I hope RAYE can leapfrog both Mariah and Wham! to get #1. If not this Friday, I hope she grabs it next Friday

Looking to be very close in the album chart. I would imagine Olly will get it as he will pull out all the stops where as Taylor will remain unbothered

I think if she doesn't get it this week, she'll have to wait until Jan, as the Christmas songs are just going to keep on increasing more heavily

rooting for RAYE this week! pleaseeeeee get the #1! also wouldn't be surprised if taylor gets #1 on albums tbh
I’m surprised Xmas songs are getting heavy this year. They were heavy last year but not heavy enough to go #1
Olly is doing personalised video messages when you pre-order a vinyl.

Pre-order? Well that won't be good enough for this week

Hoping Taylor can catch up with him! :D

whilst Mariah and Wham! are doing a fair bit better this year compared to last, the main factor in them missing #1 last year is that we had new songs by Adele and Ed Sheeran selling a lot.

These were the sales for last year's equivalent week:

01 76,708 Ed Sheeran & Elton John - Merry Christmas [14,055 downloads, 8,101 CDs]

02 53,072 Adele - Easy On Me

03 43,865 Wham! - Last Christmas [without ACR: 86,814]

04 42,975 Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas Is You [without ACR: 84,637]

05 36,391 GAYLE - abcdefu

and at this point in the midweeks:

1 Ed Sheeran & Elton John - Merry Christmas (46,265) *

2 Adele - Easy On Me (31,551)

3 Wham! - Last Christmas (27,736)

4 Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas Is You (27,012)

5 GAYLE - abcdefu (20,575)

I think Olly might lose this battle - he has literally done everything he can and has added signings and album launch shows for later in the year, heavy reductions, personalised messages etc., but there are only so many physicals you can shift outside of your fanbase and I’m not sure what tricks are left to get more sold at this stage.
Olly is where Stormzy was last week against Cliff Richard but unfortunately Olly obviously doesn’t have the same streaming power. I hope he will hold on he did say he would chew his fingers off to shift 200000 albums.

Considering the effort put in by Olly Murs his sales are disappointing.

Number 1 would make all the work more worth while if the album can hold the position.

I wonder will Lewis Capaldi miss out on a top 20 debut. I know it won't a difference as it will probably peak in January.

Im nervous for Olly, i really hope he can hold on even if it's by only 1 sale.

Even if Pointless misses out on a top 20 debut, it might climb into the top 10 once all of the Christmas songs have left the chart for another year.

Sure it will but this is a song that many had as contender for debut at #1 or minimum top 5

so bit of a let down

I thought Lewis had the fanbase and 24/7 promotion to jump ahead of the Christmas music but his debut Spotify streams were a lot lower than expected. His CDs are planned for next week but I don’t know if that will be enough to make a big dent now. Strictly might help but the results is on Monday instead.
