While it’s great Mae is charting so early, does this mean by Eurovision week she’ll be due for ACR? Which obviously won’t happen as it will have a huge boost on Eurovision week to revive it but clearly it will then be in decline so might have quite a short chart life post Eurovision compared to Sam, who started his run the week of the semis.

Chart released on 12 May would be Week 9 by my calculation, so if still charting by then she wouldn’t be on/drop to ACR for EuroVision (13 May).

Even Sam was denied at least one extra week in the top 40 because of his slightly early debut. Mae could definitely end up having her chart run cannibalised even more by this indeed. (Although given she's unlikely to do nearly as well in Eurovision as Sam did anyway, she may not have as much to lose)

Miley’s no one hit wonder or even generally a singles artist so it’s kinda surprising. I thought how well Flowers did to begin with was surprising so I kinda expected the album to overperform too but obviously that hasn’t happened.

Tbf I'd say she is mostly a singles artist, not that her albums have done terribly but she's never really had a proper blockbuster album. Only 4 of her albums have reached 10+ weeks in the chart (38 for 'Breakout' surprisingly still her longest charter, with 'Bangerz' getting 30 weeks, 'Plastic Hearts' 28 and 'The Time Of Our Lives' 11).

Perhaps not living up to the high expectations that "Flowers" had created, but she will get her second #1 album with her 2nd highest debut weeks sales which is really good. Especially when considering Younger Now was quite a big disappointment and she's built back up/been on an upward trajectory from that with her She Is Her EP, followed by Plastic Hearts and now Endless Summer Nights. I expect the album will do ~20-25k by the end of the week? Hopefully "River" will become a nice sized hit and they'll push a 3rd and perhaps even 4th single. Maybe a remix for one of them with a notable feature. Or perhaps even release a deluxe with a new single.

Really happy to see how well P!nk has been holding on in the album chart. Apple Music/Amazon have been helping it out quite a bit streaming-wise. Hopefully "Trustfall" will get another week top 20 at least!

^ that's now at least the second time you've called the album 'Endless Summer Nights' - it's 'Endless Summer Vacation' :kink:

Spaceman ended up doing relatively well due to the success at Eurovision and the resulting publicity. It remains to be seen how Mae does, although radio (especially Capital) already seem to be on board.

I think 'Tattoo' by Loreen may well end up being the biggest Eurovision hit.

I’m in the camp that Miley isn’t underperforming. Getting big album sales is hard to do and one monster single no longer guarantees big album sales, as mentioned see Unholy.

The key thing will be whether or not Endless Summer Vacation can hang around the top 20/40 for a while.

Actually doing 1st week album sales is not hard to do, many people do 20-25K, even bands hardly anyone has ever heard, you just need a good fanbase that buys 5 different colour vinyls each

Very good point. What does Miley have available?

3 - Black, Red & White variants.

Here's hoping, as 11 years is a long time since her last hit, i.e. my favourite song of this century.

She deserves to remove the one-hit wonder tag finally, even if it's via the Johnny Logan route of just doing well in Eurovision again.

Definitely wouldn't be surprised if Loreen ends up making the top 10 again assuming she wins Eurovision. Loreen potentially the new Daddy Yankee with 2 top 10 hits over a decade apart and no hits in between :cheeseblock:
Even if Loreen doesn’t win as expected I think ‘Tattoo’ will be a hit in the UK regardless - would be surprised if it wasn’t Top 20 at least (possibly dragged down from a Top 10 due to streaming?)
That's some very 2016 framing there :kink: I can't see sales being a particularly relevant factor either way but even if they are it'd be from sales dragging it up, not 'streaming dragging it down'. But yes I imagine it'll chart reasonably well either way but not sure it'd be a top 10 contender without winning.

Ha I nearly said something similar - if it does well on streaming it will be a hit and if it doesn’t it won’t.

Have we had a non Tik Tok related Eurovision Top 20 hit apart from Sam Ryder in recent years though?

I guess people are thinking that Euphoria massively over-performed for a non UK entry and Loreen might manage the same again.

(I haven’t heard the songs yet but instinctively I’d prefer Finland to win rather than Sweden again! :D )

The glam rock band from Italy did alright

do you guys really think Tattoo is as good as Euphoria? Heard it only twice but the hook didn't seem as good as the one in Euphoria
