Posted April 27, 20232 yr It looks like its going to be a tight chart race this week, mainly between UK rapper Nines, singer Jessie Ware and US band The National. Will it be Nines' 2nd Uk no. 1 album or will it be Jessie's first? Jack Harlow, The National, Freya Ridings, The Lottery Winners & Labrinth could also pose threats. April 27, 20232 yr Jessie Ware, The National, Nabihah Iqbal, Susanne Sundfør and The Orb all with new albums this week  Lots to listen to tomorrow!
April 27, 20232 yr it'll be an easy #1 for Nines I'd expect although it would be great if Jessie Ware could upset, I've no idea how many formats and fans she's got these days
April 27, 20232 yr Freya not even in the mix? I'd have thought she'll be top 5. Way higher than Rexha at any rate.

April 27, 20232 yr Think it's between Nines and The National, can't see anyone else coming close to 20k, but I expect Nines will take it.
April 27, 20232 yr I'd say The National or Nines, but The Lottery Winners have more of a chance than most here lol.
April 27, 20232 yr I must be very out of touch because I wouldn’t have thought any of them could get a #1 lol
April 28, 20232 yr Author Artists' Last Album 1st Week Sales Stats: Nines Crabs In A Bucket (2020): 13,594 (#1) Jessie Ware What's Your Pleasure (2020): 7,667 (#3) The National I Am Easy To Find (2019): 12,752 (#2) Freya Ridings Freya Ridings (2019): 14,779 (#3) The Lottery Winners Something To Leave The House For (2021): 8,339 (#11) Jack Harlow Come Home The Kids Miss You (2022): 8,603 (#3)
April 28, 20232 yr The Lottery Winners have the most formats but as always it doesn’t mean much unless you have the fanbase willing and ready to snap all the variants up Formats Nines CD x 3 Cassette x 1 No vinyl it seems yet however they will be boosted by streaming Jessie Ware CD x 1 (Plus Amazon signed) Cassette x 1 Vinyl x 3 The National CD x 1 Cassette x 1 Vinyl x 3 The Lottery Winners CD x 5 Cassette x 5 Vinyl x 3 + Banquet personally signed copies Freya Ridings CD x 1 Cassette x 1 Vinyl x 2 (Plus Amazon signed) Jack Harlow Seems US only for physical and streaming/download for the UK
April 28, 20232 yr On top of all the above chart contenders, for me of interest, there's also: Now Yearbook 1978 Now Eurovision Eurovision Song Contest 2023 Ace Of Base – Beautiful Life: The Singles Boxset (£100 - gah) Bravo Hits 121 (I always buy these from Germany) I'll definitely get Freya and probably Nabihah, but interested by Jessie, Susanne and so many others of the above mentioned. Is the music industry out to bankrupt me this week?
April 28, 20232 yr The National had definitely 4 different vinyls, a friend has them all, white, black, red and green. I posted this on the album itunes thread, do you reckon the National album having Taylor, Sufjan and Phoebe as features will help increase sales? I haven't bought the last 2 albums by the National but pre-ordered this on day 1 cos of the features I have to admit. Wonder if the Swifties will buy it cos of the Taylor song, well, sure some will do. But maybe the features will also have a negative impact on some purist fans of the National, many were not happy with Taylor being in.
April 28, 20232 yr I went for The National, but I guess if it's close Nines will do a big social media push.
April 28, 20232 yr If Nabihah Iqbal doesn't make #1 it will be because her label didn't pay ManicKangaroo enough payola to get her put on his release schedule :(
April 28, 20232 yr Shame Jessie seems to have picked a week where she's not even in contention (Although having said that, the new album isn't even 1/10th as good as What's Your Pleasure so I guess I can live with it)
April 28, 20232 yr Current Positions iTunes #1 Freya Ridings #2 Jessie Ware #3 The National #6 Nines #10 The Lottery Winners Amazon Physical #6 The National (CD) #8 Jessie Ware (Amazon Signed) #30 The National (Vinyl) #67 Jessie Ware (Vinyl)
April 28, 20232 yr Nines is selling various bundles on his website which has produced pretty decent pure sales for other UK rap albums in recent years (possibly including his own last album?) He'll obviously be miles ahead of the rest of these on streaming too. I think he's definitely the favourite, but I wouldn't be entirely shocked if any of The National, Freya Ridings or The Lottery Winners take it either, definitely seems like an interestingly wide open week! I think Nines' last album was actually also released on a very competitive week (iirc it was only like #5 in the first mids? But then rose to #1 with its streaming advantage over the week, possible that could happen again this week). edit: it was #3 in an all new top 5
April 28, 20232 yr Author Shame Jessie seems to have picked a week where she's not even in contention (Although having said that, the new album isn't even 1/10th as good as What's Your Pleasure so I guess I can live with it) I do believe that she picked this week before Nines & Jack announced so I don't think it is really her fault, although her label should've had The National in mind.
