Very obvious choice here and glad to see that we're getting it right *.* (Wannabe as top Spice Girls song is definitely correct tho x)

easy choice ;)

how did Wannabe end up top 2? did someone bribe all the people in the spice forum to vote? :D cos we never got so many votes

If the Spice Girls forum had been involved en masse we would have at least made sure that it was either Say You’ll Be There or 2 Become 1 going the distance over Wannabe!

Robert Miles to win of course but glad Wannabe reached the final two!

There really was only one winner in this round. Taking 76% of the final vote, it is one of the most popular instrumental songs of all time from Italian DJ Roberto Concino better known as Robert Miles. After he released several non-commercial songs the previous year, he penned this composition as an antithesis to the current rave culture at the time which often resulted in anti-social behaviour after clubs closed for the night. The song managed a lengthy top 10 run in the UK but never a week at #1, kept off first by Oasis' Don't Look Back In Anger and then Take That's How Deep Is Your Love. Miles followed up with 2 further top 10s in 1996 and only one further top 40 thereafter. He sadly passed away at the young age of 47 in 2017.

After a few close shaves, the Spice Girls' debut single managed to last until the final round but it fell far short of ever threatening for the win. The single, which became a female empowerment anthem and a flagbearer for girl power in music, entered the chart at #3 but immediately rose to the top where it became the longest-running #1 single of the year and longest by a female group since Shakespeare's Sister's Stay in 1992. It would eventually go on to become the highest selling girl-group single of all time globally and in a survey carried out in 2014, it was found to be the most recognisable pop song since charts began.

Right song winning and like Uhsting says it's an 'childhood classic'!

Mind you I'm impressed with 'Wannabe' managing to come final 2 after all that.
