January 8, 20233 yr Had no dispatch email for the Lewis CDs and the ‘official’ release date is this Friday - if they are ready to go and it’s that close without them being potentially included yet then I’m sure they will pull forward the release and ship them on Thursday.
January 8, 20233 yr Sure the CDs are not included yet Raye has just 1 day of streams, thats just 7K max if Lewis is 2K behind he's just on 5K, which is totally doable with the itunes downalodas (he was 1&2&3)+1 day of streams even if he's only #50 on Spotify but he's actually top 10 on both Apple and Amazon
January 8, 20233 yr I don't like the lewis capaldi song that much but I like when artists put in a fight to do well in the charts or get number 1 so if he gets there fair play.
January 8, 20233 yr quite a rare occurence seeing an act & their support act completing the top 2, especially with the support act ahead! Great to see Raye still hanging on though, this is a real battle between major label promo & independant artistry. Surprised to see Meg and Venbee still top 5 but i do expect thar SZA will overtake both and possibly Taylor by friday.
January 8, 20233 yr Yeh they were quite happy to play a song in full about Mimi Webb setting fire to someone's house... Of course one of the biggest selling singles of all time, Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' has not only the fact that the protagonist has murdered someone, they also graphically detail the method. That was never censored. I'm guessing Radio1 hardly ever play it now but wonder if other stations play it uncensored nowadays?
January 8, 20233 yr This Lewis song should have been a hit from the start, it's huge! I don't get the British public. His music has been awful so far apart from Forget Me....he finally releases a stunning well written son and it struggles. Odd!
January 8, 20233 yr Hoping RAYE gets another week and then Lewis, if he still wants it that badly, can get a week in afterwards. Wonder if Miley and/or Sam Smith et al will be future #1 contenders.

January 9, 20233 yr I don't really want to see 'Pointless' going to #1 just because I think it's a pretty turgid ballad (comfortably my least favourite of his charting songs to date oops) but it would be quite something if he's really able to close such a huge streaming gap with CDs and downloads. I still don't think he will but we'll see. To be fair to him I think it's a little too early to say that it's not going to be a long running hit as someone said earlier in the thread, it being #15 in its fifth week on the chart without any CD shenanigans is not nothing. I can see it having a pretty long run in the top 100 still. Just may be a weird looking one where it spikes to #1 / top 5 for a week and then resumes lingering in the teens for a while.

I agree that Pointless is his best song so far!
January 9, 20233 yr Impromptu Lewis Capaldi hits ranking time Hold Me While You Wait >> Before You Go >> Grace > Forget Me > Bruises >> Someone You Loved >> Pointless 'Hold Me While You Wait' is a legit great track and I have 'Before You Go' in my big shuffle playlist too. The next three are all decent albeit not ones I have any great desire to hear again. 'Someone You Loved' was always my least favourite of the first 6 but it's bumped down even further by hearing it way too many times, I can most certainly do without ever hearing it again. 'Pointless' just doesn't do it for me at all, I don't hate it but it's very 3/10, maybe 4/10 on a generous day.
January 9, 20233 yr Before You Go is easily my favourite of his, with Someone You Loved in a comfortable second place.
January 9, 20233 yr SYL is his best and only great one, the lyrics are actually genius the rest are ok-ish at most, kinda interchangeable and even harder to tell apart from each other During the first era I didn't mind the weird vocals but now I find his singing on the Jessie J level of unlistenable
January 9, 20233 yr "Pointless" reminds me of a mid Ed Sheeran song and as expected I'm kinda meh to it but a tiny bit of me is kinda curious, which is a good sign considering Lewis Capaldi songs tend to grow on me months after they've peaked. Even "Before You Go" managed to grow on me after a while. Now watch it get hammered to death and I'll be sick of it by March :drama: "Someone You Loved" remains trash though- boring production, meh concept execution, and that bridge where he sounds like a 6 year old throwing a temper tantrum did it in for me
January 9, 20233 yr My favourite LC song is "Before you go". "Pointless" is fine but every time he says POINTLESS it sounds exagerrated and it takes me out the song but I guess that is a me problem. The gap on Wednesday will be telling as RAYE is not much sign of slowing down and I'm not sure whether LC fans are streaming the song on repeat or only want a signed copy for the merch. January 9, 20233 yr Pointless is doing 100K a day on Spotify, Raye is doing more than 500K a day... it's not even close Lewis needs those 30K CD singles, maybe even 40K :D
January 9, 20233 yr I absolutely love pointless, probably my second favourite song by him behind forget me! I actually much prefer this new era of music from him so far to his older stuff
January 9, 20233 yr LOL! Just got a Ladbaby type begging email from Capaldi asking me to download Pointless as it’s only 59p!
