Brighton and Leeds :o

Some good wins for both. I'm sure Brighton started off this way too and then revered to the means.

Problem with the early part of the season is the hyperbole and how quick the narrative shifts, last weelend City had won the title by 10 points. Now Arsenal are going to storm the Top 4 and Newcastle are best of the rest. Things can change very quickly in football.

One thing I have noticed though is a sheer lack of high pressing and intensity from lots of teams. I wonder if managers are trying this out as they know that a lot of their players won't be off to the World Cup, so will have time to recover mid-season? Maybe this is one for the sports scientists, Newcastle played well today but tired massively and Fulham have done the same in botgh their home games too.

It's too soon to say that Newcastle are the best of the rest but today's match was probably a glimpse into the future within the next 5 years when they should be more like how they were in the early 2000's when they were Champions League/Europa League staples. Jack Grealish is probably regretting his comment about Miguel Almirón now.

That Grealish/Almiron beef was completely bizarre and passed me by at the time. Very rich coming from Grealish who's been nothing but a bona fide expensive flop at City.
Crazy to think that as scores stand we're only going to be 1 point behind Manchester City after being bottom of the table 2 weeks ago. Liverpool will get their first win and be only 2 points behind. I should have guessed that Crystal Palace always do well at the Eithad.
So it's still not possible for a team to score 10 goals in a match...

Should have been, Salah missed two absolute sitters!

Brighton's 1-0 win over Leeds (putting them second behind Man C on goal difference for a few hours at least) sets a new club record of nine successive top flight matches without defeat.
Don't worry Bournemouth fans, we know how it feels

Bournemouth have conceded more goals in four games (16) than Chelsea did for the whole of the 2004/05 season.

Scott Parker: “I am not that surprised given the level here is far greater than we have.”

To be expected, apparently. What an inspiring bloke.

Great result for Man United

Average performance

Good, not great, in defence

Okay in midfield. Working hard but didn't win the battle and that includes the full backs

Okay in attack. Didn't keep the ball well at all and didn't offer enough in behind.

Southampton were very good
