March 1, 20233 yr Argh was hoping the gap between the top 2 would have narrowed a bit further. Ffs. Miley has remained outselling PinkPantheress every day (probably) - the margin by which she is outselling is shrinking but as long as she's still ahead the gap between them will only grow throughout the week. Appears she's down to only outselling her by a few hundred per day now which I think bodes reasonably well for next week (but then she'll likely pull further ahead again the following week with her album release, especially as the album has two versions of 'Flowers' on it which I presume will be combined). edit: just seen the post above saying the demo version of 'Flowers' is out on Friday, I doubt it'll make that much impact tbh but might not need to do much to ensure blocking PinkPantheress for another week oop Great to see Lizzy McAlpine back in the top 10 again and looking likely to get a new peak, hoping there's still a chance of Libianca sneaking top 10 at the end of the week too! Also fab to see Gorillaz heading for over 20k (and fiiiinally getting a second #1 album after so many peaking at #2 or #3) and P!nk's sales holding up pretty well too with her heading for a second week solidly over 10k! Although a bit disappointing to see shame's album so low as their last album got to #8 in 2021. Was great to see Gorillaz with 3 top 100 singles on Monday too, hoping that at least 'Silent Running' can hang on all week since it hasn't charted yet. they've already matched the 1st week sales of their last album so that's the opposite of underwhelming [/late] but after I made similar comments about Ed Sheeran's 'No.6 Collaborations Project' several times I feel like I should make the argument that 'The Now Now' is probably a more appropriate comparison point for the last Gorillaz album, as the Song Machine album is kind of its own thing and pretty much more a compilation than a proper studio album. Though having said that 'The Now Now' only had about 1k higher opening sales so it's a fairly moot point. Not sure if that's more a case of 'The Now Now' underperforming or 'Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez' overperforming, maybe a bit of both. But in any case good to see 'Cracker Island' coming to comfortably outsell both, albeit still coming in quite far behind the last album before those ('Humanz' doing 44.5k first week in 2017).
