We’re meant to cut them some slack for some reason haha. Honestly if this was your debut on national radio, wouldn’t you done some research and made notes? At least appeared to be professional?

They've actually offered some better commentary on the songs than we get from the permanent presenters sometimes I think, despite the occasional (not gigantic as you're making out) error

Hyped for 070 Shake to have a UK #1 to her name this time next week *.* Salvaging an almost normal looking chart run and all.

Happy to pretend it is RAYE's debut single tbh (although she has had a few good songs before, 'Shhh' should have been a hit).

'Underneath The Tree' has grown on me a bit over the years but it in no way should be ahead of 'Santa Tell Me'.

A 3 place improvement on this song's peak is a good return. 13 weeks Top 20 too, only two less than Santa Tell Me.

Biography

Band Aid were a charity supergroup featuring mainly British and Irish musicians and recording artists. It was founded in 1984 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise money for anti-famine efforts in Ethiopia by releasing the song "Do They Know It's Christmas?" for the Christmas market that year. On 25 November 1984, the song was recorded at Sarm West Studios in Notting Hill, London, and was released in the UK on Monday 3 December. The single surpassed the hopes of the producers to become the Christmas number one on that release. Three subsequent re-recordings of the song to raise further money for charity also topped the charts, first the Band Aid II version in 1989 and the Band Aid 20 version in 2004 and finally the Band Aid 30 version in 2014. The original was produced by Midge Ure. The 12" version was mixed by Trevor Horn. - Wikipedia

They don't know everything but I think it's pretty clear that they have done some research about the songs in here at least!

Kelly still has plenty of scope to go Top 10 in future years with FONY (sadly) dropping off each year and there maybe not always being 2 high up Amazon songs.
Possible best song of 2022 lyrically, i'm so happy she went independant, so she could let loose her lyrical genius. 2020's Amy Winehouse imo. Incredible feature from 070 Shake as well. 10/10

I like RAYE and everything, but srsly?

Kelly :cheeseblock: Such a deserved new peak  The way she would've been top 10 without the two Amazon boosted tracks though

2? I've only noticed 1(the Lizzo one). :o

Edited by Jason

They’ve offered no commentary on the songs whatsoever, it really is a poor decision by Radio 1 to put these amateurs on air without any apparent training or rehearsal
2? I've only noticed 1(The Lizzo one). :o

stormzy's firebabe is boosted by an amazon orchestral version

This was always played in the USA when I went over in December about twenty years ago and sure enough, it soon made its way over here!

I didn't know she was female. I always thought she was male.
