It’s strange that they’ve been added high to a fairly prominent Christmas playlist, but were fairly low on the quiet NMF playlist this week.

Not Spotify adding them near the top of their Christmas playlist. Does it even mention Christmas in it?

76,578 first day streams on Spotify for LadBaby.

 

Not sure how that compares to the Ed and Elton collab but that did 20k sales of its 136k opening tally on streams, so this will have to pick up a lot to come near that. I notice it's been added to the Christmas Is Coming playlist in the 4th spot though, so that will be a big boost - the playlist has over 1m likes!

That is rather poor, in comparison The Kunts have 220,608 combined streams across all 13 of their versions (see below breakdown). Though I expect not all of those will count to the chart because of the 10 streams per day rule. Though I guess if LadBaby now have playlist support their streams will improve somewhat throughout the week.

I honestly think The Kunts will be #1 this year. They seem to be doing a lot better on iTunes, and once it gets even a slither of media coverage the sales will skyrocket imo. A song called f*** the Tories is probably the singular most popular thing you could release at the moment. Even the rich people and racist people seem to hate them at the moment.

Those odds were just too good.

But I doubt it will happen.

If Ladbaby fail The Kunts don’t have to improve much on previous years to get there, as they’ve done 53k before and Wham! are likely to do 60k max.

I do think Wham! doing it in Christmas week would genuinely be a win for proper Christmas week, though I wouldn’t want it to happen every year haha.

Problem for older Christmas songs is of course that their peak comes next week. 60k in downloads would be enough for #1.

Unless it can be proven that one of the Kworb alternatives is accurate, we don’t really have any way of telling that the combined versions of Kunts are outperforming LadBaby.

 

They could be outpacing the top one by 20 times, who knows.

The equivalent Saturday last year (18 Dec), Wham! did 750k on Spotify, so yesterday was a 20% increase on that - same across the board this week and they could do 70k sales maybe?
