BREAKING NEWS!!!! :o :o

So! Meghan Trainor is actively trying to release the worst song she can possibly create - something about her being our Mother and featuring a Kardashian - in SOLIDARITY with the UK :cheeseblock: She's hoping that it will make our entry sound like a MUSICAL MASTERPIECE, with Ivor Novella level lyrics, in comparison to her new single!! Thank you, Meghan Trainor, for having UK Eurovision in your heart :cheeseblock:

Also, compare it to Loreen!! No contest.

Why compare it to Loreen? I haven’t seen anyone saying Mae is going to win or be a challenge to Loreen?

You hate Mae’s song we get it at this point.

As Loreen is how you do a pop bop for Eurovision!

Last year we had the BEST ballad - even thiugh the sabotage had us right before the second best ballad...

This year we hsve thr joint worst pop song :/

My unpopular opinion: This is the best song the UK has sent to Eurovision this century and the only one that has a possiblity of becoming a real hit prior/after Eurovision on its own merits. Space Man was only a minor hit after its placing in the final.

Am I the only one who thinks of Little Mix while listening to this song? This could have been one of their top 10 hits.

It's the first thing my housemate said too! He thought it sounded like a clubbier Confetti, and I totally hear it.

I dont agree it’s the best song the UK have sent to Eurovision because it won’t be anywhere near as successful at the competition as Space Man. It remains to be seen whether it’ll sustain the streaming numbers and the result will influence the post-contest success.

That’s great, the last entry of ours to chart as early as March was Scooch, which got to 61 for a week on release and returned at No.5 in May.

Otherwise it’s all the way back to Gina G.

I was going to say I don't remember any song in recent memory getting as high as that the week of release!

Didn’t realise Spaceman didn’t take off until the contest - I thought it had racked up some weeks in the charts prior to ESC.

I think Space Man struggled to chart initially as people still weren't taking UK chances seriously.

This year there is expectation, so it makes sense to me that she pops up in the initial mids.

'SPACE MAN' did make the low end of the top 100 the week before Eurovision (which cost it at least one week in the top 40 due to the way ACR works ddd).

Disagree with it being labelled as a 'minor hit', sure it wasn't one of the monster smashes of the year but it was pretty big.

Great for Mae to be top 20 today but will likely slip down as the week goes on. Even a top 50 placing or something is a positive sign for her already.

Space Man was pretty consistent on iTunes in comparison to previous years. I know it doesn’t count for many sales but I remember it was a sign of its popularity that it was hanging around whilst previous years dropped like a stone before re-emerging from the ashes after the actual show.

It was obviously streaming where it was lacking.

I don’t think this is likely to win the contest but I’d be surprised if we weren’t left side of the table!
They’ve removed the cap for 500 signed ones it seems after the first batch sold out - love having our ESC singles back on CD again, I hope it’s a trend that continues after it worked well for Sam last year - https://shop.maemuller.com/*/*/I-Wrote-a-So...-CD/7RD50000000

The release date is timed to coincide with the chart week where Eurovision will impact, which is great, so hopefully she can maximise sales of these. Would love to see this track make the UK top 10.

Including how the budget for the videos has drastically increased

The comparison of poor SuRie’s lonely green screen to Mae’s video is incredible
