June 2, 20233 yr Radio 2 aside, is anywhere actually playing Tattoo? I haven't heard it anywhere or seen it on TV (I know there's no official video as such which doesn't help). Imagine how big it could be with more support... Nevertheless, three weeks in the top 10 for the Eurovision winner is pretty unprecedented. Its success is making Euphoria looks like a passing fad :o MTV are playing the live acoustic version
June 2, 20233 yr Definitely, I think as much as the song itself that people enjoy, it's also the icon/surprise factor of Kylie getting a streaming hit as late as 2023 that's actually climbing the charts. The Padam Padam hook is also super infectious. Also I feel like slap house is a big genre on the internet but we don't get many songs of this style charting (we haven't yet, at least), so it probably sounds pretty fresh as a genre to people that only follow the mainstream. Infectious is exactly what I've called it in my commentary this week.
June 2, 20233 yr Anyone know the chart run for Euphoria? Did that even manage two weeks top 10? 85-3-13-20-30-41-42-60-81-64-75-59-77-79-92-x-75
June 2, 20233 yr Author 08 | 07 | 10th week Ed Sheeran Eyes Closed 1st single from - Released: 24th March 2023 Label: Asylum Records UK Chart Statistics NE (06/04/2023) | 1-3-3-5-6-6-3-4-7-8 Sales: 200k+ Certification: Silver Status: Standard Chart Ratio 01 Sales 03 Audio Streaming 06 Video Streaming Video u6wOyMUs74I Biography There’s a lovely moment a little ways into Apple Music’s Songwriter documentary about Ed Sheeran in which Sheeran, jet-lagged and carrying a cup of tea, straggles out into a yard in Malibu at dawn, sits down at his laptop and begins writing a song about the moment right in front of him: the crisp air, the birdsong, the hot tea, the day ahead. He gets a full verse in, melody and all, then pauses. “Songs are weird things,” he says. “How so?” an interviewer asks. “They just come and go,” Sheeran says, smiling. “And they never give you any warning.” For Sheeran, they seem to come pretty reliably. Born in 1991 in Halifax, England, he started out gigging on the UK pub circuit before releasing his first studio album, +, in 2011, and has since become one of the most unstoppable singer-songwriters in music, forging a light blend of folk, pop, hip-hop and dance that feels slick but lived-in, intimate but universal. Whether on his own (“Sing”, “The A Team”, “Shape of You”, “Perfect”) or in collaboration with artists from Taylor Swift to Eminem to Justin Bieber, Sheeran has a unique ability to strike a chord that feels both bittersweet and redemptive, good-natured and genuine: the hopeless romantic who convinces you he might just be right. In 2017, he was made a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, touching Prince Charles on the arm while shaking his hand—a breach of royal protocol, and an appealingly human one at that. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2011 03 The A Team -1- MILLION SELLER 2011 35 Hush Little Baby (Wretch 32 feat. June 2, 20233 yr What was the chant? I didn't watch Big Weekend so I don't know. Edited June 2, 20233 yr by IdentFan101
Its success is making Euphoria looks like a passing fad :o Remains to be seen whether it'll be as big and iconic as 'Euphoria' is 11 years down the line though!
June 2, 20233 yr Author Either Ed is actually #8 and Jack can't count, or Lewis Capaldi was #8 and they just skipped him
June 2, 20233 yr 'Flexing like a Vegas acrobat' lol 'Karma' still sounds awful, the addition of a copy and paste Ice Spice verse doesn't make it any worse but it doesn't make it any better either (I did laugh at the 'facts' ad lib actually so maybe that made it like 1% better tbf x). Thank god it's missed the top 10 and hopefully won't go any higher. Only heard the Rudimental track once still and thought it was just decent, surprised that got skipped rising up to #11 when it is on the R1 A-List but wasn't desperate to hear it again so whatever. Yay at Guetta being skipped too x 'Tattoo' has finally started really growing on me now, not sure why after it was sticking firmly at being mid the first ~5 times I heard it (including at Eurovision itself) but I'm glad it is clicking now so I can feel a bit less contrarian  nice to see another Eurovision track being a lasting hit, not hurting that Hot Hits UK have jumped well on board with it. Shame that 'Cha Cha Cha' has fallen off quicker this week after having a strong second week but it was always going to be a massive uphill struggle for a Finnish language rap-hyperpop-industrial blend to get any significant playlist support, it's not doing too bad to still be top 100 on Spotify at least. 'Cupid' sounding moderately better for me today than it has on previous listens but still not a fave.
June 2, 20233 yr Author 07 | 03 | 7th week Lewis Capaldi Wish You The Best 3rd single from Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent Released: 14th April 2023 Label: Vertigo Berlin Chart Statistics NE (27/04/2023) | 1-3-4-6-5-3-7 Sales: 200k+ Certification: Silver Status: Standard Chart Ratio 01 Sales 05 Audio Streaming 01 Video Streaming Video QZLxVvLyKTo Biography “I never really think, ‘OK, I’m going to write a song,’” Lewis Capaldi told Apple Music. “My creative process is basically: I sit down with a guitar and or at the piano, and I just start to write.” But the amazing thing about Capaldi is that he’s become one of the most popular young artists of his generation by preserving his songs in that raw, unvarnished state, to provide the purest representation of the pain and longing coursing through his lyrics. Amid the hyper-paced, totally wired world of late-2010s pop, this unassuming Scottish singer-songwriter and former Up Next artist—born 1996 in Glasgow—stopped the internet dead in its tracks with his DIY 2017 single “Bruises”, a stark, piano-based breakup ballad that introduced a voice imbued with the sort of soulful grit and deeply felt heartache you wouldn’t expect from a baby-faced 21-year-old. “Bruises” was Capaldi’s ticket to international major-label deals and tours opening for pop A-listers like Sam Smith and Niall Horan, but he would swiftly join their ranks with his equally rustic 2018 single “Someone You Loved”, another tear-jerking expression of sorrow—inspired by the death of his grandmother—that went to No. 1 in the US and UK, and has since become one of the most-streamed songs of all time. Those singles formed the foundation of Capaldi’s chart-topping full-length debut, 2019’s Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, which fleshes out his sound with lush orchestration and gospel gravitas but, through songs like the suicide-themed “Before You Go”, retains his fearless flair for dredging up the messiest of emotions. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2018 09 Grace -2- MILLIONAIRE 2018 01 Someone You Loved -3- MILLIONAIRE 2019 06 Bruises -1/5- MILLIONAIRE 2019 04 Hold Me While You Wait -4- MILLIONAIRE 2019 01 Before You Go -6- MILLIONAIRE 2022 01 Forget Me -1- 2022 01 Pointless -2- 2023 24 How I'm Feeling Now -PS- 2023 01 Wish You The Best -3- 2023 28 Haven't You Ever Been In Love Before? -AT- 5 x #1 | 6 x Top 5 | 8 x Top 10 | 8 x Top 20 | 10 x Top 40 | 10 x Top 100 Social Media Lewis Capaldi http://i.imgur.com/1SERq1f.png
