Tbh I never expected Padam to be number one on pure sales on the 8th (!) week of release! The sales are generally much more frontloaded than streaming is (which is why precisely ACR concept was invented).

Love that a 2024 Kylie release has achieved that - in the streaming era I never thought we’d see that in the UK or US.

It was definitely something I'll never forget/never quite believe was actually real!

Every sale counts!

Kylie led by 1 sale on the download chart! OMG

Edit: oops. Just caught up and realised that somebody else as already mentioned this

Day 58 and up to 17 on Itunes Worldwide

Yep every download counts

Beatport

Amazon etc

Brilliant that we managed another week in the official top 10!

I do think that we are looking at the end of its chart run with a drop to 14-16 next week, and then on ACR the week after which could realistically mean out of the top 40?

Would be lovely to see it miss ACR but unless there is some surprise I just can’t see it. Either way Padam doesn’t need to achieve more at this stage. We did it!

^ PP is on DCL-1, so we’ll have two more weeks top-20 at very least with a chance of evading ACR the week after next with the new remix released!

Oh great to know, I thought it was one more week! Obviously don’t follow the chart rules as closely anymore.

I understand they may have a big Tension UK Promo planned and want to avoid overexposure....but the lack of promo or UK interview spots is a bit surprising considering this is a once in a blue moon opp for her.

There really isnt much UK stuff to do at moment? She had all the radio slots covered, BMG probably surprised she had those to be honest as Extra. Done Capital Summertime Ball and has had new slots on Lorraine, Sky News etc.

In September she will have BBC Radio 2 Piano Room, Concert in the Park on 17th/18th, will be all over Radio 2 for this, Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, Strictly Come Dancing, G Norton Show, BBC Breakfast, This Morning etc. Probably film some stuff for Xmas Shows Too. I am guessing she could even appear on the TOTP Xmas show.....

Its all autumn stuff in UK. She may do something like a GAY performance etc, Special Album ITV launch?

At the moment i guess its USA Residency news soon, filming more videos, features as she will be very busy soon. I think she also has Ru-Paul Drag Race stuff to do, the Netflix Drama, photo shoots etc etc

I am sure she is very busy behind the scenes and they will know how many pre-orders they have etc and the UK not her priority right now.......

Ps. Who was it who said after the Absolute remix that we were getting nothing else and people said that was from a BMG insider.... obviously total nonsense

What was previously shared was believed to be true at the time it was posted. It was intended to be informative!

The "Absolute remix is the last push" thing 100% came from somebody who works at BMG. So either that BMG person got their wires crossed, or plans changed after they said what they said.

I'd rather stuff was shared, whether it ends up happening or not, it keeps things interesting. I think we're all happy there is a new remix coming out, so let's focus on that.

Oh come on, drip feeding another remix to the line isn’t anything super big, no need to be patronising :P

I’ll be happy to receive more info of the future strategy if it comes, even if it doesn’t turn out to be 💯 true, things often change!

Exactly this!

Also Jay bought some digitals this week so Jay, thank you for keeping her that 1 sale a head on downloads hun

Just Carol Honey ❤️

 I'm really happy I bought them now! That was 2 sales from me on Thursday. :o Imagine if I hadn't done it, and it had ended up being 1 download behind and been #2. I would've had to have handed my stan card back in x

Not sure if this has already been mentioned:

Padam Padam remains on the Radio 2 playlist, for an 8th week :o It's been moved down to B List after 7 weeks on the A List. As far as I can tell it's the longest running song on Radio 2's playlist in 2023. Also according to their Last.fm it is now the song they've played the most this year, with 136 plays, moving ahead of Miley Cyrus - Flowers that has been played 135 times!

Incredible support from them :cheer:

Meanwhile it spends a 4th week on the C List on Radio 1. Honestly I thought they might have dumped it earlier than that, so I'll take that.

Most weeks Top 10:

1988 I Should Be So Lucky 9w

1988 Especially for You 9w

2001 Can't Get You Out of My Head 7w

1988 The Loco-motion 6w

1988 Got to Be Certain 5w

1988 Je ne sais pas pourquoi 5w

1989 Hand On Your Heart 5w

1989 Wouldn't Change a Thing 5w

1990 Tears On My Pillow 5w

1990 Better the Devil You Know 5w

1992 Give Me Just a Little More Time 4w

2004 I Believe in You 4w

2010 All the Lovers 4w

2023 Padam Padam 4w

Interesting how the majority of those songs - 10 out of 14 - are from the PWL albums eras (I've added the years of release to draw attention to it more!). It's certainly an indication of how the charts became a lot more fast moving in the 2000s. I didn't realise that I Believe in You was her only single (bar CGYOOMH) to spend at least 4 weeks in the Top 10 in the 00s decade!

Kylie weeks in the Top 10 singles chart in the 2000s:

2001 Can't Get You Out of My Head 7w

2004 I Believe in You 4w

2000 Kids 3w

2007 2 Hearts 3w

2000 Spinning Around 2w

2002 In Your Eyes 2w

2002 Love at First Sight 2w

2003 Slow 2w

2004 Red Blooded Woman 2w

2008 Wow 2w

2000 On a Night Like This 1w

2000 Please Stay 1w

2000 Come Into My World 1w

2004 Chocolate 1w

2005 Giving You Up 1w

2008 In My Arms 1w

It's criminal that On a Night Like This only spent 1 week in the Top 10! :drama: Its Top 40 run of 2-11-18-25-40 leaves a lot to be desired. Whenever I listen to it or whenever she performs it, it feels like it was a much bigger hit than that chart run suggests.

2 Hearts being towards the top of that list :drama:

Surprise SA only had two weeks in the top 10!

Yes, I think that was probably the time that the charts were at their fastest. Typically half the top 10 each week would have been new entries, and most songs plummeted the week after they were released.

Yes and also she really missed out on the 1996-1999 much higher CD sale era. Sales really started dropping from 2000, due to illegal downloading. The hardcore fan base who stayed with her through the decon years, plus the older PWL fans and new fans, together gave enough of a frontloaded week one to trouble the top places.

Early 00s there was always an oversupply too so after a couple of months there were loads of CD bargain bin sales to be had, hence the lengthy top 200 runs of many pop acts.

If I recall correctly, IBIY was released after Ultimate Kyle (making it a bit less frontloaded) so the promo for it could be during December and help the album sell. It also crossed over the weird Christmas period when nothing was released so it stayed top 5 as there were no new frontloaded singles to push it out. It was close to being number one really, there was a Band Aid reissue that stopped it.

Honestly this - downloads are typically now a chart tool for stans to help their faves out so the fact that 2 months in it’s still shifting volume shows it’s appealed to the GP.

The decent downloads, if they hold up even half of what they are doing for a month or so, will also help soften the blow of ACR when it happens.

Down to B list on BBC radio 2.

Still being playlisted though is great lol. I guess they would have been compaints if it had stayed A list lol. Still C listed on Radio 1

Nice longevity

Had a vision this morning that Padam Padam has not peaked yet in UK etc and still many of general public are unaware of it yet.....

From what I think, if the US residency is going to happen later this year, then work on it must have already begun. Kylie might even be starting rehearsals for that soon, since she won't get time to do that when Tension comes out in September.
