Posted March 20, 20232 yr Why not! The tour has inspired me to do a countdown of every single of the 200+ Taylor Swift songs in her discography, from my least favourite to my favourite! Formatting and commentary will be basic otherwise I will never finish this as usual x Predict away! ❤️
March 20, 20232 yr Author Okay I have now ordered all 222 Taylor songs (which was painful in many ways) so this will be getting started soon!
March 20, 20232 yr Author Thanks guys <3 Innocence is winning. I guarantee it!! Damn you spoiled it :o
March 20, 20232 yr Author Just realised I forgot the non-streaming Midnights bonus tracks so this is now a top 225! (damn I liked the title being 222 ) Let's start with a bumper section of the bottom 25 now *.* After that it'll be sections of 10! (I LOVE my top 145, really like my top 180, then its a bit of a filler from like 183 downwards, and the bottom 29 are my completely inessential Taylor songs oops)
March 20, 20232 yr Author #225-#201 225. Innocent 224. Lover (ft. Shawn Mendes) 223. Silent Night 222. London Boy 221. Half Of My Heart (John Mayer ft. Taylor Swift) 220. Two Is Better Than One (Boys Like Girls ft. Taylor Swift) 219. Sad Beautiful Tragic 218. White Christmas 217. Highway Don't Care (Tim McGraw ft. Taylor Swift) 216. State of Grace (Acoustic Version) 215. Both Of Us (B.O.B ft. Taylor Swift) 214. Superstar 213. Come In With The Rain 212. Big Star (Kenny Chesney ft. Taylor Swift) 211. I Heart? 210. Mary's Song (Oh My My My) 209. Glitch 208. The Last Time (ft. Gary Lightbody) 207. I Wish You Would 206. I Forgot That You Existed 205. Tied Together With a Smile 204. The Other Side of the Door 203. Jump Then Fall 202. Closure 201. Death By a Thousand Cuts Every album bar folklore & reputation lose something here! No prizes for guessing last place correctly. The worst song of her career and an abomination. It's about Kanye West and I'm gonna pretend the spirit of West entered Taylor's body whilst making that song, which is why its so bad. Not much better is the pitiful Lover remix with Shawn Mendes, who makes me wish the titanic sunk this song. (Long long time til we see the wonderful original tho x). Actually her features with male artists take a prominent beating in this section, especially if they weren't on her albums. Her features with John Mayer (why?), Boys Like Girls (who?), Tim McGraw (cute but nope), B.O.B (the follow-up single was so much better than this dull one!!) and Kenny Chesney (just a fun live version but probs the song I forget is in her discography the most) all fallout here. So does her Red collab 'The Last Time', which is one of those songs that I always think I like a lot more until I listen to it and remember why I don't. One of the most frustrating songs in her discography for me cos I really like Snow Patrol and should love the way the song builds, but I can't pinpoint why it just doesn't work for me at all here. Most of the Christmas songs and acoustics (that made albums) will be gone pretty quickly. Here we lose our first acoustic with State of Grace, which strips the epic-stadium-rock production into bland nothingness to be by far her worst acoustic version. We also lose the worst two Xmas songs: her vocals have never been worse than on Silent Night (ig its fun for a laugh), and White Christmas isn't much better. The 2nd album song to drop is the most irritating song in her discography, London Boy, which somehow gets worse everytime I hear it. Lover loses a few songs here, the not as irritating but still irritating & her worst album opener 'I Forgot That You Existed', and a contender for the most overrated song in her discography (Death By a Thousand Cuts) also drop out here. Also exiting is 4/6 of the Fearless filler bonus tracks. Superstar & Come In With the Rain are the only two Taylor songs to make an album that I couldn't hum to you or tell you one lyric from. Utterly forgettable. The Other Side of the Door is bland and Jump Then Fall is irritating, so both also dropout here. Debut doesn't suffer too much here, with only its two most filler-y tracks leaving at this stage. I Heart? also falls here, its one that will probs improve if it gets a Taylor's version but I struggle to remember what it sounds like. Midnights, 1989 & evermore all lose one song apiece here. I Wish You Would has always really irritated me for some reason and is the only song on 1989 that I find pretty weak, will probs replace it in the tracklist with one of the new 1989 TV bonus tracks. I like it when Taylor takes risks with her style on albums, but Glitch & Closure are two that just don't work for me at all. Both slightly grating and I pretty much always skip them when they come on shuffle. Just a few more weaker songs to go before we get to the great stuff! (and just realised I forgot to write about Sad Beautiful Tragic, fitting! One of the most dull songs of her career and idk how this is starting to become a fan favourite??)
March 20, 20232 yr 'Death By A Thousand Cuts' is my favourite of those so I'm glad it's at least the best of the worst for you :kink:
March 21, 20232 yr Author Thanks for all the comments so far <3 Definitely the songs I expected people to be most gutted about leaving already are the ones that you guys are mentioning!
March 21, 20232 yr Author #200-#191 200. Run (ft. Ed Sheeran) 199. Birch (Big Red Machine ft. Taylor Swift) 198. You're On Your Own, Kid (Strings Version) 197. Sweet Nothing (Piano Version) 196. Christmases When You Were Mine 195. The Way I Loved You 194. Invisible 193. A Perfectly Good Heart 192. Dear Reader 191. False God I am not an Ed Sheeran fan, but I don't hate most of his Taylor collabs anywhere near as much as most of the Swifties do. However Run is beyond bland and one of the most forgettable songs in Tay's discography. Birch is also completely forgettable and the weaker of Taylor's Big Red Machine collabs. We've hit the listenable Xmas songs (and 7/10 songs) atp but Christmases When You Were Mine isn't an essential one. The two albums taking the biggest hits this time round are her first & most recent ones: Debut and Midnights. Midnights loses 2 bonus tracks and one 3am track here. YOYOK Strings + Sweet Nothing Piano are probs the songs on this countdown I've heard the least but from what I remember: the former didn't work and the latter sounds identical to the normal version so it was unnecessary. Dear Reader is nice but very filler-y (which is controversially my thoughts on quite a few of the 3am tracks which kind of feel like vault tracks to me, that's 2 out now & expect most of them to drop soon). Debut loses two songs which are fine but yep not career highlights in the slightest: I can never remember how Invisible sounds but I'm always pleasantly surprised when it comes on, and the chorus line of A Perfectly Good Heart is nice but that's all I can tell you about that one. We also lose two fan favourites here from Fearless and Lover. Post-Fearless TV release, The Way I Loved You might have just taken 1st place for the most overrated Taylor track. Its a bit grating and doesn't do much for me in either its normal or TV version, vastly overrated. False God is a nice and solid song but once again isn't anywhere near my favourite, the 'worship this love-eee' line delivery makes me cringe every time.
March 21, 20232 yr RESPECT 'FALSE GOD' YOU HEATHEN!!! OMG. Also, I skipped over 'The Last Time' but I'm not surprised ofc. You're wrong. But I'm not surprised.
