she's always been 0% indie 0% alternative and 100% pop

That was one song, which we all like to pretend doesn't exist.

In a rare and shocking occurrence, I 100% agree with the above post. She's never even made anything remotely indie to my ears, early stuff was dance and she's slowly migrated towards the more pop end of the dance spectrum.

Honestly, I haven't really heard much/enough of her music to judge, but she does get posted on r/indieheads, played a lot by BBC 6Music etc so there must be something there - it is alternative as well as indie here! But yeah I ought to listen to some and come back...

Her music shows up in both /r/indieheads and /r/popheads (same as with other pop artists who get posted in this forum here like Lorde / Rina Sawayama etc.), she obvious does have appeal to the 'alternative' audience as well but I would definitely call her pop above anything else.

Critically acclaimed pop music is indie according to BuzzJack :kink:

I’d like it stay this way please, it’s low effort for me.

Pop music posted in here = often my favourite discoveries

Pop music posted in Pop = sporadic interest at best

"Free Yourself" is set to be released on July 19 at 6pm. BST (most likely as the Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1 that day). Co-written with Stuart Price and Clarence Coffee Jr.

Yep Hottest Record on Radio 1 now confirmed. Nice to see they haven't totally snubbed her.

Sounding pretty good on first listen, the chorus is incredibly strong and a perfect tonic to counter the current lazy hot summer evening vibe, and I agree with Kath that the chopped vocals going to the breakdown is great too. Solid.
omg she’s really found her groove, so pleased she’s decided to continue with developing the What’s Your Pleasure sound/style
Such a great song, she never disappoints :cheeseblock: I cannot wait for more music/her next album.

After more listens I don’t think this is anywhere as good as anything on What’s Your Pleasure
