surprised there are so many non-UK European songs!!!

Voted, these were mostly discoveries for me, even the well known acts, for the most part I wasn't too familiar with the songs, apart from Blade Runner, Forever Young and I Ran, which are very recognisable, and Paninaro which as a big PSB fan I know well.

 

Love the foreign language songs, I think it's interesting to see a snapshot of the sort of thing other countries were listening to in the 80s - still very much the same musical influences, trends and love for a good melody as we had here and in the US - the main sources of the big 80s synth hits - but it's good to hear different languages over familiar production techniques.

I listened to all the songs I did not already know yesterday, and my, what a great round! Though not everything is 'for me', it's ALL so 80's! Can we do this song contest every month please!??

Thoroughly enjoyed this as well, there were 16 songs that I would have been happy to vote for. I am interested to see if the more well known artists end up filling up the top end of the results - not to say that they wouldn't necessarily deserve to do so on merit (the a-ha song in particular is fantastic and quite an unexpected sound from them!) but I hope there are some more obscure picks that get a look in as well.

Honestly sometimes we can’t win in this forum. This contest not long enough yet when I listened to this feedback and gave you all a year to listen to songs in round 5 of the 1992 survivor that was also somehow not right :(

2 weeks is absolutely plenty for 25 songs.

Voted! There were songs by artists I hadn't previously heard of which finished high in my votes, while at least one, which I thought would be a cert before I listened to all the songs, missed out.

Thanks for the listenthrough earlier this week Bré, I will endeavour to listen to all the songs again before voting. I’ve found some highlights, I think I will vote based on what I think fits the theme of the contest best. Synths was what was asked for, so I shall be voting for this. Thanks for all the entries and discoveries, I’m already looking forward to the next one of these contests. ^_^

I quite like the fact that it isn’t just 25 synth heavy tracks though and there are some other styles in there. I’m glad some have explored the theme in slightly different directions within reason. Anyway I think I’m just going to vote for my 10 favourites. :)

I like that there's both an artist and a song title starting with three c's.

Voted. Half my top 10 were new to me!! and some tracks I have in my vinyl and CD collection failed to get points :o
