I was just looking at my DNQ list and thinking how many of my all-time favourite songs completely failed to connect here, so figured it might be a good opportunity to rank our DNQs to show which we still love/feel were underrated, and which even we can see were missteps. If you can't be bothered to rank them all, it might be interesting just to hear about general opinions on your favourite DNQs that deserve another airing, or the songs you look back on and wonder why you sent them.

Some of my all-time favourite songs

1.

(BJSC 67) (an acquired taste I'm sure, but this Sheppard track got me from the first listen and never let go - in ways I can't really even explain why. It's in my top 15 songs of all-time)

2.

(BJSC 57) (an absolutely glorious, emotive piano house track with a lovely summery video and gorgeous vocals by Pamela Myburgh of The Arrows, whose music I came to adore - I ranted enough about it at the time but there's no WAY this deserved to DNQ)

3.

(BJSC 106) (my 2018 summer holiday anthem, I really see no reason why this pop anthem did so badly, the carnival middle eight breakdown is so good, but I might be blinded for my own love for it)

4.

(BJSC 129) (a beautiful song that was my No.1 track of 2020, and was the song I listened to more than any during the pandemic - it's a grower that takes time though so hardly a surprising DNQ)

5.

(BJSC 91) (old granny anthem - at least this got some redemption when it finished top three in Rejects, it's such an incredibly charming song I half expected this to be a top 10 in all honesty)

6.

(BJSC 10) (the legendary first DNQ, I still listen to this so much)

Amazing

7. Safari - I Need You (BJSC 66) (Christian gospel was never going to go well, but this is a gorgeous and uplifting song)

8. Paul Seul - BDF (Summer 21 Happy Mix) (BJSC 142) (this is still an epic banger, but I admit Paul Seul had a more accessible song in the same contest, whoops)

9. Yusuf Can Kurt & Emircan Hattat feat La Dee Eda - Dream (BJSC 108) (a hypnotic Eastern flavour to this, it sounded like a hit, very much not like a DNQ)

10. Black Motion feat Nokwazi - Imali (BJSC 92) (also falling to the Afro House curse, but this is a wonderful song)

11. Hello Saferide - Anna (BJSC 133) (lovely Swedish indie, with a very affecting story, but 15 years too late to the contest maybe)

Great

12. Vincent - Miss Blue (BJSC 12) (my second DNQ, but I do still really love this, and Vincent (Agnes' other half) is now a major songwriter as one half of Vargas & Lagola - Salem Al Fakir, another Rontvian entrant, is the other member of the duo)

13. Dacia - Muistot (BJSC 98)

14. Tautumeitas - Sadziedami (BJSC 109)

15. Ryan Hemsworth feat Tomggg - Cream Soda (BJSC 78)

16. Friends feat Jean-Pierre Barda – Pacmahara (BJSC 114) (15 points in the semi - a huge flop but I still have a soft spot for it, it's early Alcazar style cheese)

17. Halleluwah - Dior (BJSC 73)

Good

18. Wolfgang Wee - In My Arms (BJSC 119)

19. Mason - Alive (BJSC 128) (The string intro I still love but the rest of the song doesn't really live up to that and I can see why it was a DNQ)

20. Kadebostany - Castle In The Snow (BJSC 72)

21. Shaun Baker - Frontline (BJSC 148) (I got addicted to this for a few days last year during the confirmation period and got carried away, bad idea and I haven't really gone back to it since)

22. Mark Lower - Bad Boys Cry (BJSC 56) (pretty basic house really)

23. Sanne Salomonsen - Du & Jeg (BJSC 55) (the song that ended the Q streak of 42 - I have no idea why I sent this, although it's nice enough Danish filler)

Ok

24. Paper Route - You And I (BJSC 76) (I have no idea why I sent this, I don't really ever listen to it or even care about it)

All-time favourite

1. LANKS, Yorke - KING [bJSC 132]

This song is my most favourite of 2020 and it got an extremely undesirable place that it broke me back in the day. :( LANKS then released another big ballad The Silence which is also amongst my favourite in 2021.

2. YONAKA - Seize The Power [bJSC 133]

The tastelessness in this DNQ <_< Fortunately it did better in the TBO but I'm still not over this DNQing when it's empowering af.

3. Ivana Wong, Serrini - 誅神的黃昏 [bJSC 155]

This sadly broke me a lot. :( It certainly did not deserve last and it was one of my most favourite songs in 2022. The drama and also that it's one of the best songs in the HK industry convinced me it'd pick up a few votes but alas.

4. Madison Rose - ICONIC [bJSC 146]

Again another DNQ that I'm not over with. It was so empowering and sassy, and it DNQ?? Hello???

5. FLAMINIA ft. Yosh Whale - capo/volto [bJSC 149]

I used to love this way more back then. The drop in the latter half is a huge moment. It somehow grew off me a bit and I'm coming to terms with this NQing. It's still a banger though and a song I come back often.

Great

6. Metropole Orkest - Beirut [bJSC 131]

It was a neatly composed piece for a string ensemble. There were innovative ways of playing which really added to the atmosphere of the piece. It was also a time when the warehouse explosion happened so it added another layer of meaning to the piece. I did expect this to struggle though, since it was quite experimental. Nonetheless, it was unique and I certainly did not regret sending this.

7. Eva McBel ft. St. Woods - Two Truths and a Lie [bJSC 129]

This song introduced me to Eva McBel, which is now among my most favourite indie artists of all time. Two Truths and a Lie is an emotional yet powerful song, especially the latter half which things build up and reach a climax. I was sure this was going to pick up a few votes but alas. :(

8. Emelie Hollow - I Don't Believe It [bJSC 153]

This song is the best song from Emelie Hollow for me. She excels in ballads and I think this song demonstrates her strength well. It builds up gradually and the final chorus is a huge moment. Upon sending this, I still thought of how this could end up like Two Truths and a Lie but I was totally convinced that Emelie Hollow was a much more popular name than Eva McBel especially in Scandipop. It was borderline sadly. :(

9. Diandra - Koti [bJSC 127]

Another dramatic and beautiful ballad, Koti had me convinced that the somewhat traditional instrumentation is going to stand out with its ethereal feel. I was certain this is going to be a good follow-up to my first ever qualification with Loose Change. Sadly it wasn't even close. :(

Good

10. BATHSHEBA - Fighting for Your Love [bJSC 137]

I was deciding between Fighting for Your Love and Hit 'N' Run, and ultimately I went for Fighting for Your Love because it had an important message and the chorus banged a lot. I was wrong in thinking this would do well with the pop bloc oops. :kink: Looking back, I'd have chosen Hit 'N' Run given how well this did in other contests. Oh well...

11. chloe moriondo - bugbear [bJSC 126]

This remains by far my most favourite chloe moriondo's song. I love the music video as well. It has a deep meaning and it speaks to me on a personal level on the struggles of impostor syndrome and the feeling that you've tried very hard but still do not great enough.

12. Tiptoe Giants - Sneeze, Cough, Hand Wash (The Hygiene Song) [bJSC 125]

This is ICONIC and I stand by this.

Aged

13. Noga Erez - YOU SO DONE [bJSC 128]

It's quite a quirky song and the synths in the instrumental drop are a moment. I just don't come back to this much now.

14. Andreas Moss - Real Love [bJSC 134]

This is quite a decent queer bop but after I started following the NMF Pride playlist, there have been a lot better songs and this kinda flew under the radar.

15. Giolì & Assia - Bebe [bJSC 138]

It was quite cool back then and the synths are amazing. I'll Be Fine is an even better song from them and this sadly grew off me after listening to this many times to convince myself it was worth trying.

16. RHYME SO - Fashion Blogger [bJSC 124]

It was an iconic debut song but it is quite a repetitive one. I was going into the contest with the mindset of bringing novelty acts but the thought of doing well eventually overrode me and I ditched this theme when I send Koti.

1. Dennis Sheperd Ft Sarah Lynn - Dive (this and Keys&Cages are pretty near equal for me but I feel more fond of this overall listening to it recently.)

2. KEYS&CAGES - Invisible

3. Maggie Lindemann - Knocking On Your Heart

4. VNV Nation - Illusion

5. Elliot Lee - Pink (Freak)

6. Halestorm - Apocalyptic

7. Prince Rama - Fantasy

8. Anne Clark - Our Darkness

9. Dark Sarah - Dance With The Dragon

10. Dorothy - Dark Nights

11. Beverley - I Want Your Love

12. MISSIO - I See You

13. Hartebees Ft Zaleena Zanders - Justified (Sunrise Funk)

14. Amy Peters - Salt

15. Boston Bun - Paris Groove

16. ± CΔT - Moon Spells ±

17. Graaf - Give It Up

18. Generik - Late At Night

My top 11 or so are fantastic to great for me. 'Dive' the first example of a trance curse even back in 2016 oops. I have even more appreciation for it now though looking back but I still loved it back then so was a shame it didn't make it. 'Invisible' I legit thought was going to do Q fine as it had that Taahino sound to it with the pop rock and what not.

Maggie has the distinct honour of being my first NQ. I guess it wasn't going to wow people but it was an intense super pop ballad for me :(

VNV Nation first time round coming 21st in the NQ's was very gutting as again it was another intense and deep song and would have made for a nice addition to the final but they did get revenge by almost winning 4 years later of course and I really did enjoy 'Pink' (Freak)' as well and thought it would have qualified as a solid pop track but naur.

Missio was my last NQ in May 2021 and whilst I don’t rank it super high it was a relatable song for mental health struggles at the time!

Some of my videos (and a couple of non video ones as well x)

and.. the full video for Beverley because when I sent it, it was only half the length as I couldn't find it in full length at the time..

Nice idea, fun to look back.

BJSC 85: Monoir & Osaka (feat. Brianna) - The Violin Song - took until my 7th contest to DNQ and was pushing my luck by this point with this sound, only narrowly lost out though!

BJSC 91: Will Sparks - Flamenco - no way deserved to DNQ, huge standout of the semi

BJSC 95: Grace Mitchell - Now - this was seen as a big shock at the time but it was semi of many surprises. got redemption by finishing second in rejects

BJSC 98: DJ Yakir Ganon - Jamila - was gutted this one didn't make it as this sort of sound was tending to do quite well around then

BJSC 101: Tom Budin & Luciana - X With U - maybe the most surprising one as this trashy dance was normally a shoo in, I rarely revisit it tbf though

BJSC 104: Amber Mark (feat. Mia Mark) - Monsoon - this was when I went rogue and submitted a ballad but predictably it flopped as it's quite rubbish really...

BJSC 107: Sabyan (feat. Annisa & El-Alice) - Ya Jamalu - and this was when I went even roguer an submitted the most random thing pretty much for the lols

BJSC 108: ManyFew (feat. Twiggy) - Where To Go - first ever back to back DNQ but this was a disappointing one as this is an uplifting banger

BJSC 118: Fabrizio Parisi & MiYan (feat. Belonoga) - Sunbeams - most frustrating DNQ as I was on a run of 9 qualifiers in a row and my original choice for this contest still remains my only ever veto to date. so the writing was pretty much on the wall after that happened...

BJSC 122: Felix Snow - Born To Love Buffalo - neat little track I had on my potentials for a while but probably a bit too subtle to do well here

BJSC 123: Money Aujla (feat. Nesdi Jones & Yo Yo Honey Singh) - London - some random fusion I'd known for years and was more of a curiosity entry, ended up only getting votes from 3 countries

BJSC 129: Utah Jazz - Take No More - very 50/50 whether this would qualify as it had that "sound" but was quite subtle, no huge dramas

BJSC 130: Latto - No Panties - rogue dobago strikes again, it was the last contest of the year, I had no rank to protect or anything so just send something fun and trashy

BJSC 134: Kodomo - Holographic - second most frustrating DNQ as I was off to my best ever start this year with 3 straight top 20 finishes and all were instrumental so I tried too hard to keep the run going and overthought it. Looking back I perhaps should have sent another song by Kodomo which I won't reveal

BJSC 135: Elder Island - I Fold You - overthought it again, I was originally gonna send a remix of this (by a band I'd later send to Club Bizarre) but the calmness and slow build up brainwashed me into thinking the original could also do quite well, it didn't

BJSC 136: Matt Bukovski - Gold Walls - this was my most listened to song of the year but certainly a genre that gets me going far more than the "typical" person, this result also fed into the omg trance is dead narrative at the time

BJSC 138: b.i.g.s.h.r.i.m.p (feat. Haley) - In Private - a very close DNQ this one but glad I sent it as it still hits the spot

BJSC 141: Un-Cut - Midnight - first ever time sending something that had been a UK top 40 hit but I needn't have bothered, no love at all for this one for some reason

BJSC 145: Louisahhh - Hey Trouble - overthought it again! Should have sent Harder Now by her instead looking back, not too bothered by this DNQ as I was on holiday for almost the entire contest so didn't feel engaged anyway...

BJSC 148: AccessJak (feat. Nikisha Reyes) - Never Let You Down - this should have qualified really as commercial drum & bass was getting popular again

BJSC 150: Tsuki - Over - didn't really expect this one to qualify but it's one of the most out and out bangers I've ever sent, at least Land of DW were on board!

BJSC 152: LIZZY (feat. SHIMICA) - Tonight - honestly shocked at how badly this performed, thought it was a nailed on qualifier when I sent it, it was one I came across when scouring for entries for the tri-continental Club Bizarre edition

BJSC 153: Shona Laing - America - another I thought would get enough support to qualify but actually became my first and so far only ever last placer, something I found when looking for Retro Song Contest entries last time out

Edited by Dobbo.

Outstanding: [Quite close between my top 2 which are probably top 10 of all my entries, truly baffling DNQs when they are melodic house perfection!!]

1. Adriatique & Marino Canal - Home (feat. Delhia De France) [#130]

2. Embrz - Where You Are (feat. Lizzy Land) [#137]

Amazing:

3. Denis Kenzo & Kate Miles - Guide [#117] [this falling short of a Q makes sense but I maintain it's an absolute beauty and deserved more of a chance]

4. Tobtok ~ Aber [#87] [this one didn't even get remotely close to Qing bafflingly and every inferior Tobtok song sent before and since did better]

5. Tez Cadey ~ Seve [#66] [on its way to 300m on Spotify now which makes its DNQ seem incredibly baffling in hindsight! it was sent long before its peak popularity though which sure didn't help]

6. The Aston Shuffle vs. Tommy Trash ~ Sunrise (Won't Get Lost) [#53] [still the most surprising of our DNQs all these years later]

7. Steve Aoki, Chris Lake & Tujamo ~ Boneless [#60] [peak big room era track, Buzzjack really were out of step with the EDM community at large on this one]

8. Yolanda Be Cool - Afro Nuts (Dcup Remix) [#110] [big shame at its underperformance but I guess that's why I put off sending this for years in the first place]

9. Hugel - Morenita (feat. Cumbiafrica) [#140] [and I could have AQed with this if the coin flipped the other way]

10. Myst Milano - No Shade [#153] [easily the best of my trifecta of DNQs this year, could've done rather well in the final too I think but oh well]

Great:

11. Attlas & Colleen D'Agostino - Feels Like [#134]

12. Stone & Van Linden ~ Summerbreeze [#55]

13. Netsky ~ Love Has Gone [#49]

14. Vitalic ~ Tu Conmigo (feat. La Bien Querida) [#98]

15. Sub Sub (feat. Gill Jackson) - Southern Trees [#155]

16. RIOT - Overkill [#116]

17. Andromida - Paradox [#154]

Good:

18. Vassy - Trouble [#124]

19. Hogland - Letting Go (feat. Kiddo) [#147]

20. Antillas ~ Damaged (feat. Fiora) [#42]

21. Mr FijiWiji, Direct & Aruna ~ Time To Say Goodbye [#86]

22. Tiësto, Mark Alston, Baggi Begovic & Jason Taylor ~ Love and Run (feat. Teddy Geiger) [#58]

23. Mar ~ Man x Woman [#62]

24. BH ~ Hold On (feat. Aloma Steele) [#67]

25. Ace Marino - Spaces [#122]

Decent:

26. Radio Killer ~ Don't Let The Music End [#41]

27. Elena ~ Disco Romancing [#36]

28. Christina Novelli ~ Same Stars [#78]

29. Airsoul ~ Asia [#44]

Okay:

30. Christina Walls ~ Carry Me To Paradise [#43]

31. Adrian Lux ~ Burning (feat. Dante) [#47]

32. Andreea Banica ~ Could U [#48]

33. Oana Tache ~ Take Control [#46]

Really interesting reading people's thoughts! I'm glad I'm not alone in sometimes blindly expecting something to be a hit just because I'm blinkered by my own love for it and then the exact opposite happens. Of course, there are other times I send something I love that I think is a no-hoper and it does well.

Roba's VNV Nation song was a baffling one, the track that came 2nd was hardly leagues ahead of it in quality, yet this one couldn't make the final.

Dan, Home was such a lovely song, I remember giving it a few in the semi but it grew on me even more after that.

SS:

1. Feenixpawl, Sheco ft. Georgi Kay - Dreams (#153) [Decided to send it 8/9 months prior its 5th anniversary, knowing my previous Bigroom entry had decent results, also of course because of Georgi's fab vocals.]

2. Reality Club - Anything You Want (#152) [Giving the biggest indie-Nesia song at that time. Still loving this and almost reaching 52 weeks in my personal charts.]

3. Mayumi Itsuwa - Kokoro no Tomo (#147) [An absolute childhood classic. Most of us here know the lyrics it though it's a Japanese song. :music: Would predict it'd qualify if I sent it before Ed Sheeran released "÷"]

4. Wali - Yank (#155) [Also a classic. That's when fun & upbeat Indonesian music like this outpeaked the ballad & 'feeling blue' one.]

S:

5. Yo Hitoto, MASA, Masaaki Honma - SHENGLU -CIRCUIT- / SEIRO -CIRCUIT- (#140)

6. JaySic, TBR & Jawny Sparklez - Top Of The World (#138)

A:

7. Ghost Stories (D-Block & S-te-Fan) - Fallen Souls (#139)

B:

8. Neck Deep - Wish You Were Here (#144)

9. AZALEA (Nanami Kuon starring Lezel) - UNDERWORLD (#148)

10. Nowela Mikhelia ft. Epo D'Fenomeno - Runnin (#143)

C:

11. Re-Style ft. Cammie Robinson - One Last Dance (142) [not sure why I selected this as my first frenchcore representation. It's not even in my Top 100 of 2020. Thankfully, Sefa didn't end up like this.]

12. Lyodra, Andi Rianto - Sang Dewi (150) [sending this because I expected people would like her vocals & the orchestral productions. In the end, it's just a cover.]

I fully expected to see DJ Kent at #1 in your list Rich! (also 'Imali' is too low x)

Poor brave RHYME SO being written off as a novelty act and ranked below the handwashing song by uhsting as well ddd. I thought that was a really good debut entry! (and actually I voted for 'Bebe' too)

Interesting to read people's thoughts here, I've kept putting off making an updated ranking of my own entries due to the list being so long but a ranking of just the DNQs may be a little easier (especially as I'm privileged enough to be on a long Q streak so can be free of recency bias lol), think I may have a crack at it some time today x

I can say for sure though that my one DNQ that baffled me the most was Kadie Elder's 'Simple Guy', I really thought I may have been onto a second big hit in a row with that (coming right after Truls giving me my first top 3) but then it came 2nd from last in the semi <_< still think that's a brilliant song - not my favourite but would be ranked fairly highly - and they would go on to be redeemed by getting a top 10 hit for Singerpurear at least, albeit with a song I wasn't nearly as into.

Certainly would have been top of a rank of songs I felt were paid the most dust but that Sheppard song is way higher in my all-time top 40. A Grade Playa was never going to do much though, whereas Spin My World felt like it ought to have done! Spin My World was finally recently added to streaming and download platforms, but not the radio edit alas. Still, it's nice to have it on there.

Looking forward to seeing your list! And also the short lists from countries who have hardly any DNQs  Also interesting to see people's DNQ ratio - as I have had 24 DNQs in 155 contests, I have failed to make it into 1 in every 6.5 finals

Edited by gooddelta

I’ll do a full ranking and reflection later. I can understand a lot of the DNQs and mostly I’m unbothered by their failure to make the final. However, there are two in particular that I was (am) furious about DNQing.

The first is Natalie Bassingthwaighte‘s „Turn The Lights On“. It’s still one of the best ballads that has ever been entered into BJSC. It’s magnificent and it absolutely did not deserve to DNQ

The other is Tóxica by Sofía Martín. Fab, catchy dance-Pop track with a great beat and an ear worm chorus that I had pegged as my second Spanish winner. that’s how strongly I believed in it (and still do. It’s a wonderful song).

01 | 082 | Pixel Fix - You Settle Me (yeah, it only took like 4 years for people to finally “get it” and yet y’all still don’t fully get it)

02 | 131 | SICKOTOY x Misha Miller - Touché (and yet they qualified with everything else not sent by me…)

03 | 120 | Alok & Zafrir - Vale Vale (“Deep Down” becoming a hit in the dance charts last year was validation enough)

04 | 084 | Atlas Genius - Stockholm

05 | 121 | E^ST - Talk Deep

06 | 086 | Snow Tha Product - Nuestra Canción (and then I sent the record winning "Higher"...)

I think all of these have scrambled my brain enough to make me overthink the contest just to get back into everyone’s good graces bc “you’re only as good as your last performance”. I’m fairly convinced that I’ve only just recovered from SICKOTOY’s blindside

And then “Talk Deep” is only notable bc it gave me my first streak

BJSC 138: b.i.g.s.h.r.i.m.p (feat. Haley) - In Private - a very close DNQ this one but glad I sent it as it still hits the spot

This song has actually come on shuffle for me a few times recently btw and I still love it (and don't think it sounds like a DNQ at all) so glad to see you still hold it in high regard too!

Definitely agreeing with Dan on 'Aber' being much better than the other Tobtok entries too + The Aston Shuffle still stands out as one of the most surprising DNQs of all tarm

Certainly would have been top of a rank of songs I felt were paid the most dust but that Sheppard song is way higher in my all-time top 40. Fair then :magic: likewise the #1 on my list (spoiler / putting it in the thread here in case I don't get around to doing a full ranking: Yung Lean 'Kyoto') is one I sent with no expectation of doing particularly well, in fact I only sent it at all as a 'to hell with it' moment after being vetoed for the first and only time.

A bit off topic but this post has actually inspired me to do one of my periodic checks to see if any of my old entries missing / removed from Spotify have been added / re-added and indeed one has - Savage Skulls/Douster/Robyn 'Bad Gal' is finally available after years(?) of only a remix being on there *.* It has 252k streams so I presume it was available at some point in the past. Still 6 songs unavailable, at least 3 of those were on Spotify before but were removed a while ago, not really holding my breath for any of them to return (Ash Koosha might do at some point as his other music is still up, just that album gone, Skee Mask almost definitely won't as he's pretty explicitly anti-Spotify on social media these days, and Kids Of The Apocalypse disappointingly seem to have turned into a dodgy NFT project and pretended their old songs didn't exist). The other 3 are Deaf Club (band broke up a long time ago so probably never happening, sad as that's one of my favourite underrated entries), Jaymes Young (original song is on Spotify ofc but the remix was never meant to be an official commercial release afaia) and Dawn Richard (was always just a vinyl bonus track aside from having a music video on YouTube, idk if there would ever be the demand for her to make it more widely available, the album is 10 years old in a couple of years so I can pray for some kind of anniversary edition ) Oop at this list including 3 of my biggest hits!

I have 26 DNQs out of 134 entries so 19.4% (it was 23.6% before the start of my current Q streak *_*)

I still listen to this all the time. I agree with that, BJSC has sadly had a long time aversion to ballads by pop stars (singer/songwriter stuff sometimes does well).

Ooh this is a great idea!

Amazing, cruelly robbed etc:

145 │ El Columpio Asesino - Preparada (David Kano Remix)

I thought this was going to do better since I'd had some success with this sort of dark electronic sound at the time. Still a banger and I think it was one of my most streamed songs of last year!

Good:

148 │ Твоё далеко - Теперь не страшно

I don't listen to this much but I really like the vibe of it

Decent:

143 │ Dora Jar - Polly

This is still a cute lil pop song, I remember thinking I had a hit with this but obviously not lol, this got 9 points which is even less than 'Fist F*ck' 💀 I actually discovered this from an ATRL post where someone said it was the direction Katy Perry should take in her next era. Katy if you're reading this, don't listen to them x

142 │ Axolotes Mexicanos - Doble Check

This is kinda basic tbh, I can think of better examples of this sound. I have a few hyperpop potentials but I think they're a lot more fun than this!

Okay I can't blame you guys here:

154 │ Furfriend - Fist F*ck

What more is there to say x

Sovarasma era: 9/24 (37.5%)

My participation: 16/33 (48.5%)

My DNQ rate is quite high but I'm getting the hang of it x

My current DNQ rate is 27,7% (43 DNQs in 155 Contests)

Quite a high number of DNQs in raw numbers but it’s saved by my number of participations being the absolute maximum

I still listen to this all the time. I agree with that, BJSC has sadly had a long time aversion to ballads by pop stars (singer/songwriter stuff sometimes does well).

It’s sad how little appreciation a good ballad gets here. Tho admittedly I’m not finding as much of it out in my music discovery either

I think this was my first DNQ and it remains something I still quite enjoy to this day, although I believe it suffered through being in another language.

I'm not saying it's the best thing ever or anything but it's always sounded like a cross between Duran Duran and New Order to me so it should have been okay.

Oh and I also still love this even if nobody else did

I can't really recall what else I sent that DNQ'd if I'm honest ooops edit: ALTHOUGH did LAMB DNQ? If so, that was one of the biggest crimes of the entire contest tbh
