December 20, 20223 yr YOU SHOULD ALL BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES!! Not only are you letting families go hungry on Christmas Day but now you want to see all the disabled children upset on Christmas Day! Are you going to be the ones to tell them WE didn't get them NUMBER 1?? They will be crying into their trifle!! HEARTLESS!! :funky: <DOWNLOAD SONG HERE> Edited December 20, 20223 yr by Megg065
December 20, 20223 yr Last Christmas is actually down on where it was in the Monday mids last year (21,529) by about 2.5k. Despite doing 10-20% bigger numbers on Spotify which made it look like 65k is possible, I guess it's on track for only about 55k now... In Monday mids last year Wham was on 18,852 so it’s up slightly this year (19,044)
December 20, 20223 yr Not from what I've seen (last year's thread) In any case, 8k for Wham! on theoretically their biggest day of the week for streams (incl Saturday's Spotify + Sunday's Amazon) suggest they aren't going to do more than 56k for the week.
December 20, 20223 yr Lmao that is truly shameless, I always had my suspicions it had become an ego trip but this has made it all the more clear, A pathetic individual x Even if he does still get there, now he knows he can’t just waltz there, I think he’ll be cautious about trying again unless he gets Ed Sheehan back, but let’s not give him any ideas
December 20, 20223 yr Don’t know how the missing data compares but I think Wham! will do at least 60k just based on the fact that they’ve been up on the equivalent last year’s week in previous weeks. Edited December 20, 20223 yr by JulianT
December 20, 20223 yr I'm surprised Wham! are slightly behind where they were on the Monday update last year despite higher Spotify numbers, so it's getting fewer plays on other platforms presumably? Yes, if LadBaby only need 20k more then in theory it sounds easy enough. I await more signed CDs, Greggs in-store signings, alternative takes featuring only the 'celebs' and more to boot. December 20, 20223 yr I’m not 100% convinced that the tactics will work all that well if people don’t want the product in the first place. Signed CDs work for someone like Ed because it’s a song people would be listening to anyway and people think might as well get a signed copy. I sense there’s just much less appetite for this LadBaby release and yes they might be able to flog a few more thousand sales out which might make the difference but I don’t think they’ll suddenly surge to 100k but anyway we’ll see.

Me neither, I think the best LadBaby can hope for personally is 70k this year, but it sounds like that would be more than enough. It shows how little the public care about the Christmas No.1 now that there are viable contenders in Wham! and Mariah that nobody is particularly getting behind so far in terms of campaigning. It would be very, very easy to overthrow LadBaby this year but nobody cares enough to do so - despite hundreds of people, maybe more, on Twitter giving the impression that they want something different. Yes, The Kunts are trying but they are too far behind to count, it has to be Wham! or Mariah that people back as the alternative. It took over 450k to overcome the X Factor in 2009, yet people mobilised and did it, this year it won't even take 70k probably. And Mariah and Wham! are on lock for 55k anyway, so they only need to mobilise 15,000 extra sales from somewhere. Yet with their highest versions, currently Mariah is at No.20 on iTunes and Wham! No.53!
December 20, 20223 yr Well as has been mentioned we want LadBaby to think they have it in the bag. So there should be a massive download Wham! / Mariah campaign arranged for Thursday, but yes not sure who’s going to do it haha.

They even have to give instructions on how to use iTunes Store because people don't use it these days.

I guess the other issue might be that the two viable contenders are old classics that everyone probably owns five times over. They might go to download either song and see it already in their library and not bother searching for an alternative version, or frankly care enough to do so. I guess in 2009 it felt like overthrowing X Factor was a cultural moment that people wanted to be part of, regardless of the song, and it probably helped that the song - though a recognised classic - was not just something already in the charts.
December 20, 20223 yr No one has started any campaign so I can’t see it being done without a push from someone either tomorrow or Thursday
December 20, 20223 yr We shall revive the Spice Girls "Stop to the Top" campaign, but this time we will succeed*! Stop LadBaby from #1 and give the Spice Girls a 10th #1 and 4th Christmas #1 *_* (Even though I'm joking, the lyrics actually feel quite appropriate for the situation! Stop right now thank you very much, I need somebody with a human touch) The newest version of LadBaby is now showing at #4 on iTunes by the way, Karaoke version slides to #5. * #78 in 2007 lol
December 20, 20223 yr That is beyond tacky and tasteless. If he cared so much about the charity, he would be happy with any position he gets. exactly... his priority would be how much money they've raised, not a chart position
December 20, 20223 yr OCC ALBUMS UPDATE: Cliff Richard edges ahead of Taylor Swift on the albums chart, but only 60 chart sales currently sit between them! https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/c...um-race__38139/

December 20, 20223 yr Is streaming data missing? i would say so yeah! lizzo looked strangely high on the monday mids - normally the amazon data is evened out so shes closer to her actual position so id say theres missing data
December 20, 20223 yr COME ON CLIFF :cheer: - MISTLETOE AND SLEIGH ALL THE WAY TO #1. Edited December 20, 20223 yr by Megg065
December 20, 20223 yr I’d love for Cliff to get #1 but streaming is on Taylor’s side. I remember the times when she was selfish with her music by not adding it to streaming platforms and still selfish with her music by not allowing it onto compilations
