lot more coming and they could even have another album almost ready to go in mid 2024....

Some of the meltdowns I am seeing from Kylie fans is hilarious

Tension will out perform both the prevoious studio albums long terms because its long term streaming will outperfom both albums.

We will have a re release soming soon and also we will have a somg with a feature or something special that Kylie was hinting at in the works. Plus the duluxe vinyl, all of which will bost sales. The album physical market has declined so much and looking at the sales from number 5 in the chart to number 26ish, all those album sales are very very close huns.

So it shows that just a little bit of promo could make the difference to the chart places.

Also, wasnt disco on a price cut?

Lets see what happens huns, we only have 2 singles released so far

Just Carol Honey ❤️

Obviously Taylor will no doubt grab the most vinyl sales of the year but hoping Kylie will stay top 5 for the year, to do that she is going to need some kind of deluxe vinyl i guess

this week it is keep Kylie/Tension top 20

Tbf the list is from set list.fm and included non-tour performances too, it’s literally every single time a song has been performed live. I don’t think it was on the On a Night Like This Tour or Fever Tour either.

Kids was definitely on the OANLT tour the 3 times I saw it.

A woman in the crowd in Manchester one night sat on someone’s shoulders took her top off showing her naked boobs breasts & titties & Kylie changed the words to “SHE’S got a reputation” & pointed at her hahaha

Tension has so much left in it yet so sales will be tipping away, plus kylie hasn't gone all out on promo so far. Disco despite a covid release feels like it had better promotion but I don't know if its just remembering it differently.

I think it’s a bit over the top to say people were having meltdowns. I guess some fans are starting to realise this era won’t be as big as we all hoped following the success of Padam. Tension is very unlikely to sell anywhere near the last two albums. It did well in the first week but that was due to big pre-orders and fans buying multiple copies. It’s dropped off massively this week (a much bigger drop in %) than compared to both disco & golden. It’s also quite a bit down compared to disco at the same stage. If you look at the trends of her last two albums, both albums sold the bulk of their total output in the first 6-8 weeks with trickle sales afterwards. Of course it will continue to sell but it’s unlikely to be in high amounts unless there is major promotion. The reality is the album market has shrank further since disco and most artists aren’t selling very well. Look at Ed Sheeran and Lewis Capaldi who are both more contemporary so why would Kylie suddenly buck this trend when she appeals to more of a niche market?

Edited by neill2407

I do agree, the recent performances of both Ed sheerans albums and Lewis capaldi show how hard the album market is. Taylor Swift probably bucks the trend as she does sell big numbers on opening weeks and her albums hold up well but still doesn't manage massive numbers in a calendar year.

I miss the days especially at Christmas when all the top 10 would sell over 100k and 30k might only be enough to get a top 30.
