BLA BLA BLA is horrible.

Gasoline however is a moment.

'IF NOT FOR YOU', 'MARK CHAPMAN' and 'IL DONO DELLA VITA' are my favourite album tracks on first listen

across the board they're capable of much better lyricism which is preventing me from getting into some of it at the moment - 'BLA BLA BLA' was quite a WTF moment

Some of them are a little generic but the ones that stand out to me are:

2. Gossip (feat.) Tom Morello

3. Timezone

4. Bla Bla Bla

13. La Fine

17. The Loneliest

Huge Maneskin fan but I turned the album off halfway through… I’ll go back and give it another listen but first impressions are :nocheer:

All three of my biggest highlights were in the second half

('BABY SAID' being the NMF pick :nocheer: probably because of Max Martin involvement)

I found this a bit underwhelming beyond the singles :( TIMEZONE is stunning though!

Just getting around to the lyric videos posted to their YouTube channel and I'm appreciating the effort that has gone into them. 'READ YOUR DIARY' is probably my biggest grower atm, what an earworm

They were sitting at #3 in the U.K. mids yesterday. I was hoping for #1 on what seemed like a fairly dead week but that looks out of reach. Still, a huge improvement on their previous (and best!!) album Teatro D'ira Vol. I which didn't quite make the top 40.

Glad that they held on to top 5 after slipping out during the mids at one point. It's satisfying that their highest peaking album and single ('I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE') both made #5 in the U.K.

I had slightly given up hope on this making the top 5 and was just keeping fingers crossed for it to hold #6 so that was a pleasant surprise that they did make it in after all! May well be the last time they get a mention on the chart show so savouring it :kink:

Just listened to the album today and while it is a bit of a mixed bag and could have done with some fat trimmed (particularly 'BLA BLA BLA' which is really quite obnoxious oops) I did enjoy it more overall than I expected to judging by the reactions/reviews I had read! Still 12/17 songs that I've saved to my shuffle playlist which is not bad going.

I was a fan of all of the singles ('MAMMAMIA' has already not aged super gracefully ngl but it's still fun although comfortably my least favourite of the 5 now), 'GOSSIP' in particular is great imo and became instantly my favourite English language song from them to date although I think it now has competition from 'GASOLINE' which is also an instant banger *.* That and 'MARK CHAPMAN' were easily the two best album tracks for me on first listen (not sure if I like either of them more than 'GOSSIP' yet, need to relisten x), also thought 'OWN MY MIND' was a strong opening track and 'IF NOT FOR YOU' and 'IL DONO DELLA VITA' were lovely too. The other two I've saved are 'FEEL' and 'KOOL KIDS' - the latter I've seen being mostly lumped in with 'BLA BLA BLA' as one of the worst on the album and I can definitely see why but I enjoyed the sound of the song enough to look past the admittedly very subpar lyrics, sounded quite inspired by IDLES!

'BABY SAID' was probably my 2nd least favourite song on the album (not bad but didn't really leave much of an impression on me at all) so also not really approving of that getting the NMF slot whoops

Btw I was a bit late to seeing this video (popped up on my YouTube recommendations the other day but was uploaded a bit over a month ago) but Vanity Fair posted a 'same interview one year later' video with Måneskin, branching out with the format they've been doing with Billie Eilish for the past few years. The change over that year is not quite as dramatic as it has been in the Billie videos it's fair to say but still quite an interesting watch ~

Aww I love Bla Bla Bla!

After a week, my opinions have changed! I much prefer Bla Bla Bla to Gasoline at this point.

Glad they made the top 5 at least!

Its a good album, singles are all bops, though MAMMAMIA aged like milk :kink: SUPERMODEL & THE LONELIEST are still incred tho and wish they were bigger hits. GOSSIP is my fave song from the album so glad its a single but it deseeves to be a hit! Its actually now my fave Maneskin song! OTher highlights bar the singles are OWN MY MIND, TIMEZONE, IF NOT FOR YOU and READ YOUR DIARY

  • 2 weeks later...

wow I haven't seen such a bad and negative review in Pitchfork in a long long time, even when they hate something and call it shit they give it a 5.2

funnily if Måneskin were American sure they would give them a pass

wonder why even bother with a review, just better off ignoring it and not reviewing it like with Ava Max

Longevity icons

(seriously though I was definitely expecting it to drop out this week so a third week top 100 was a pleasant surprise for what it's worth)
