Im shocked you guys even think about what others would vote or about winning, winning what?

No one should care about what other people like

I doubt anyone really thinks about what others are doing do they? I just cut the list down to everything I want to vote for and then rank them (poor Gezza usually gets a list of about 100 extra tracks that I wanted to vote for  )

I'm guessing it's something you said in other thread you like it. If it is the song I'm thinking, I gave it 2 points. That's somehting I'm shocked it's still to come but I think it's something gooddelta or Roba could love it as well. #jasonpsychic

Curious as to what you might both be talking about, maybe a Radio 2 favourite that was one of the biggest selling songs ever in Germany?

I can assure you all that my 30 points always goes to my favourite, as tasteful or tasteless as that may be! In this case...I think it's a pretty highly regarded track so I hope it's not out any time soon.

I think people have learned from bitter experience to give their 30 points to something that’s a bit of a contender even if it isn’t strictly their favourite, as it’s no fun seeing it exit early (justice for Price Tag  ).

That's actually insane. :o

I mean if there are two songs I love almost equally, one that I know is widely loved and likely to win and one that I love that is barely talked about on the forum and seems to be underrated, I will probably elect to put the latter a bit higher. I feel that's natural in a poll like this, you want to support those forgotten gems that feel less rated in other public polls of this nature so it can throw up some surprises. Obviously, within reason, I'd never give a 30 to something purely because I want it to finish highly rather than my favourite.

Saying that, the fact I'm as high as 2nd on the voters list perhaps shows I'm a bit of a bellwether/mainstreamer after all x :kink:

Insane that I love Price Tag? Come on, it’s a pop classic! :P

I may not have been entirely serious with that throwaway comment. In fact my 30 is my favourite by miles. :D

Oh I didn't rank my 30 pointer with the thought that it would have a better chance at winning, I genuinely though it was the best of the list, I just think it's something that won't be a particularly niche choice.

I won't say anymore for fear of giving the game away.

Hah, I don't even think about "winning" these I literally just list the ones I like in the correct order that everyone should be listing them and cross my fingers  :teresa: So I'm 11th with dandy on top, why am I experiencing deja vu?!

I guarantee my 30-pointer will go early, in fact I'm shocked it's this high and I'm impressed somebody else loves it too, dying to find out who :yahoo:

I’m the same I just vote for the ones I love best lol

There’s the flipside as well, where topping these sorts of lists makes you a ‘basic bitch’. I say that when i think some of my top picks will finish very highly.

Eminem hasn't half released some garbage in the last few years but his classic hits are classics for a reason. Not a bad result for 'My Name Is' there. Just a shame it wasn't a #1 so he missed out on having #1s in 4 consecutive decades - I'm not sure he'll still be able to pull off a #1 come 2030!

'More Than Words' is a bit of a slog iirc, wouldn't have expected so many to vote for that.

Well how very rude!!!

I do find it odd how often I seem to top these lists for a while, although in this particular round I did think that most of my favourites were also generally well regarded by music fans. I think that a lot of people in this particular part of the forum often have a similar taste (of which I am definitely one) which does mean that things are skewed.

 Just playing devil’s advocate against wanting to top the list :teresa: ,and honestly I feel like most of my top picks are probably pretty popular and will do well on here. Although that’s not why i picked them (obvs) I’m being lead by a big dose of nostalgia for this list.

Ooh yes I think you could be right there, in which case a big thumbs up for everyone :cheer: :)

"Big in Germany" sounds about right :D Goose bumps for me every time, guaranteed.

I just assume when my music tastes are out of step with popular opinion that everyone will come round in the end  Queen and Abba were once mightily slagged off by "music critics" after all and who's had the last laugh there :teresa: Now, just waiting for Deuce's On The Bible to get justice too

Oh that's me, basic bitch (until streaming era at least) I have always had commercial tastes in music, but I like to think it's because I can spot quality and so can the public. Mostly...... :teresa:

If it’s the song I think it is, I also like it but didn’t point it. It’s heavily featured in my favourite episode of Inside no 9 though
