'Got to Be Certain' was released 2 May 1988 as Kylie's second international single. It was originally written for label-mate Mandy Smith but her version was shelved and the song was given to Kylie. It was another #1 hit in Australia (Kylie's third in a row and the second song to ever debut at #1), a #2 hit in the UK and a Top 10 hit across Europe.

35 years on, what are your thoughts and memories of 'Got to Be Certain'?

Always a favourite  Although saying that out of the singles released this is probably my least favourite but there is something so nostalgic about early Kylie and the Kylie mania from the first eras.

It's one of those songs I enjoy when I hear it but I wouldn't really seek out. It's cheery fluffy pop, perfectly serviceable but not one I think of much more than that.
It was the perfect follow up to i should be so lucky, i love the live version of it aswell although its a song she performs nearly as much as some of the others.
Love it, listen to this waaaaay more than I do Locomotion and I should be so lucky. Then again a lot of the time I prefer the 2nd singles from most Kylie albums.
I love this, lucky and loco motion fairly equally3 excellent career starting singles for me.

I’m not keen on the locomotion but the other three singles from the first era were all great.

I like Got to be Certain.

It's better than Locomotion, but then most of her PWL singles then topped it (if we forget If You Were With Me Now and, probably, Never Too Late).

I think it probably gets overlooked quite a fair bit..? But I might be wrong there.

Je ne sas pais pourquai i like but clearly way behind the other singles from the album.

I did enjoy the performance on the Anti Tour, I think a lot of Kylie's PWL stuff sounds better in a live setting.

I think it's mostly because Kylie usually ignores it on her tours and such. I wonder if that's partly because it wasn't written especially for her.

An absolute 10/10 pop TRIUMPH *.*

It's no Turn It Into Love (WHAT IS?) but easily one of her best from the first few albums.
