February 8, 20232 yr Got to hand it to Shania. She has put the in here to get the sales. #2 will still be a great achievement for RAYE considering the struggle she has had to get it out there. Mimi slowly climbing up! Potential top 10 come album release week?
February 8, 20232 yr Nice to see pinkpantheress in top 10. hope tiesto/tate hold in there too also just bought the raye cd!
February 8, 20232 yr I have to say I'm surprised Shania's putting in that much effort, I didn't imagine her being the sort of artist who would even take notice of what's happening in the UK chart!

When meeting Raye last night at her Birmingham album siging and gig she said that Shania is under Raye's old label so her worry is they will go to any effort to stop her getting the number one but said how grateful she is for all that have brought & streamed as she never imagined it could be doing as well as it is. She was so so lovely. Edited February 8, 20232 yr by Dane

February 8, 20232 yr wow at Trustfall!!!! Could even be top 25 come Friday Shania is really making an effort, kinda surprised her #1 focus market is the UK rather than the US, should be promoting on the other side of the pond too bad Young Fathers lost their #3, beaten by the This is The Weeknd playiist :/
February 8, 20232 yr As if a label would be concerned with a nobody artist such as Raye. Just because she is the pet project of a few old people here means jack shit in the real world Welll considering she left her old label due to them not letting her release her album, which was documented in the press here in the UK and heavely on social media. So that may be why they wouldn't want her to get the number one now she is an independent artist. Also 'real world' hahahaha
February 8, 20232 yr Yeah looks less hopeful for Raye now but those sales (and being #2) are a great showing for her regardless! As if a label would be concerned with a nobody artist such as Raye. Just because she is the pet project of a few old people here means jack shit in the real world Considering part of the album's subject matter is how badly that label treated her, and this is the album they didn't let her release for 7 years, it's not that crazy to think they don't want it to be number 1! Edited February 8, 20232 yr by Lunar
February 8, 20232 yr I think Shania is only predicted to be number 10 in the US chart, so maybe that is why she is concentrating her efforts here. Odd for a country artist to be doing better in the UK than in the US.

February 8, 20232 yr As if a label would be concerned with a nobody artist such as Raye. Just because she is the pet project of a few old people here means jack shit in the real world It's not that ridiculous a notion considering she has songs on the album directly criticising the label in question and the men who work there, especially if RAYE said it herself and it not just being the opinion of someone on here. Also, I have absolutely no idea who on earth you're referring to with the second part of your post but the vast majority of the RAYE fans on here are at the younger end of the demographic. Why so harsh and rude about it? Did you not like artists and albums when you were young and get drawn in by their personalities and stories?
February 8, 20232 yr The Shania album is on Republic, RAYE's beef is with Polydor isn't it? (Although both are under the UMG umbrella I guess) Love to see PinkPantheress top 10 today plus the climb for 'TRUSTFALL' (makes a change from P!nk usually dropping over the midweeks!) and Lizzy McAlpine now being comfortably top 40!
February 8, 20232 yr Come on Raye!!!! She has the potential to be one of the greatest singer/songwriters of her generation, and I’ve not seen heard a more beautiful vocal since Amy Winehouse. Lyrically she is incredible, her debut album is insanely good. Best of all, she is authentic. Re her liberation from her former label, her brave decision to reclaim her Artist integrity, has clearly paid off. Re the comment from someone about her only having old fans, is ridiculously reductive. I hope Raye gets the #1, she truly deserves it, she’s a survivor and the album is bloody brilliant. She should be celebrated for her bravery.

Odd for a country artist to be doing better in the UK than in the US. Bar Giddy Up, the album is pure pop (even Giddy Up is arguably more pop than country). Not surprised it isn’t doing as well in America considering it isn’t the sound she is known best for there.
