Breaking through with a reasonably big #2 hit earlier in the year they followed it up with another top 20 before vanishing from the chart for good by the time the new decade rolled over. However this track clearly remained somewhat popular even moreso than their at-the-time bigger hit, now with over 100m Spotiplays. It narrowly misses out on #1 here despite a very big points total and having more votes than any other song.

'Never Forget You' is another great song and a #20 peak for it feels a bit low. I can't remember if it was because of the MJ effect or not though hindering it. Then again probably wouldn't have got much further still.

A hugely long running hit now and one that's aged very well too. 2008 was MGMT's year with them having three top 40 hits, with this one re-entering in 2009 to reach a top 20 peak. They would however never reach the top 40 again afterwards. A very well deserved winner here!!

Also TIL I learned they quietly put out a new album just last month (which is not really new but a live performance from 2011 belatedly released lol).

Aw at 'Untouchable' missing. Their only #1 on my personal chart. 'Love Etc' is also fab. A forgotten hit actually.

 

Would have liked 'Up All Night' to do a bit better than that and 'What About Now' but tbh the latter was never going to :lol:

Mostly great set of songs in that top 10 though, and glad that New Divide got a top 20 finish at least.

Another great top 5, those top few are so much bigger than their chart peaks suggest. Lily Allen is 1 place too high and I'm glad Jason Mraz wasn't last with all those -2s :lol: Thanks for running these Dan!

Good Top 10 and awesome Top 3 - would have loved The Noisettes to clinch it but Kids also brill.

Noisettes would have been a better winner by far imo! One of the best pop tunes of the decade. Kids is a good song but I was never a huge fan, prefer Time To Pretend.

 

Thought Veronicas & Paramore would have been higher. And a shame Snow Patrol's best song isn't as fondly remembered here as some of their overrated ones (Set Fire...)

 

And good to see a 2010 edition, makes sense to complete the set!
