Am I right in saying that the best bet in stopping LadBaby in getting number one is probably getting tens of thousands of people to actually download Mariah Carey and Wham this year, as that will then count for a lot when adding on top of all their streams (despite the ACR rule). Or is ACR still in effect even with paid-for downloads too?

No-one knows. We will see how The Kunts and Sidemen's sales stack up in the midweeks.

Sidemen will have streams, but will have awful downloads compared to the other two. Don’t think they have a chance

We can work it out fairly well based on previous years' sales, they won't be anywhere near LadBaby.

People said the same before RATM in 2009! There will be a dip in sales for LadBaby this year, definitely, without the Sheeran/Elton involvement.

Is there any evidence that LadBaby voted Tory or is it just an undenied rumour?

He was asked in 2019, but "refused to say" who he voted for. He went on to say "I'm sure the government will do a brilliant job" - let's just say that I wouldn't expect someone who is left-wing to say that, given the Tories record since 2010.

The implication that they voted Tory stems from this comment they made in the Guardian, I believe

Of the new Conservative administration, Hoyle said: “I’m sure they’re gonna do a great job.” Pressed on whether a government that introduced austerity would do anything to mitigate the issue of food poverty, he said that the nation had to have faith that “the right people” had been voted in. He declined to state who he had voted for, but clarified that he had voted, and that it was important to do so.

It should be disqualified from the charts

Disqualify it because he is a charidee grifter unfunny stale tuneless out of date mouldy sausage roll.

DISQUALIFY IT!

How much have they sold the past few years when debuting at #1?
"I'm sure they're going to do a great job" could have been said sarcastically. The second part of the comment is a stronger hint that he voted for this shower.
The previous singles all had a certain charm but this one is truly awful. The most surprising discovery of all though is that Martin Lewis can sing!
To equate the current cost of living crisis with the Ethiopian famine is disgraceful IMO

I'd also say that wanting 5 Christmas number 1s, despite not having a modicum of musical talent, is such a Tory thing to do. ;)

THIIIIIS!!!!! SO MUCH THIIIIIIIS!!!! GAAAUUEEEEWWW!!!!!

How much money is this actually going to raise for The Trussell Trust from, say 100k sales? The Trust has annual expenditure of £10.68m looking at their last budget - so if downloads are 79p and Apple takes c.30p and the record company takes c.42p - LB is left with 7p from each download to donate - about £7,000 against an annual expenditure of £10.68m.

The whole thing is performative nonsense.

I think the criticism they levelled at the Kunts last year was also very very telling.

Yup@!@

As Avril Lavigne once ssid, could they mske it anymore obvious?!

I don’t think it’s a conservative idea to believe that someone with no talent should be able to have 5 Christmas #1s because conservatives generally believe in meritocracy.

Anyway this whole concept is really really gross. Times may be tough but we’re not in famine. If you made a list of countries where there is starvation the UK would fall a very long way short.

Agreed. Hearing it sung out to the tune of Band Aid really made this song choice just feel wrong. At least with the other parodies, there wasn't a cause behind the original songs so the novelty value was the main focus.

Rooting for RAYE or Christmas Drilling this year.
