Seconding:

Duran Duran - Rio

Echo And The Bunnymen - The Cutter

Yazoo - Don't Go

(a lack of Prince Charming may seem surprising but Kings of the Wild Frontier is my preferred album from the big two and we're already getting that today, I think the top highlights of PC are the #1s)

I was also going to suggest The River so I approve of your choice. I'll cast another vote for The Cutter and something from Yazoo as well.

This week was even more of a mess than I already knew it would be thanks to a couple of ~technical difficulties~ (anyone who thinks they heard a bit of 'Give Peace A Chance', you imagined it, shhh) but hopefully that's just my perfectionism and the rest of you thought it still went smoothly :kink: oops at the Royal Wedding and Barry Manilow albums not properly having any tracks available on YouTube! Super gutted to have not got to hear 80s Manilow  2016 Manilow just doesn't hit the same xx

Bowie, Adam And The Ants and Genesis providing my best discoveries of the week this time! And good to be able to put a name to 'Instant Karma!' which I hadn't realised was a Lennon song ~

missed it yesterday but will try to listen on my own today!
I'm putting in a bid for the RIP slot following the death of Garry Roberts of the Boomtown Rats. How about one of their early singles such as Mary Of The Fourth Form or Looking After Number One?

Not sure how much of today's session I'll be able to catch, hopefully I can listen in the car from about 5.30pm at least. These would be my choices from the #2s up until mid-1986:

The Jam - That's Entertainment [from Snap!]

Tears For Fears - Head Over Heels or Shout [from Songs From The Big Chair]

The Smiths - There Is A Light That Never Goes Out [from The Queen Is Dead] if we get that far, otherwise something from Ultravox - The Collection

The Smiths - This Charming Man [from The Smiths] is a classic but I assume will be the most streamed from their 1992 'Best I' #1 album.

Am putting the playlist for today together now (being even more last minute than usual  I just didn't have the attention span for it yesterday whoops, feeling a little more with it now thankfully). So I'm not sure exactly which album we'll get up to but assuming it'll be ~45 albums as usual the list of eligible #2 albums will be roughly this (pretty sure we won't get as far as 'The Queen Is Dead'):

edit: only 43 albums this week so the last 2 will be going to next week instead

1983

Snap! - The Jam

Stages - Elaine Paige

Under a Blood Red Sky - U2

1984-1988

1984

An Innocent Man - Billy Joel

The Smiths - The Smiths

The Works - Queen

Cafe Bleu - The Style Council

Breaking Hearts - Elton John

Parade - Spandau Ballet

Private Dancer - Tina Turner

Diamond Life - Sade

Powerslave - Iron Maiden

The Woman in Red - Stevie Wonder / Dionne Warwick

Waking Up with the House on Fire - Culture Club

The Collection - Ultravox

Now! That’s What I Call Music 4 - Various Artists

1985

Hits Out of Hell - Meat Loaf

Songs from the Big Chair - Tears for Fears

Dream into Action - Howard Jones

Out Now - Various Artists

All Through the Night - Aled Jones / BBC Welsh Symphony Orchestra and Chorus

The Gift - Midge Ure

Live After Death - Iron Maiden

Afterburner - ZZ Top

My requests:

Billy Joel - An Innocent Man (An Innocent Man)

Queen - Machines (The Works)

Ultravox - All Stood Still (The Collection)

Tears For Fears - Shout (Songs From The Big Chair)

Howard Jones - Hunger For The Flesh (Dream Into Action)

Midge Ure - Wastlelands (The Gift)

I nominate

The Jam - That’s Entertainment

Queen - I Want To Break Free

Tina Turner - Private Dancer

Meat Loaf - Bat Out of Hell

Tears for Fears - Shout

Backing up Bat Out of Hell and Shout (There is a Light... for next week as well x)

I guess something by The Clash or Public Image Ltd. in honour of Keith Levene as well? (</3)

Tears For Fears, Billy Joel and The Jam for me. I'd have gone for The Longest Time as the Billy Joel track but happy to hear An Innocent Man instead. I also refer you back to the Boomtown Rats request above.
Oh sorry I completely missed that The Smiths will likely be an option next week instead. In that case I'd swap my 3rd choice to 'The Longest Time' by Billy Joel
