I haven't tracked it as closely in recent weeks, but that's my instinct :lol:

In my mother's gossip magazine, the German-speaking Gala, there was a big report about Kylie. Padam Padam has been themed with amazing facts. The magazine says:

 

"Kylie released the single in May and it has now become a major chart hit and summer hit of the year." PP didn't even come close to the top 100 in Germany and only reached the lower places of the airplay top 100, so it can be assumed that few Germans know and like PP.

 

"More than 20 years after her last super hit CGYOOMH, Kylie has made a brilliant comeback." Since CGYOOMH 17 more singles entered the German top 100, 8 of them reached the top 20. As a reminder, PP wasn't even in the German trending charts.

 

"Minogue is still missing one market, namely the USA. The singer has been trying to gain a foothold there for years. With PP she could now succeed: The song has been in the top 10 of the charts there for several weeks, it's the first time that Kylie made it into this ranking." US Dance/Electronic Songs Top 10 was indeed reached with PP, but the important Hot 100, in which Kylie has already been in the top 10 twice, was missed.

 

It is also written about Kylie and Dannii: "The two women have an intimate relationship. Recently they were even placed in the charts at the same time. Kylie's comment: It's crazy, great and wonderful." The magazine is probably referring to the single chart week in which PP and WCBTO were both in the top 10 of the UK downloads charts.

 

The article is a great promo for Kylie, but the truth about Padam Padam's success, be it in Germany or in the USA, is different.

Germany remains the one country I'm a surprised its not done more there and during the weeks it was flying it in other countries I was sure Germany would come through.

^^ Would have loved PP to breakthrough in Germany but in reality despite both France and Germany once being big markets for her she kind of dumped them.

 

I went to the KMO show in Paris and she definitely still has a fanbase there but she just hasn’t hardly engaged with them in years.

That's understandable in a way and despite the success kylie continues to have here in Ireland it's disappointing she never promotes here. I'm thankful she tours here but a bit of promotion goes a long way.

Surely it's more important that her tours visit Ireland than her doing random promo?

On the flip side I travel all the time to see my faves - I live in London and yes all the big stars do promo and shows here, but with that you get bigger venues and lots of fans traveling over, in the past year I’ve been to The Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Italy, France and Switzerland to see a fave at smaller venues and without all the chaos.

I am grateful she tours here as most of her tours have come to Ireland, but I think if she appeared on a chat show here it might help regain some lost fans.

The easiest way to check if PP might be close to the Hot 100 is to look at where PP ranks on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and which songs of that chart are also in the Hot 100. In recent weeks only top 2 are part of the Hot 100, Hot Dance/Electronic Songs current no 3 is Hot 100 Bubbling Under's no 21. PP is Hot Dance/Electronic Songs' no 9 this week, so it's far away from entering Hot 100 or Hot 100 Bubbling Under. PP's peak position on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs was no 7, so Hot 100 were never close.

Its Spotify streams have also collapsed, probably because of changes in playlisting. The second single cannot come too soon.
