September 17, 20222 yr amazed songs like The Rose or Queen of my Heart get an average >5 :o The Rose should be last, is even worst than the swing ones guess the swing album was Louis Walsh's idea to replicate the success of Robbie's Swing when you're winning but alas...
September 17, 20222 yr The Rose should be last, is even worst than the swing ones Never forget or forgive how that abomination was #1 the week All Saints should've been.
September 17, 20222 yr Never forget or forgive how that abomination was #1 the week All Saints should've been. U2 & Green Day ended up above them anyway!

Unbreakable [unbreakable: The Greatest Hits Volume 1] (5.60) Highest Score: Sean. (10) Lowest Score: Viper* (-01); Dobbo (00) azdesKO7r4Q We kick start this section off with their most recent single, 'Alone Together'. To the surprise of nobody, it didn't impact anywhere. I find it a bit boring/bland. I'm surprised it managed to get as high as 16 though! At #17 is 2nd single from their 'Spectrum' album. 'Better Man' is one of theirs I probably like more than I care to admit. It's sweet and sent them into the ballad territory again. #18 we see a song that feels like it's been covered by any and every one of the "mum favourites". I find it very boring tbh. At #19 we have another one of their covers, this time it's a cover of ABBA's song, 'I Have A Dream', which was another UK #1 for them. They released it alongside 'Seasons Of The Sun' and I think this was the "main" A-Side. It's a nice enough cover, I guess. But I'm not really a huge fan of the ABBA original either... Finally in this section is the lead single & title song from their first greatest hits collection, 'Unbreakable'. This song gives me a big, romance movie moment. I quite like this one as it feels like something Backstreet Boys could've recorded and smashed with or something.

Amazing [Face To Face] (6.12) Highest Score: Dobbo (11); LMFan (10) Lowest Score: Jessie Where (01) Dc3YAINjlyE Starting this section off is the final single from their self-titled debut album, it's the boring 'Fool Again'. Just the typical Westlife ballad. At #12 is their cover of Daughtry's song, 'What About Now'. I actually really, really like this. I wish they dabbled more into the pop-MOR-rock element as I feel that is where they excel the best. 'Us Against The World' falls at #13. A safe and uninspired song but it's ok. Their duet with legendary vocalist Mariah Carey ends up at #14. That's about where I expected for it tbh. I think it does deserve a bit more though tbh, Westlife work surprisingly well with her! Finally at #15 we have the final single from 'Face to Face' and honestly, I think it should've been the 2nd single over 'When You Tell Me That You Love Me' *eyes* It's a bit of a bop. Panders to MOR radio, but it bops!
September 18, 20222 yr Author Buzzjack's top 10 Westlife singles in alphabetical order are: - Flying Without Wings - Hello My Love - If I Let You Go - My Love - Starlight - Swear It Again - Uptown Girl - When You're Looking Like That - World Of Our Own - You Raise Me Up Any surprises? What would you switch out and put in place? Top 10 predictionsssss
September 18, 20222 yr I really like 'Us Against The World' personally. One of their best especially following the bore that was 'The Rose' lol. 'Amazing' is alright but nothing amazing too. From the top 10 I'd say that's an decent group from what's left aside from YRMU and SIAOA which are both bland. Edited September 18, 20222 yr by Roba!
September 18, 20222 yr Not a fan but their 4 best are all still there for me: When You’re Looking Like That Starlight World Of Our Own Flying Without Wings
September 19, 20222 yr Hello My Love and World of Our Own are the only ones I’d ever bear to listen to - World of Our Own is their best
September 19, 20222 yr 'Flying Without Wings' and 'World Of Our Own' to be the top 2 please. 'Uptown Girl' and 'You Raise Me Up' are decent too. After relistening to all of their #1s in the recent #1 listenthroughs I came to the conclusion that 'Fool Again' is probably my least favourite but tbf a lot of them are fairly interchangeable.
September 19, 20222 yr I guess Im in the minority that like Unbreakable, would have made that one top 10
September 19, 20222 yr Their 4 good songs and 1 OK-ish song, I'm fairly pleased they're all in the top 10. 'World Of Our Own' to walk it!
September 19, 20222 yr Author ulOb9gIGGd0 10. My Love [Coast to Coast] (7.14) Highest Score: vibe + Sean. (11); Alex! (10) Lowest Score: Viper* (02) Kick starting the top 10 is the lead single from their 2nd album 'Coast to Coast' and it's pretty much "more of the same" with 'My Love'. It's "nice" but just your typical Westlife ballad. But at that stage it was very "if it ain't broke..." as it scored them another #1 single. Their 6th UK #1 in a row! It's quite apt that this and 'Fool Again' are next to each other as I find them very, very similar. It's good, not great. Would never really listen to it out of choice.
September 19, 20222 yr Author 0fT2amS9KZ4 09. Starlight [Wild Dreams] (7.21) Highest Score: gog_lad84 + Herbs + NarCow + Feel_The_Fever + JulianT (10) Lowest Score: Dobbo (02) Up next is the lead single from their 'Wild Dreams' album, 'Starlight'. It's one of those, generic, arena-ready, "anthems". It went to #66 here in the UK, but that was harsh. It deserved to go top 40 (although, I guess it doesn't really matter at this point in their illustrious career!). Re-listening to it now and I think I should've given it a slightly higher score than a 6.5 tbh. It's good (but I *think* listening to the playlist for this was the first time I heard it properly). A bop and it deserves it's top 10 placing here tbh.
September 19, 20222 yr Author 753Gl2VlPF8 08. Hello My Love [spectrum] (7.39) Highest Score: gooddelta (11); Tafty³³³ + Nina West + LMFan + zeze88 (10) Lowest Score: Bjork (00) Before Lee's rate, this was 6th... #DownWithLee!!!!! 'Hello My Love' was their first single in 8 years and went on to be somewhat of a success for them. Music listening habits had changed a LOT over the course of those 8 years, so to see a "legacy" group like Westlife getting such a big and stable hit in the streaming era is very rare. The verses are so soft and tender (lolololol) but the chorus does exactly what it needs to do, when it needs to. The chorus just explodes into pure pop perfection. It's written by Ed Sheeran & Steve Mac and it gives me 'Castle On The Hill' vibes (one of Ed's very best singles). I love this song so much and still play it quite frequently!
September 19, 20222 yr 'Hello My Love' and 'Starlight' should've finished higher! The former I'm pretty shocked to see as low as it is
September 19, 20222 yr Hello My Love deserves better! Actually surprised it's not top five, this is pretty much the best song they could have come back with, and deserved its decent chart run. You can tell Ed wrote it but it does still sound like Westlife at the same time, I guess a lot of both acts singles are cut from the same cloth, partly thanks to Steve Mac no doubt. Starlight is decent too, but not as good for me, while My Love felt a little bit more Irish influenced than the singles from the first album to me, I mean it wouldn't have surprised me if it had been a Daniel O'Donnell single. It's decent enough, and seems like one of their most popular songs these days, the other week I saw a busker (teenage boy) singing it in Oxford! Edited September 19, 20222 yr by gooddelta
September 19, 20222 yr Author I was gutted when I calculated the results and saw HML wasn't gonna be top 3 lmao. DOWN WITH BUZZJACK!!! EDIT: Literally in a loop of it rn thanks to presenting the result lmao.
