also i saw somewhere that the trussel trust tweeted ladbaby have donated £1+ for them, but only £305k of that was from the charity singles. IK its not equal from each of the 4 (this ones incomes hasnt been counted yet) but thats roughly £76k from each one. sure thats a decent amount, but idk i was expecting more from the singles! *shrug*

i've listened to last christmas so much i could sing it in my sleep :lol: its a good'un though, definitely a timeless classic and deserving of its status as one of the greatest christmas songs of all time.

The post said they had raised £1,305,000 for the Trussell Trust. Which means they have raised £1m for the charity without the number 1 singles. So the whole "we need to get to number 1 to raise more money for the charities" thing feels extra unnecessary, as it shows they can clearly raise tons for the charity without even releasing music!

I think it could be argued that them releasing songs annually, and therefore maintaining a high profile every Christmas, would in turn have contributed to the £1m raised by other means [i assume that includes things like their merchandise]. So the exposure from the singles fuels the overall LadBaby brand and their ability to have raised that much overall.

Ooh what a week it's been, think LadBaby still has it, while that sucks, it'll at least be interesting to see the record for most Christmas #1's broken, especially from a YouTube channel that only gets around 100K views a video, that'll be a strange part of Chart history and I'm oddly glad to experience it here.

 

While Wham & Mariah Carey are great and should've got the XMas #1 years ago, they already reached #1 and it's more exciting to see new songs compete for #1 whether they were recent releases or campaigns

 

I hope the Kunts actually reach #1 at some point they're great, f*** the T*ries is the first song from them that I like as a song itself, I'm happy they're putting more creativity into it this time

 

I haven't listened to the Sidemen track yet but excited that other, bigger YouTubers are campaigning for a #1, also the amount of times KSI just missed #1 is baffling even if I don't know or care much about him as a YouTuber or Musician much

 

I quite like the idea of getting Stop and Headlines as Xmas #1's to get Spice Girls to a tied record 5 Xmas #1's and all 11 of their singles to #1 I think that would be fun

Fair point. I donated to the Trussell Trust through an event at work a few years back just because it was a charity whose profile had been raised by the Hoyles!

I mean I didn’t have anything against LadBaby at first. We Built This City was naff but inoffensive and they were unexpectedly thrown into the limelight raising for a good cause. But each year the concept has become more tired and the fame seems to have gone to their heads slightly more. Then this year the song was downright distasteful and they’ve been saying ridiculous things like “How would the people at the foodbanks feel that we’ve been knocked off the iTunes #1?”

They know how to play the game. Plenty of celebrities play the guilt trip card. Because the public fall for it every single time.

I've seen people say this before but I've never quite understood that comment - he's had two singles that peaked at #2 and both of those were only in the top 3 for one week. So he hasn't been that close to #1 many times? Unless it's just that in both those cases his sales weren't far off the #1?
