June 16, 20233 yr Author Shame that Thirty Seconds To Mars track didn't get A-listed. Strange for the Joel Corry track to be booted off after going just C-B-B, that's quite unusual. Surprised to see them add 'Baby Don't Hurt Me' at this late stage.

I can understand them keeping him if he was at #1 which he’s not and they’ve even removed songs whilst they’ve been at #1. He has peaked and will not go any higher than he has

Also 0800 Heaven on the playlist. Guess the inclusion of this sealed the fate of Joel's other song being axed (that and it's floppage).

I read something yesterday about the controversy of Radio 1 not playing her and it mentioned 4 Minutes was A-listed and then nothing more, which made it sound like they didn't playlist anything else ever. My mistake.

June 16, 20233 yr To be fair, Radio 1 made the right call to stop playlisting Madonna after Celebration, she had 3 decades at the top and the quality of her music nose dived after 2009, so for once I agree with them. Did Cold Heart get added, I can’t remember?
June 16, 20233 yr It’s pretty clear that Radio 1 don’t solely base their playlist on the chart. But their playlists do help the songs to gain popularity but also, if a song isn’t doing too well in the charts, they’ll tend to remove it
