Last year's timing worked well so I think we'll go for that again, 1–5 for the Top 100 with the room open to honourable mentions just before. Provided this suits Joseph of course as he'll be posting the detailed chart info throughout (I'll be hosting the Synctube room).

That's perfect, and just the right time for me to go to the chippy after :D

I think that will be the last Ladbaby single as they've broken all the Christmas chart records that were possible to break.

If £76K per year is the correct figure, that's still a large amount of food for foodbanks.

I believe Paul McCartney still has the record for most Xmas No. 1s (3 with the Beatles, 1 with Wings, 2 with Live Aid). So that record could still be taken by Ladbaby. Of course, McCartney could cut that off st the pass by guest starring on the next one.

There isn’t going to be a 6th #1 next year. If they release again they won’t make it. The concept has run its course.

Happy to be quoted and have egg on my face if I turn out to be wrong. :D

Eh, I would've been quite surprised if they'd lost it, the best part of this was the mask finally slipping and them showing themselves to be complete narcissists who are using charity to further their egos and ultimately do nothing to get to the root of the problem. And I was pleased to see there was a fair amount of backlash and the public seeing through his act this time (the fact he was stating this week of all weeks when it isn't gonna vanish after is the biggest tell-tale), 65k is massively down on last year and is only gonna go further down in future years, I think the end is in sight, now he knows he can't waltz there and he has the record, there's really no reason for him to try again. It's not like he really cares that much about food banks, otherwise he wouldn't just pop up at Christmas while lavishing in his riches all year.

Yeah, he's got the record, but that's just numbers, he will have no musical legacy whatsoever, much like the X Factor winners, just a Christmas novelty we'll all be thanking the lord died out in future years.

I'd love to be confident this would be the end but i'm really not.

We've been burnt the past few years by thinking "he'll stop now he's matched this record/beaten this record/got an all-star collab...." Why should taking a big sales hit stop him more than anything else if he still took #1 by a comfortable margin in the end?

Sensibly of course you would think it would be best to go out on somewhat of a high than take the risk and lose a streak- but will his clearly huge ego allow that thought to prevail?

What really annoys me, apart from the incredibly poor quality of the Ladbaby singles, is that they claim to be doing this all to raise as much money as possible for charity but they only care about the chart week and then that is the end of it. If they really wanted to raise money for charity they would fundraise all year round.
I'm not going to get into the debate regarding the songs involved, but 4 new entries in the Top 10 during Christmas week seems quite a feat! I wonder when the last time that happened was?

It last happened in 2005, with Shayne Ward - That's My Goal (#1), Eminem - When I'm Gone (#5), Girls Aloud - See The Day (#9) and Coldplay - Talk (#10). In that instance all were completely new to the chart, whereas in the 2022 case the Sidemen were already at #41 last week so were only new to the Top 40 this week. Also, in 2005, The Pogues were at #3 making Fairytale's first appearance in the charts since it iended it's original run in February 1988, so it too would have felt to a lot of people like a more or less new entry in that year even if it was technically a re-entry. Finally an honourable mention to 2009, which had 4 songs in the top 10 in Xmas week that hadn't been in the Top 40 the previous week (Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name #1, Joe McElderry - The Climb #2, 3OH3 - Starstukk ft Katy Perry #5 and Journey - Don't Stop Believin' #9), but in that instance Journey had been in the Top 40 a few weeks previously, and had dropped out again only to return stronger than before, whilst Rage had previously been in the Top 40 in 1993, causing Bruno Brookes no end of trouble.

The Pogues also were in the chart in December 1991 with FONY!

I only went by the OCC database for this, but the 1991 entry has that year in brackets and doesn't credit Kirsty, suggesting it is a different recording from the one that charted in 1987-88 and 2005-2022.

Please don't take this as anything official, i've tried to do the chart without acr - and to get the non-acr sales i simply x2 so its not that accurate. also for gaps i just did the mid points so its not exact sales but roughly heres what it would look like (i think, dont come for me its 2am)

Meh at LadBaby getting the top again but it wasn't quite the 100% foregone conclusion I assumed it'd be. Only a 90% foregone conclusion. Thanks to Sidemen and The Kunts for making the top 10 a little more interesting, really impressive last push for Sidemen to get all the way up to #3 (and that's now technically 6 top 3 hits and a #4 for KSI without hitting #1, surely has to happen eventually). Shame The Kunts couldn't quite keep up their top 5 streak but top 10 for a third year in a row we still stan, I had moderately mixed thoughts about their song last year but fully supportive of this one x

Did they actually announce 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree' as being by Justin Bieber / intentionally decide to play his version instead or did they just play the wrong version by mistake? :') Mess either way.

Also I am not standing for the slander against 'Sleigh Ride' in this thread. If there's any positive to the increased Americanisation of the Christmas takeover it's that becoming a bigger chart presence, such a joyous song and one of my favourite Christmas classics. Honestly I think I prefer the really ancient Christmas songs in the chart to the only moderately ancient ones on balance - Darlene Love, José Feliciano and Dean Martin are all great too imo (I also reject the statement in this thread that Frank Sinatra's take on the latter is better, there's not much difference between the two but Dean's voice just sounds a lot 'warmer'. And while I'm at it I reject the positivity towards 'Snowman', it's mid at best and society has progressed beyond the need for Sia, apart from 'Chandelier' which can stay).

Kind of disappointing that 'Santa Tell Me' seems to be losing ground again (even falling behind 'Underneath The Tree' since last week), I didn't care for it much when it first came out but it's grown on me a lot now to the point where it's pretty easily my favourite of the usual trio of BuzzJack bait 'recent' Christmas classics (i.e. with Kelly and Leona, though Coldplay >>> all 3 obvz, hope they'll get back to the top 40 again next week). Really hoped and thought this should be the year for it to finally go top 10 but looks again like it'll be falling short. Maybe next year... I'll accept Bobby Helms cracking the top 10 for the first time instead though (not as good as the above mentioned ancient Christmas songs but still kind of iconic).

How sweet they took it out, despite the bitter campaign launched by so many here, who then took it to other platforms based all on bitterness and nastiness and lies. It should not be forgotten a certain moderator lied about posters here and was allowed to get away with it. I guess in the wash up Josh will look at that. Maybe

Tf are you on about?!

And CryBaby was lying and being manipulative AND COVERING BAND AID, co-opting it, which is SHOCKING, seeing as that STILL RAISES MONEY FOR FAMINE! They should have lost.

No moderator did that, so wind your neck in.

No, you are wrong. they took out number 1, accept it, get over it. And yes a moderator openly lied and refused to address it when they were called on it. Twist and turn the figures all you like, doesn't change the fact the are NUMBER 1

They know who they are.

Just look at the comments on youtube about the song, the song touched many and raised money as well, put aside your prejudices for just 4 minutes

if your talking about my post, that was just a bit of fun looking at how the chart would be without acr - it wasn't me claiming they're not #1 or anything...
