Tuned in now and I am already peeved at them deciding to play 'Late Night Talking' and not 'Satellite' ffs. (I'd have missed 'Satellite' anyway, but still... great that 'Satellite' has a top 40 peak to its name now anyway, easily one of his best songs and even better with the music video <3)

I guess 'The Best' will still be to come unless they decided to only get 'What's Love Got To Do With It' reset for some reason? Further proof of us really being in open season with manual resets in the post Kate Bush era, but not going to complain this time, the Tina song(s) will definitely be gone next week anyway so it's nice to see her not being denied a top 40 appearance by the rules.

edit: and now playing 'Heat Waves'. I hate it here. At least 'Waffle House' is a bit of a bop.

I missed 'Side Effects' too ofc which I haven't heard yet, but I'm happy to wait a bit longer for that one x

Biography

Florence + The Machine’s grand art-pop cuts straight to the essence of raw emotion—no matter how bruised and bloody the result. The London band's 2009 debut album, Lungs, came stacked with rousing anthems like “Kiss with a Fist” and “Dog Days Are Over,” all propelled by pounding rhythms and orchestral strings and fuelled by a desire—or rather a need—for catharsis. “With songwriting, I really like to embody the things I was afraid of as a child. I like to kind of embody that voice,” singer-songwriter Florence Welch explained to Apple Music. “It’s like an exorcism almost.” That passion for delving into the darker outskirts of the mind infuses everything the band does, including bringing their cinematic sound to the screen with the 2016 release of short film The Odyssey, whose Dante-inspired scenes are strung together with heartache-drenched songs from 2015’s How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful. That braveness also dictates not only Welch’s lyrics—which hit on topics as taboo as suicide and self-destruction (“The End of Love”) and as profound as simply letting go (the Grammy-nominated “Shake It Out”)—but also the way she delivers them, with the bewitching wail of a siren unleashed. - Spotify

ancient music like Heat Waves and Late Night Talking getting played over a new entry is one of the reasons I don't listen to the chart anymore (ignoring that Satellite is just as old as LNT in actuality lol)

didn't expect Tina would get reset but that's nice to see

boo at Florence having missed her shot to make top 20 now

people being on acr whilst calm down, ggg and aiw are not feels so wrong (i mean if aiw got reset now sfter the tour i wouldnt mind, my issue is that its been clogging up there since the brits in feb)

Biography

Though she’s got the name and look of a ’60s-era Hollywood star, Lana Del Rey could only have emerged in the internet era. At a time when social media was giving people the power to curate their identities and present idealised versions of themselves online, the struggling singer-songwriter once known as Lizzy Grant (born in New York in 1985) reinvented herself as Lana Del Rey for her epochal 2011 single “Video Games”. The wistful orchestral ballad (and an accompanying Super 8-style video that heralded the ubiquity of soft-focus Instagram filters) introduced a femme fatale who delighted in breaking hearts and the internet alike, knowingly using coquettish sex-kitten cliches as a means to probe male behaviour and, by extension, the American id itself. Not only did the song prove it was possible to cultivate genuine mystique in the age of oversharing, but it also carved out a space for languid, Twin Peaks-worthy art-pop amid a Top 40 normally reserved for jacked-up pop anthems. Since then, Lana has always kept listeners guessing: Informed equally by classic-rock mythology and modern hip-hop attitude, she can casually name-drop Lou Reed in a dream-pop serenade (2014’s “Brooklyn Baby”) as effortlessly she communes with R&B futurist The Weeknd (2017’s “Lust for Life”). More than a mere retro stylist, Lana embraces nostalgic all-American imagery only to corrupt it through subversive—sometimes profane—anti-love songs, while elevating pop-cultural detritus into high art: On 2019’s Norman F*****g Rockwell!—an epic masterwork that scales the heights of Elton John’s early-'70s classics—she makes room for a cover of Sublime’s ’90s stoner-funk anthem “Doin’ Time”, giving it a sultry trip-hop makeover that affirms the mystery of Lana Del Rey continues to be written. - Apple Music

So Dog Days Are Over finally matched its US peak. It was always hard to believe it charted higher in the US than the UK!

And the one old song I actually do want to hear gets skipped, great xx Shame both 'See You Again' and 'Dog Days Are Over' stalled at #21 recently.

'People' still sounds really nice anyway.

yay at lana getting another play! and the drop is smaller than i expected too! thought she'd be lower down the 30s! 2x lana in the top 40 is awesome for her <3 hope they also play sotb

9-27 is a very aesthetically pleasing fall for Lana

would be perfect if she fell to #81 next week (although the song doesn't deserve quite a hefty drop)
