Up to the B List on Radio 1. I presume stuck at B next week and then a climb to A the following week with the albums release in sight.

3 for 3! This is a lot more subtle and less in your face than 'Overcome' and 'Welcome To the DCC', but it's more "interesting" in it's sound. Really liking it!

I’m loving all 3 of the songs released so far - ‘Keeping You Around’ is a bit different but still really really great. Can’t wait for the album next week!

Previews:

I will be waiting until Friday to listen!

How many copies do we think this will open up to?

Nothing But Thieves - 8,916 (#7)

Broken Machine - 12,026 (#2)

Moral Panic - 11,789 (#3)

I think a #1 peak is most likely and I'm going to say about 16k-18k (it would be very nice to see it over 20k though which I don't think is actually out of reach). It feels like their profile is a little bit bigger and if Covid wasn't such a factor for 2020 in general then I think they would have sold a tiny bit more with 'Moral Panic'.

First listen rate and thoughts:

10.0 Welcome To The DCC > Such a great opener! Perfect first single. <

11.0 Overcome > This is top 3 songs of the year for me. It's incredible. <

09.0 Tomorrow Is Closed > There's something very mid-00's indie about this mixed with Muse! Very good! <

08.0 Keeping You Around > Really liking this. It's my second listen since it premiered the other day and I think it will take some getting used to, but I do like it a lot. <

08.5 City Haunts > From the little that I do know of Muse, I think this is probably their most "Muse" sounding song to date. It's so good! <

08.0 Do You Love Me Yet? > Oh that switch up for the bridge... niiiice! I love how dramatic this is! I think it'll be a grower! <

07.5 Members Only > I didn't dislike this but it did wash over me ever so slightly, so maybe on another listen I'll appreciate it more! It was really enjoyable though! <

07.5 Green Eyes :: Siena > This is nice! Could be the ear worm off the album. So dreamy! <

07.0 Foreign Language > I like the chorus but the verses lose me a little. I like it though. The last half of the song is the best half. <

06.5 Talking To Myself > Oh this is the first truly filler on the album. It's fine and works in the context of the album purely as filler, but it's not one I'll listen to much outside of the album. <

09.5 Pop The Balloon > IMMEDIATE YES!!! THIS GRABS YOUR ATTENTION STRAIGHT AWAY. OH WOW. LOVE HOW ORIGINAL THIS IS! SHOOOOOOK! WHAT AN ENDING! <

The synths in this album *.* Such a good and strong album overall. Lots of these will probably grow, too. 'Pop The Balloon' is a MAJOR highlight for me!

After one listen I think it might be my favourite of theirs to date! Hope they get into a close chart battle so they reduce the price mid week and I can swipe a vinyl  (Serious though I might have to buy one anyway!)

Maisie managed to hit 20k sales, so I assume this could get very similar/more. However, Maisie was in a chart battle and discounted and pushed hard on her socials. Which may have boosted her up a bit more. As close to 20k as possible for this please!
‘Tomorrow Is Closed’ and ‘Pop The Balloon’ are indeed great. I’m really loving ‘Keeping You Around’ too, it’s more understated but very addictive at the same time.
I really hope they are holding strong to the number 1... they haven't resorted to discounting their bundles or anything so I'm hopeful that they're managing to stay ahead with a healthy enough lead!
