Sweet Melody's weekly peak on Spotify was 1.7 million streams, Escapism. managed 3.4 million last week including the sped up version. Clear to see which is bigger

Great but SM went to number 1 in Jan and ended up 47th so that’s my comparison.

Again, feel free to disagree and move on.

'Sweet Melody' was past its natural peak and was pushed (barely) to #1 on a week where that required pitiful sales thanks to a well timed download campaign, the trajectory of 'Escapism.' is much more comparable to 'abcdefu' - but yes of course we'll revisit the predictions a year from now and see who was right, maybe it'll fall off quickly and I'll look silly x (cue it now not even getting to #1)

Also re DaBaby he has released a ton of material this year which has made zero impact even in the US, much like 6ix9ine I'm pretty sure he's well past the point where anyone cares and I'd be surprised if he ever made much of a comeback (and that's down to the music as much as it is any controversies). He's certainly not ever getting any big pop features again either. But yeah, let me stop arguing with other people's predictions in a prediction thread

Jade, Perrie and Leigh-Anne all release solo material, with Jade having the biggest hit out of the three.

If by biggest you mean 1 week top 10 and never heard of again, then yes, I suppode that will do marginally more than the other 2!

As per my previous post, it’ll scrape top 50 EOY. You don’t know any better than me!

Have a fab Xmas x

Central Cee will release collab with an american rapper. Gets number one with it or other song.

Fred again will get his first top 10 single.

More afrobeats in the charts.

We will get some phonk tracks in the chart, possibly a phonk remake of an older song.

I’m trying to think of what could be the next song to go somewhat viral thanks to TikTok, I thought about NO by Meghan Trainor (which K-pop fans managed to get semi viral) but she already has Made You Look impacting so idk

Maybe we’ll get a random mashup that goes viral and makes it big on the charts, a la Numb/Encore?

Speaking of early 2000's nostalgia, I'd keep an eye out on "Creepin'" - it doesn't have the streams RAYE or SZA may have rn but I think the post-holiday meltdown will definitely give it some good longevity, possibly a long time in the top 3 if lucky.

Ooh why not xx

- Ariana Grande won't trouble the top 40 with any new material this year, instead making us wait until 2024. If she does enter the chart outside of the festive period then it will be with an older song that has blown up on TikTok.

- Måneskin achieve a #1 album with 'Rush!' (a properly co-ordinated release this time with several formats and a dead release week by the looks of it, why not) - Jack Saunders will fanboy over this

- The xx return with a #1 album

- Noah Cyrus will achieve a first top 40 hit thanks to TikTok

- Tove Lo will return to the top 10 as a featured artist

- Bombay Bicycle Club will release a new album and achieve another top 5 with it

- The U.K. Eurovision entry for 2023 will chart at #16

- Beabadoobee will achieve a top 15 hit - this time as the lead artist

- FLO will achieve a top 40 single and top 10 album

- the impending Gorillaz and Bad Bunny collab will finally result in a top 40 hit for the current era. The album will go to #1.

- Baby Queen will achieve a first top 75 single. Maybe due to the upcoming Season 2 of Heartstopper.

- 'Jolene' by Dolly Parton will experience a resurgence due to TikTok

- Lana Del Rey will achieve a new top 40 hit this year and score yet another #1 album

- The Weeknd will finally release 'Less Than Zero' as a single, perhaps in remixed form and it'll make the top 40

- RAYE will achieve a top 5 album off the back of 'Escapism' / general goodwill for her at the moment

- Ava Max's new album will chart at #6

- A song by The Cure will take off on TikTok and re-enter the top 100

- Wet Leg's album will return to the top 10 following the BRIT Awards, perhaps due to a 'Chaise Longue' performance.

- Anne-Marie will release a Christmas Amazon exclusive

- Dua Lipa achieves a #1 single and album, the record will include a Jack Harlow feature

- Freya Ridings will finally release a follow-up album that will chart lower than the previous one, but still top 10

Edit: some more xo

- 'American Teenager' by Ethel Cain will become a hit despite underperforming in the BuzzJack Song Contest, have seen her name pop up a few times (latest: the inclusion in Obama's playlist )

- Suki Waterhouse will achieve a first top 40 hit

- Niall Horan will return with a #2 album

- Paramore will achieve a #1 album

- Taylor Swift will achieve another two chart-topping albums with the Taylor's Versions of 'Speak Now' and '1989'

- Caroline Polachek will achieve a top 100 charting album

Another Miley #1 would be great! Her current ones don’t represent the absolute best of her discography tbh.

1. Rihanna’s ninth album is finally released!! It has a massive streaming debut and UK wise performs better than ANTI did in its debut week on streaming figures alone. The albums promotion however is minimal outside of Super Bowl.

2. Sam Smith scores another #1 album. The Ed collab on the album gets single treatment and playlist support. The album itself goes onto have a fairly decent chart run but not massive debut sales.

3. P!nk scores another #1 album in the UK with Trustfall.

4. LadBaby is finally dethroned from the festive #1 single.

5. Lana gets another #1 album with decent opening sales. The album has a track what goes viral on Tik Tok.

6. Ellie Goulding scores a #1 album in debut week with Higher than Heaven. It drops sharply from the charts though.

7. Katy Perry releases a new studio album what doesn’t go to #1 but does contain a top 40 single.

8. No new Ariana album but we do get a new single and it’s not related to Wicked.

9. No new Gaga album but we do get a new single what’s unrelated to a movie soundtrack/ joker (think standalone single ala The Cure). She also gets more viral moments of past hits on Tik Tok.

10. Ed gets another #1 single and album but they don’t have the gigantic sales they once did.

11. Taylor gets at least one more #1 album from Taylor’s version re-releases. Midnights ends the year end top 10 albums again as well and her tour is a gigantic success.

12. Maluma crosses over to the UK with a track where he’s lead artist and it goes top 20 over here.

13. Justin Bieber releases an album what is his most critically acclaimed yet.

14. Lewis Capaldi gets another #1 single before album release. His album is also a big seller although less so than his first.

15. Jade, Perrie and Leighanne all score top 10 peaks with their first solo releases. Leigh’s is the most acclaimed critically of the three.

Would love for The Weeknd to push Less Than Zero as a post-album single and have it become a deserved smash hit.

PAAHAHAHHAAAAA

Likeeeee one half of Subwoolfer being Ben Adams from A1.

Ed Sheeran will release a new album and it will be as big as all his others with several hits. People on Buzzjack only will tire of him and be called ‘ridiculous’ by the same posters who will also claim that ‘Ed gets too much hate’ and ‘he can’t help being popular’.

Ladbaby won’t release for Christmas and the Christmas chart will be completely unremarkable.

Pink will get a no.1 album but it won’t hang around and she won’t dent the singles top 40 unless she has a high profile collab.

The End of Year chart will be packed full of catalogue hits.

More chart rules will be introduced to please chart nerds in an attempt to speed up the chart but the attempt will be futile because staleness always wins out. Posters in this forum will claim whatever the OCC do is the best option for the charts because they always do.
