June 2, 20233 yr It was written last year so it's NOT a "Future Nostalgia reject" I think he's inferring it sounds like one, rather than it is actually one.

June 2, 20233 yr Author 16 | 12 | 7th week Post Malone Chemical 1st single from AUSTIN Released: 14th April 2023 Label: Mercury Records / Republic Records Chart Statistics NE (27/04/2023) | 11-13-14-14-13-12-16 Sales: 100k+ Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 16 Sales 18 Audio Streaming 45 Video Streaming Video IzPQ_jA00bk Biography When Austin Post uploaded “White Iverson” to social media in early 2015, he was 19, scrounging for ramen and sleeping in a friend’s closet. Plenty has changed, but Post’s appeal is more or less the same. No matter how Platinum the records go, he still has the air of an ordinary guy, a Crocs-and-Bud Light kid from the suburbs who stumbled backward into fame just by strumming what was in his heart. Post didn’t just look beyond genre, he broke it down, mixing the dark grandeur of trap with the anthemic release of classic rock and country. His signature tracks—“rockstar”, “Sunflower”, “Congratulations”—were both bleak and beautiful, spaced-out and mainstream, hip-hop but not quite. The bass boomed, the melodies soared, and there was Post in the middle, rap-singing his woes like a lonely prince self-exiled in the castle. At live shows, there were no dancers, no pyrotechnics, just Post, in a baggy football jersey with a cigarette in his hand, bringing 60,000 people into his bedroom: The pop star as moody teen. Born in 1995 in Syracuse, New York, and raised in the suburbs of Dallas, Post grew up on a mix of country, classic rock and rap: In one well-circulated anecdote, young Post would get called into the living room to entertain Dad and friends with the dance to Terror Squad’s “Lean Back”. He turned a love for the video game Guitar Hero into a love of actual guitar, playing in a metal band during high school while also starting to explore hip-hop. “White Iverson” led to Post’s 2016 debut, Stoney; beerbongs & bentleys burrowed further into Post’s luxurious, messy melancholy, while 2019’s Hollywood’s Bleeding found him buttoning up and moving closer to the conventions of mainstream pop, all while retaining his peculiar touch. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2016 50 Fade (Kanye West feat. June 2, 20233 yr Author RAGING that 'Hits Different' has been skipped. I get that he can't play 3 songs by the same artist, but 'Late Night Talking' and 'Snow On The Beach' respectively should've been skipped instead. Pah. They can play 3 songs by the same artist, they've done it before so no reason not to with Taylor at least this week surely!
June 2, 20233 yr Author 15 | | 1st week J Hus It's Crazy 1st single from Don't Say Militancy Released: 26th May 2023 Label: Black Butter Chart Statistics NE (08/06/2023) | 15 Sales: - Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 00 Sales 00 Audio Streaming 00 Video Streaming Video xnKbJwGjXAQ Biography J Hus, a Londoner of Gambian heritage, made a major impact on the 2010s U.K. rap scene with his distinctive blend of dancehall, grime, Auto-Tune-laced R&B, and Afro-beats, often dubbed Afroswing. After establishing himself in 2015 with a series of freestyles and early singles, such as the heavily streamed "Lean & Bop," he broke through with his 2017 debut full-length, Common Sense, which hit the U.K. Top Ten and earned a shower of critical acclaim, garnering a Mercury Prize nomination, among other accolades. His 2020 follow-up, Big Conspiracy, was an even greater success, topping the U.K. album chart and featuring the Top Five single "Must Be." Momodou Jallow was born and raised in Stratford, London by his single mother. Influenced by 50 Cent, he began rapping, and went professional thanks to the help of two friends, who formed 2K Management. In 2015, they recorded a handful of demos and uploaded them to the Web, cut the single "So Paranoid" with London rapper MoStack, and uploaded a set of videos, including "Dem Boy Paigon." The latter was an instant street hit and quickly earned over a million views. J Hus then dropped his debut mixtape, The 15th Day, as well as the non-album single "Lean & Bop" (his first release on Sony imprint Black Butter Records), which was streamed several million times. J Hus began 2016 with the single "Friendly," and the three-song Playing Sports EP soon followed. The burgeoning star had a busy year in 2017, as he featured on the Nines track "High Roller" and Dave's hit "Samantha," as well as Stormzy's "Bad Boys" from his hugely successful Gang Signs & Prayer record. In May 2017, Hus released his debut LP, Common Sense, which featured guest spots from MoStack, Burna Boy, Tiggs Da Author, and MIST. The album was recognized with a Mercury Prize nomination that same year; in 2018, it won Best Album at the NME Awards, and garnered the rapper three Brit Award nominations. J Hus followed his breakthrough success with the 2018 EP Big Spang. Later that year, he was arrested for carrying a six-inch knife in public and was incarcerated for eight months. The day of his release in April 2019, he made a surprise appearance on-stage at a Drake show. Making up for lost time, J Hus quickly got to work, and by year's end had begun issuing singles from his next album. Released in early 2020, Big Conspiracy featured guest spots from Burna Boy, Koffee, and newcomer iceè tgm. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2017 63 Samantha (Dave & J Hus) 2017 22 Bad Boys (Stormzy feat. June 2, 20233 yr glad this missed the top 10 after being predicted to debut at #6 earlier this week. its so bad
June 2, 20233 yr My point was more that it sounds like one How does it sound like a Future Nostalgia reject? That's such a lazy comparison to make imo, just because it's disco??
June 2, 20233 yr I was thinking that was just the normal 'Snow On The Beach' despite the website saying it was the new one - was gonna say if not then they really oversold how much 'more' Lana there was  Glad that Kylie did actually get a play after all! (And them skipping George Ezra, they suddenly chose good song decisions :cheeseblock:) Having said that, 'Padam Padam' is really nothing mindblowing on first listen, it's not bad but just sounds like a pretty run of the mill slap house song (can maybe see the hook being an earworm tbf so it has a little more to it than some others from the genre), I don't think there would be nearly as much excitement over it if not for being a Kylie hit. 'Say Something' deserved this success but it's good to see her getting a genuine hit this far into her career whatever it sounds like. Agree 100%, amazing to see her doing so well but All the Lovers or Can't Get You Out of My Head it's not.
June 2, 20233 yr The Dua song is solid - not her best but I wouldn't have expected her to go all guns blazing for a throwaway Barbie film soundtrack song tbf. Just glad it wasn't a 'Swan Song' / 'We're Good' level dud. Still very much excited for her next proper lead single / album! Lol another new entry being skipped in favour of a song that's been charting for months... although technically 'Flowers' is a newer song than 'Hits Different' of all the songs I hadn't heard yet for them to skip that's certainly not one I'd have predicted... (and good that 'CUFF IT' got skipped for 'AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM' at least, would not have put it past them to do the opposite for that too)
June 2, 20233 yr Author How does it sound like a Future Nostalgia reject? That's such a lazy comparison to make imo, just because it's disco?? In my opinion it has the same sort of sound as the Future Nostalgia album but doesn't do it as well, it's not really a lazy comparison when you've acknowledged yourself they're both disco-influenced. I don't even dislike the song...!
June 2, 20233 yr Author 14 | 16 | 3rd week Lil Durk featuring J. Cole All My Life 1st single from Almost Healed Released: 12th May 2023 Label: Alamo Records Chart Statistics NE (25/05/2023) | 17-16-14 Sales: 30k+ Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 99 Sales 27 Audio Streaming 08 Video Streaming Video Z4N8lzKNfy4 Biography Back in the early 2010s, Durk Banks was just another rapper making his way in Chicago drill, a bleak, diamond-hard variant on trap that channeled the city’s culture of violence into unlikely anthems. Drill—and the label frenzy that surrounded it—faded, but Durk evolved, becoming one of the rare rappers able to make the leap from regional fame to the mainstream without diluting his street appeal. Painful, raw, but eerily pretty, Durk’s music can turn death threats into nursery rhymes (“Die Slow”) and coax shades of suffering from Auto-Tune that make even the slickest productions breathe with vulnerability (“Turn Myself In”). He doesn’t sugarcoat it. But you get the sense he isn’t putting on too much of a show, either. Born in Chicago in 1992, Durk started rapping in his teens, building local popularity through mixtapes before landing on Def Jam in 2012. His debut album, Remember My Name, came out in 2015, followed by Lil Durk 2X. Though he forged his reputation on drill, Durk proved unexpectedly versatile, a rapper who could slip between dead-eyed rawness and Auto-Tuned melodicism, and handle a love song (“India,” “My Beyoncé”) without making it sound like it was a mandate from the label. He left Def Jam in 2018, asserting his independence on a spate of mixtapes before joining Geffen Records with 2020’s Just Cause Y’all Waited 2. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Lil Durk 2020 04 Laugh Now Cry Later (Drake feat.
