Speak Now by TS has rocketed into the top 10 on Apple Music (following the announcement) for what I imagine is the first time ever - #5 now (+83 from 24 hours ago), and above Midnights (#7).. Incredible!

Is that Ed's? I really wouldn't call it a flop either. Underperformamce sure. And it's only week 1, it might stabilise.

Ed's new songs aren't his usual streaming friendly sound, so I don't know why people are surprised. It's not like his fans have just deserted him less than 2 years since his last album.

 

If he wants to do another album full of chartworthy bops he'll back on top.

Hasn't he also released a music video for all standard tracks could that be making a difference
The Ed tracks are holding up well so far on Apple (all of them are still registering as climbing from 24 hours ago bar 'Eyes Closed' being a non-mover at #2). Interested to see how much they fall off on Spotify on day 2 (I still expect a fairly big dropoff but maybe not as big as Nines last week at least).

For Ed Sheeran’s standards it definitely is? I don’t know what’s so hard to understand about that, every artist has different expectations based on past performance. This is well, well, wellllll below his standards. Bionic went #1 but you’d be hard pressed to find anyone arguing that wasn’t a flop

Yep he's decreasing in popularity but that happens to literally every artist out there. I can't think of anyone who would have sustained the level of success he has enjoyed at his peak past this many albums. It's akin to Robbie Williams, Michael Jackson or Oasis - all HUGE acts but they could only sustain phenomenal sales for so long before they dropped off.

 

Despite him being successful with his last album, he was on the decline then from his untouchable days so I think it's logical that it's continuing now.

OK after a few listens think it's my favourite Ed album , curtains is obviously the next most radio friendly after eyes closed

Tbf it's only way you can listen to them till the taylors versions drop, I do a whole discography listen to.from time to.time but you can't do it without the non taylors version :lol:

I was expecting LosT to be straight out of the top 50 but glad it’s remained a bit stable. I hope it stays in the top 50 tomorrow
