Posted July 1, 20223 yr wf421JsG004 17 June 2002 saw the UK release of 'Love at First Sight', the third single to be lifted from 'Fever'. The song was written and produced by Biffco, with Kylie and Martin Harrington also sharing writing credits, and takes on nu-disco to unleash a euphoric anthem about instant love. It was hailed by critics as one of the best pop songs and became a Top 10 smash across the globe, including #1 in Greece, #2 in UK and #3 in Australia. In the US, where it was released as second single under the Ruff & Jam remix, 'Love at First Sight' became Kylie's third highest charting hit when it peaked at #23 and earned Kylie her first Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording. The music video was directed by Johan Renck and was a continuation of the futuristic aesthetic established at the start of the era and keeps things minimalist with its grey colour pallet and single-shot style take. 20 years on, what are your thoughts and memories of 'Love at First Sight'?
July 1, 20223 yr This was the song that turned me from a casual admirer into the hardcore fan I am today, 20 years ago. :o Before she came back with 'Spinning Around' I was kind of aware of who she was and the odd song, but from that point I was gradually loving her more and more until at this point it culminated in what is now my lifelong "love affair" (see what I did there?) Pop simply doesn't get better than this!
July 1, 20223 yr Have always loved, love at first sight and I was a bit disappointed it didn't get to number 1.
July 1, 20223 yr Have always loved, love at first sight and I was a bit disappointed it didn't get to number 1. I was more disappointed with the god-awful thing that kept it from being #1. It's a bit of a big ask for any single to get #1 after how much the album had sold in 2001 though.
July 2, 20223 yr Ya it was all just huge and everything just worked, back then though it would have been nice if kylie had got one or 2 more number 1 singles. Back then I had hopes of kylie having 10 number 1 singles in her career but it wasn't to be, now it's hoping for 10 number 1 albums. Love at first sight was one of those not a another number 2 moments.
July 5, 20223 yr Kylie is an artist who the public may possibly think has more Number 1 singles than she achieved. I believe many would assume The LocoMotion, I Believe In You, Better The Devil You Know and Love at First Sight were Number 1 singles.
July 6, 20223 yr Yeah, but also when you think about it the public would probably assume the likes of Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey have had a lot more than they do - she has more than those. I know she's had a few unfairly miss out, but she's not done bad to have 7.
July 7, 20223 yr  It's such a fantastic song. One of Kylie's very best! I played it so much when the Fever album was brand new, and I wasn't at all tired of it by the time it became a single. Sometimes I wonder how it would have done if it had been the second single instead of In Your Eyes. It sounded great over the summertime though, so I think it was well timed in that respect. I love the music video too. There's a simplicity to it but Kylie really sells it, she's so engaging to watch. At the time it certainly came across as being very modern. I'd never change the channel whenever it was played on a music channel. A classic! It does make me feel a little emotional to think that this release was 20 years ago! The early 2000s is one of my favourite eras of pop music, and Kylie was my main fave at that point. I wasn't having a great time at school in 2002. It can sound extreme to say that music can save your life, but it's true... Kylie's music/videos/performances really did bring some much needed joy into my life when I was at my lowest. She helped me persevere and remain positive, and 'Love at First Sight' was the main song of hers that helped me get through a tough year.
July 7, 20223 yr This would be in my top 3 Kylie songs if not my top favourite. So so fabulous a song and the video is just as fun too!
July 7, 20223 yr Love at First Sight is certainly among Kylie's best and the video is simple but effective and memorable.
July 7, 20223 yr Actually, when I think about it all 4 videos from this era was totally on point in every way. What a time to be alive.
July 7, 20223 yr Good point, all the fever videos were spot on, CGYOOMH is an iconic video and all the others were great.
July 8, 20223 yr I don’t like it as much as I used to. I find it a bit cheesy and think she has done better songs to be honest. It’s my least favourite single from the fever era.

I can definitely relate to this. I was a similar age when Fever came into my life. For me, she kept me strong while I was struggling to overcome being bullied at home and at school. Kylie's positivity is something I really appreciate in her work. She has an amazing ability to lift us all up.

Her music can always be relied on for a mood boost!
