I think Jim’s right that Wham! are on for about 57k. On that basis LasBaby need to sell 10k, so 5k per day. I think they may well hold on but I don’t think it’s 100%. Remember that on Sunday they only sold 5k - then they released more versions and sales went back up but that effect’s now worn off.

Do we have any data on how many Wednesday/Thursday sales they have got in previous years?

Which group was that, this one? https://www.facebook.com/groups/notladbaby

Think so - I’m now blocked from it just for saying that Thursday Spotify streams don’t count.

I saw members saying that they were going to spend all of Thursday listening to the Kunts on Spotify and felt bad for them because they really needed to know that they’re barking up the wrong tree on 3 fronts:

1 Thursday Spotify streams don’t count so they need to buy

2 If they did they’d be capped at 10 so no point listening all day anyway

3 The Kunts are too far behind and they need to back Wham! or at least Mariah

But I don’t think they want to listen so whatevs. ;)

OK own up, which one of you started this FB group lmao

It was actually set up by John Morter! The Facebook description says:

"So in 2008 this group was the original that campaigned to 'Rickroll' Christmas...to beat the X Factor to the Xmas No.1 as after 3 Xmas No.1s by them we'd had enough. The song sold enough to be #3 but Sony purposely lowered the track to #73 (they actually admitted it twice)...not good, but we'd get them next year"

I have no clue what he's on about with this...

Pity. With 3.3k members, if they all just downloaded a couple of versions of Wham they could actually make the difference.

They’ve had a lil argue about it since, with one of them saying “Deleted me when I asked for evidence after I looked on his profile where he actively and regularly supports the torys”.

No idea how true their accusations are though!

yeah thats the thing, they dont put any effort into the songs so they all sound horrendously autotuned and frankly shit. if they actually tried to make them sound good (ok roxy has a good voice but lets be honest mark takes centre stage on all of them and he cannot sing to save his life) then maybe they'd do better on streaming and have more support, but because its the same joke and the same shit covers year in year out people get annoyed and bored

But last year was the biggest one sales wise (albeit with the might of Ed and Elton) so I think it does depend on the song a bit!

Hasn't Morter run enough campaigns now to be trying to unify everyone behind one song, ideally the closest competition? And to know getting streams involved is almost completely futile and these things work best on downloads.

Sony purposefully lowered it to #73?

Surely that’s not true

None of that’s true haha. I started writing friendly factual responses to some of the comments but then they were all deleted by the host and I was thrown out. And literally all I said was they need to BUY their preferred contender.

Yes that's right and Jon Morter is still an admin

if they're blocking people for speaking sense they are as bad as ladbaby. what a shame that they have their heads so far up their asses that they dont listen to reason

As I said if all the members of that group went on a Wham downloading campaign they could actually make the difference.

Pity they don't seem that clued up.

Random chart trivia: In 1960 The Drifters were denied a Christmas #1, and now 62 years later the same fate may befall The Grifters 🤞

Today is the first day of the winter solstice! It's a great time to manifest :cheeseblock:

Doesn't matter, CRYBABYFOR#3FLOP! The sales this year have collapsed, so we wouldn't be able to extrapolate much from that.

Plus, they have their beggin videos this year!

What's most frustrating is the fact that, is we didn't have ACR, they would have no shot at the number 1. At least in the last 4 years, I've been able to think "well, I guess they were the most consumed track this week"...but if they scrape it, then god, it'll be grim.

True but out of interest I found their Wednesday midweek sales history from previous Buzzjack threads. If i've calculated right they had taken about 78% of their final sales by the Wednesday midweeks in 2021 and 81% of their final sales by the Wednesday midweeks in 2020. 20% of their total as of today's midweeks is 9,342 which would give them a total of 56,051.

But if the slump in their sales this year means they only increase by 10% between now and the final chart that gives them 51,316 sales putting them at clear risk of being toppled.

All these are just hypothetical numbers I must stress but does suggest the race might not quite be over.

They did nearly 30k from Wednesday to the final tally last year but I think it’s quite a different situation now. The top version seems to be down to 60% of the Sidemen (I know LivePopBars needs a bit of a pinch of salt) - my hunch is that they’re now doing under 5k per day on iTunes. Maybe they’re getting downloads from somewhere else or some CD sales will appear from nowhere and they’ll take it comfortably but I really don’t think people should give up hope at this stage.
