It is most likely not going top happen. If, it did, any of there recent singles may work as they are strong singles that totally under-performed due to who it was released by not fitting into the new age demographic that stream and download.

I wonder will anyone ever cover a steps song in the future?

"One For Sorrow" is a candidate for one of those piano ballad covers, i.e. a John Lewis ad

That is interesting, your point really made me realise that One For Sorrow could make a lovely choice for a John Lewis advert.

Back To You was the standout non single on their debut. That is certainly a song i would welcome a performance of.

To me that track was a carbon copy of Janet Jackson's Together Again, which had come out a few months prior.

I literally can't hear that at all. They're totally different. It's weird how that happens and we just hear songs completely differently.

Back to You is a bop though.

Omg yes!!! I was desperate for a luv u more / back to you double aside release after better best forgotten!!

They could have easily squeezed another hit single off Step One, and Back To You would have easily become a Top 10 hit.

Interesting! I googled to see if anybody has ever picked it up and there was this thread on Digital Spy a few years ago:

Not that a thread on another forum is much to support my opinion but to me the chorus melody progression is incredibly similar.

I do wonder if there were some plans to go with Love u more / Too weak to resist as a double a-side for final release seeing as these were performed on shows and both were featured with videos (albeit cheap) on the Step One video? But then they decided to hold off and go with Love got a hold of your heart for a new album campaign later on...

Step One could have had another 3 singles from it - Back To You, Love You More and My Heart Will Love Again are all single worthy. Steptacular could have had Never Say Never Again released and Buzz could have had Paradise Lost and Buzzz. So I guess it's needless to say that Tears on the Dancefloor could still have milage with Glitter and Gold, No More Tears and September Sun.

And it wasn't like Steps were like S Club and released barely any singles off an album. They always had roughly 6 singles released off each album already.

The joy with Steps and it is very much the same the the recent album, they have always had albums that had numerous single choices and all their albums contained songs that didn't make singles but were equally as good.

This, was something that stopped me purchasing S Club 7 albums, while they did some great singles i found the album tracks in general extremely weak. I think i bought 1 s club album at full price and was disappointed and picked up another on big discount at the time and i felt the same about both albums and never bought an album from them again.

This is so true. Step One, Steptacular and Tears are so strong as whole albums. There's very little filler across all 3. Most of the songs could have been singles at the time the albums were out. You definitely couldn't say that about most pop albums back then.

Buzz less so for me. It was always my least favourite album. Aside from Paradise Lost, Never Get Over You and Turn Around I really don't rate the other album tracks at all. They're pure filler and utter rubbish.

Buzz is a good album, enjoyable in parts, but i would agree PaulM1983. I would rate Buzz my least liked album by them to date.
I do like buzz but it's the album I listen to the least by them. At the time it's a shame they didn't do another studio album but at that point the falling outs were happening.

OMG yes I do agree that Steps have had some amazing album tracks from all of their albums. 'Step One' had an amazing run of singles '5,6,7,8'>'Last Thing On My Mind'>'One For Sorrow' >'Heartbeat' & 'Better Best Forgotten', This was perfect as it was and to be honest I was glad they didn't go with 'Love U More' which was planned as the 6th single and to be honest weren't very keen on it and doubt it would have done as well as the others. 'This Heart Will Love Again' & 'Back To You' were also fab moments on there also.

Steptacular was also amazing and even better than their debut with again another amazing run of singles = 'Tragedy'>'Love's Got A Hold On My Heart'>'After The Love Has Gone'>'Say You'll Be Mine'>'Deeper Shade Of Blue' & 'When I Said Goodbye'. Wow that's 6 there and all went top 5 which was an amazing achievement that never happens these days. The good old days of 90's pop music. Also loved 'Never Say Never Again' + 'I Surrender', both fantastic album tracks and ranks up there with the singles in my opinion.

'Buzz' was probably their best album in my opinion and there were so many potential singles on there, although it was a bit odd including their not so great cover of 'Better The Devil You Know' as the first track, given that it sounded totally out of place and was about 2 years old at this point. But 'Stomp', It's The Way You Make Me Feel' & 'Summer Of Love' were some of their best singles. 'Paradise Lost' should have been released instead of either 'Here And Now' or 'You'll Be Sorry', as it's probably one of their biggest missed opportunities. Still would have kept the double a-side final single, 'PL' could have replaced either one of those songs. 'Happy Go Lucky' & 'Buzzz' could have also been potential hits as well.

I even bought 'The Last Dance' album (that's how obsessed with them I was at the time) and was gutted when they'd split up and was desperate to hear the newer songs that didn't make the UK versions of their albums . Loved 'Human Touch' & 'Mars & Venus' and their much better in their W.I.P. remixed forms. 'Just Like The First Time' I also loved and wanted this badly since I heard Lisa sing it on the 'Next Step Tour', & the amazing 'Baby Don't Dance' which I was gutted when this got cancelled due to them splitting up and would have loved to have seen a video for this, it could have easily given them another top 10 hit in early 2002.

Didn't bother with their Christmas album as I'm not keen on them to begin with, but bought 'Tears On The Dancefloor' the day it came out and boy it didn't disappoint, this should have been their comeback in 2012 instead of 'Light Up The World', and 'Scared Of The Dark' may have stood a better chance of becoming a smash hit for them back then, but oh well we got it now and it was everything I had hoped for in an amazing comeback for them, It definitely ranks as one of their best songs ever, and the 17 year gap between albums was definitely worth the wait. So many standouts on this including follow up singles 'Story Of A Heart' & 'Neon Blue', as well as the title track, 'Firefly & 'Glitter & Gold', some amazing songs here. Haven't bought the deluxe edition yet, but will do soon.

You’ll Be Sorry is a superb pop song and I’m so glad it was a single. Yep, Steps did some cracking single choices.
As i didnt purchase too many singles by Steps, were good b sides a thing of theirs?

I loved To Be Your Hero at the time, very cheesy.
