I'm really hoping that Jester was behind Portishead as it'd be quite something to go from a 0 pointer to a potential winner *.*

New leader!!!

Saint Etienne is what I think I’d have expected to win from the outset as it’s so recognisable (and great).

Siouxsie and the Banshees were the first band to come into my head when this theme was announced - would've gone with them if I couldn't find anything obscure that I liked.

Thanks AH Gold for my highest points so far <3

Nah can we have Portishead back pls

The Siouxsie And The Banshees song was the one I was most excited for based on the names (well, along with Portishead) and did not disappoint, I didn't think this one was quiiite as great as their BJSC entry 'Cities In Dust' but still another good pick, nice one AH ~

Quite a few people going in a dream-pop/shoegazey (or otherwise generally chill) direction here, not complaining as I love that sound, All About Eve standing out the most for me from those <3

ARGH I really wasn't expecting anyone's 12 this time!! Thanks so much Dobbo  thrilled that you made a good discovery out of it.

Oh so these are not in order of receipt x

The whole 'female vocals' thing was admittedly quite incidental to my entry, I just Googled 'post-punk bands with female singers' and found something obscure and cool sounding from the very short list of bands on a last.fm results page that came up, half the song is instrumental and I don't know that the vocals really add that much to it :kink: (not that I dislike them, they do work well with the general moody lo-fi vibe, but I'd probably like the song just as much as an instrumental).

Funnily enough I think my song is also one that was unreleased at the time but later resurfaced via a random compilation, although it is their only song that's actually on Spotify (they did have a proper single release but that one is unavailable).

Nice to see that it did connect well with a few people anyway, thanks Julian for the bronze medal, !!! and Chez for 7 points each and Jade for a couple more mealworms, my points have totally dried up now so still could be heading for the very bottom of the scoreboard again after all despite a strong start in whatever order Addy is presenting these in, I do already have more points than my last entry got though and only need 3 more points to surpass my debut entry too
