Anyone going to a tour/gig for a retro old skool band or singer soon?

I am thrilled I got myself a standing ticket to Pulp in Cardiff next July - I have wanted to see them live since 1995 and assumed it would never happen!

Ooh id love to see Pulp, still on my list to do.

Yes i see golden oldies all the time, always have done. I almost went to see Sugababes last week but i ran out of time. Doh! I sometimes look and see if tickets are available and just turn up on the day.

90s acts ive seen? M people, snap!, corrs, texas, robbie, stereophonics, but prob some others too ive forgotten at the mo. Not Blur, oasis, pulp sadly, they used to sell out too quick...

Hope you have a great time seeing Pulp!

I don't have any impending but I've seen Take That, Pet Shop Boys, Spice Girls, Chemical Brothers, Soulwax/2ManyDJs and I guess Damon Albarn as part of Gorillaz, plus I've been to a couple of Bootleg Beatles gigs so a retro experience even if not the real thing :kink: obviously I was born in the late 90s, so impossible to witness anyone in their heyday, but I definitely need to see more at some point!

I also went to a 'We Love The 90s' gig with the following line-up: 2 Unlimited, Ace of Base, Alice Deejay, C+C Music Factory, Cappella, Culture Beat, Dr Alban, Haddaway, La Bouche, Rednex, Robin S, Sash!, Snap!, Vengaboys and Whigfield - it was good fun :D

That's great news Jester, hope you enjoy it! ^_^

It's not quite retro enough for this forum but we're off to see Will Young on Monday. I decided that I liked more than enough of his singles to warrant seeing him on a hits tour. Am hoping he'll do Come On, Jealousy, Who Am I? and Switch It On

I wouldn't have matched you with liking the Sugababes John!

That 90s did sounds like great fun Jade.

And dandy* - I have seen Will live 5 times and he is a great performer!

Omg I didn’t know Pulp were touring!! Might have to look for tickets!

I’ve just seen Sugababes and am seeing Blue in December 2000’s retro pop!

If they count as retro then I'll more than likely be seeing Suede and Killing Joke next year.

Do Clutch count too? Going on the 16th

I'd also quite like to see Pulp again but probably won't bother to travel. Last saw them at Glastonbury '94

Pulp are fantastic live. Jarvis Cocker is a truly brilliant front-man. I first saw them before they enjoyed chart success. Even then, Jarvis showed himself to be a brilliant performer. That first gig was at the Garage in Highbury (capacity 650). I later saw them at the Reading Festival when their set included a brand new song called Common People.

No surprise that I will be seeing Suede in Brighton next year and then at Brixton Academy a few days later.

didn't Pulp reform few years back? I think I saw them at Primavera Festival in Barcelona like 10 years ago or something
They had a single ‘After You’ at some point so assume it must have been around about then?
I tend to find that most retro acts charge way more than I'd typically want to pay to see them, so I only ever see acts from 'before my time' at festivals really. The one exception is that I am going to see Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott next month, they committed to capping tickets at £30 for their whole tour which is excellent for arena venues.

I think it's different when a band like Suede or Paul/Jacqui that are still very active and releasing music every couple years

vs old acts that split up ages ago and return for a tour/no new music just for the $$$$

like I saw TLC this summer but cos it was a festival, wouldn't have paid to just go see them

I saw Backstreet Boys at the O2 this evening. And kudos and big respect to Nick Carter for getting up and doing that. He was understandably tearful and got rapturous standing ovations. There was a lovely tribute to Aaron Carter too. And they have so many good pop songs and are such slick performers.

Other than that, I see so many retro acts  Just booked a ticket for Take That/Sugababes next summer but this year I’ve seen Robbie Williams, Christina Aguilera, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Texas to name only pre-2000s acts. All were fantastic although I didn’t enjoy Xtina as much as I expected to.
