Voting is now closed so let's talk a rundown of the honourable top 10 hits of this year.

#10 – 54 – Black Eyed Peas – Let's Get It Started

{11}-17-20-20-20-21-30-39-48-71->10

Taken as the 4th single from breakthrough album "Elephunk" it couldn't quite follow their first three that went to the top 10 but was a rather sizeable hit regardless. Originally titled with the r-slur (which has aged so badly that it's no longer on the official platforms) it thankfully got re-worked for the single release which remains one of the best of their early material.

#09 – 57 – Fountains Of Wayne – Stacy's Mom

{11}-12-17-24-30-43-60-73R(487)->8

A song that had been constantly memed about for its lyrics, the band had 2 minor top 40 hits in 1997 before this and they're generally considered as 1HWs now. It was written by the band's bassist who unfortunately died in 2020 of Covid.

#08 – 60 – Kasabian – Club Foot

2004: {19}-48-70->3

2005: {21}-42-48-59-64->5

The breakthrough single for Kasabian now who soon became one of the biggest British rock bands of the 00s and still popular now (being expected to soon have another #1 album) despite their former lead singer being removed. The song only managed 2 weeks in the top 40 but it appears to still be one of their most popular songs having got over 100m Spotistreams.

#07 – 61 – Armand Van Helden – My My My

2004: {15}-17-22-26-30-41-52-55-63-66-71-54R(8)-72-74-71R(22)->15

2006: 52-{12}-12-16-21-25-26-31-32-38-44-52-57-61-64-73->16

A reasonably sized hit already in 2004 before narrowly outpeaking itself in 2006, house veteran AvH got himself his biggest hit since the #1 'You Don't Know Me' from 1999 - it remains one of the most popular house tracks of the era.

#06 – 64 – Hoobastank – The Reason

{12}-17-20-35-42-53-66->7

Another American 1HW band and this time they didn't even have another minor top 40 hit. The song seems to be hugely remembered to this day though with ridiculously large streaming figures for such an average MOR song - it was even bigger in US where it hit #2 but couldn't quite crack the top 10 here.

Love all of those. So far in these I've not known or liked many of the qualifiers and to say I like all of these and this is coming from one of the weaker years in the 2000's for me as well!!

#05 – 67 – Nelly Furtado – Try

{15}-23-28-33-42-61-68->7

For a second year Nelly Furtado places in the top five with a song I am not familiar with. It has held up better in public memory than 'Powerless' to be her most streamed track from 'Folklore' although still outdone a lot by her 'Loose' hits.

#04 – 70 – Killers – All These Things That I've Done

{18}-32-55-72->4

Taken as their third single release following up from the ever-present 'Mr Brightside' was no easy task but this put them in the top 20 for a second time and remains one of their most remembered songs. Rightly so for being a great indie rock anthem. The band remain hugely popular with all 7 of their albums so far having reached UK #1.
