June 30, 20233 yr Cruel Summer is such an ANTHEM! I can't believe Taylor didn't lead Lover (the album) with this track than the horrific ME! Hopefully it goes top 10 next week.
June 30, 20233 yr Author 11 | | 1st week Stormzy featuring Fredo Toxic Trait 1st single from forthcoming studio album Released: 23rd June 2023 Label: 0207 Def Jam Chart Statistics NE (06/07/2023) | 11 Sales: - Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 00 Sales 00 Audio Streaming 00 Video Streaming Video zXZIU7rvdYE Biography Grime attracts big personalities, but even by the genre’s imposing standards, Stormzy isn’t so much a rapper as a force of nature: a 6’5” lyrical whirlwind boasting a powerhouse voice and one of the most impressive ascents in pop music, stepping up to headline Glastonbury within five years of his debut EP. Born Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr. in 1993, Stormzy was still a boy when grime was in its infancy, and he came up battling fellow teens at youth centers in his native Croydon, London. By the time he was 20, he had launched his “WickedSkengMan” series, uploading freestyles over classic grime beats, and he swiftly developed a rep for his tough staccato flow and pugnacious attitude. Fittingly, Stormzy performed his 2015 single “Shut Up,” one of his earliest hits, at a heavyweight boxing match. “I set trends, dem man copy/They catch feelings, I catch bodies,” he raps on the song, and it’s true that when he throws down the gauntlet, he tends to make history: 2015’s “WickedSkengMan 4” was the first freestyle ever to break into the UK Top 40, and in 2017, his debut album, Gang Signs & Prayer, was the first grime album to go to No. 1 in the UK charts, 14 years after Dizzee Rascal’s Mercury Prize-winning Boy in da Corner first carved out a space in UK pop for the upstart underground genre. But Stormzy quicky proved himself interested in more than just besting his rivals, instead using his platform to become the voice of conscience for young and marginalized people across the UK. At Glastonbury 2017, he delivered a moving tribute to the victims of that summer’s Grenfell Tower fire; at the 2018 BRIT Awards, he aimed a scathing freestyle at Prime Minister Theresa May, whose government he accused of negligence after the fire. Musically, too, Stormzy has shown a willingness to push beyond grime’s traditional limits, dipping into R&B and gospel as he vacillates between taunts and introspection. “I would be a bit fake if I just gave you pure grime albums,” Stormzy told Apple Music. “I’m going to embrace my musicality because that is true to me as well. I love melody and I love R&B and I love pop music. Bruv, I’m going to do whatever I like.” - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Stormzy 2015 49 Know Me From -NAS- 2015 18 WickedSkengMan 4 -NAS- 2015 08 Shut Up -1- MILLIONAIRE 2015 49 Dude (Lethal Bizzle & Stormzy) 2017 06 Big For Your Boots -2- MILLIONAIRE 2017 21 Cold -3- 2017 22 Bad Boys (feat. June 30, 20233 yr Author Definitely an underwhelming debut for Stormzy, it's a pretty decent track and I'd take this over the boring Hide & Seek (albeit not really anything new for him)
June 30, 20233 yr Awwwwww, really sad to see this miss the top 10. Its a total banger and Alison Hammond slays in the video. What is not to like! At least Peggy is taking his place Edited June 30, 20233 yr by Y'all Starlight
June 30, 20233 yr Wow I can't believe Stormzy has missed the top 10. It seems like his last album did a lot of damage for his image :(.
June 30, 20233 yr that's a bit of an L for Stormzy, I was expecting at least top 5 for this based on the preview - his other throwaway release he put out during the week seemingly did nothing too. though to be fair the song's not as good as the Dave and J Hus tracks at the top of the chart so that probably went against it somewhat. not that fussed on Cruel Summer myself still.
June 30, 20233 yr Kylie beating a new Stormzy single to the top 10 after being in it for 3 weeks. This is too surreal for words!!
June 30, 20233 yr Nice jump for Taylor there. Peggy and Hannah both top 10 together now yass and Kylie still top 10 of course :cheer:
June 30, 20233 yr Author 10 | 08 | 6th week Kylie Minogue Padam Padam 1st single from Tension Released: 18th May 2023 Label: Kylie Minogue / Darenote Chart Statistics NE (09/12/2021) | 26-23-12-9-8-10 Sales: 70k+ Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 01 Sales 14 Audio Streaming 08 Video Streaming Video p6Cnazi_Fi0 Biography Australia’s biggest pop icon is a master of shape-shifting, with a silvery voice that adapts to spunky novelty dance tracks as well as sleek synth-pop and a theatrical bent that turns her live shows into spectacles. Born in Melbourne in 1968, Kylie Minogue got her start in acting, debuting on the soap opera Neighbours in her teen years and almost immediately becoming one of the nation’s most beloved television actors. A benefit performance led to the release of her first single, a cover of Little Eva’s “The Loco-Motion,” in 1987; it became a hit in Australia, and her 1988 re-recording of it, helmed by the superproducer team Stock Aitken Waterman, was a worldwide smash. The new version was included on her 1988 debut, Kylie, a collection of frothy pop highlighted by the sparkling “I Should Be So Lucky.” Minogue continued her relationship with SAW until the 1993 release of Kylie Minogue, which was recorded with club-oriented producers including M People and Brothers In Rhythm. Her aesthetic matured during the ’90s, both in her solo work and on the Nick Cave duet “Where the Wild Roses Grow.” In 2001, the slick “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” blew up in clubs and on the radio, and its accompanying album, Fever, featuring the buoyant “Love At First Sight” and the sinuous “Come Into My World,” re-established Minogue as a pop force. She later worked with pop gurus like Stuart Price and Greg Kurstin on tracks such as the sumptuous “All the Lovers” and the peppy “Wow,” flirted with country and disco, indulged her art-house side in films like Holy Motors, and embarked on ambitious tours that showcased her flair for the dramatic—and her long-honed ability to captivate audiences. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 1988 01 I Should Be So Lucky -1- 1988 02 Got To Be Certain -2- 1988 02 The Loco-Motion -3- 1988 02 Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi -4- 1988 01 Especially For You (Kylie Minogue & Jason Donovan) MILLION SELLER 1989 01 Hand On Your Heart -1- 1989 02 Wouldn't Change A Thing -2- 1989 04 Never Too Late -3- 1990 01 Tears On My Pillow -4- 1990 02 Better The Devil You Know -1- 1990 04 Step Back In Time -2- 1991 06 What Do I Have To Do? -3- 1991 06 Shocked -4- 1991 16 Word Is Out -1- 1991 04 If You Were With Me Now (Kylie Minogue & Keith Washington) -2- 1991 49 Keep On Pumpin' It (Visionmasters feat. June 30, 20233 yr A great run of songs in the 12-15 slots this week which will make the continuingly mid top 10 that bit more annoying. (Although I've not heard either the Peggy Gou or Stormzy songs yet) Excellent to see the solid new peak for Stephen even if still not top 10, expect it'll be making its way out pretty quickly again now but it's nice to see the impact of an inspired choice of surprise guest in Elton's Glastonbury set, plus meaning the song's peak now definitely wasn't because of autoplay lol. Hopefully 'Cruel Summer' and '0800 HEAVEN' are still top 10 bound in the next week or two, I can keep dreaming for 'Little Things' but am getting the sense that has now peaked.
June 30, 20233 yr Kylie beating a new Stormzy single to the top 10 after being in it for 3 weeks. This is too surreal for words!! 2023 has been surreal musically. I just can't take it :cheeseblock: PADAM PADAM
June 30, 20233 yr There was never a chance this would climb this week... but that doesn't mean it's over!!!
June 30, 20233 yr Never thought I'd see a Peggy Gou song in the top 40 let alone top 10, amazing for her :cheeseblock: Also happy that 'Cruel Summer' has connected with so many now! I remember it being my instant 2nd favourite from Lover only behind 'The Man'.

During the 2010s, she became internationally renowned for energetic DJ sets, which dreamily flow through various styles of techno, house, and electro. A 2019 volume of the DJ-Kicks series demonstrated her eclectic approach. Her own tracks, such as the acclaimed 2018 single "It Makes You Forget (Itgehane)" and 2021's "I Go," are vibrant, joyous productions that echo vintage deep house and post-disco without sounding like throwbacks. Gou seemed to appear out of nowhere in 2016, releasing no less than four 12" EPs of bright, slightly hazy house tracks during the course of the year. In actuality, she had been producing and DJing for several years -- she learned to beatmatch in Korea in 2009 and resumed the hobby a couple years later, when she was attending the London College of Fashion. After racking up gigs during the next few years, as well as moving to Berlin, she made her breakthrough in 2016, releasing two Art of War EPs on Radio Slave's Rekids imprint, "Day Without Yesterday" on Phonica White, and Seek for Maktoop on Technicolour. She also played dozens of gigs across the globe, including dates with Moodymann, the Blessed Madonna, Jackmaster, and others. Following an even busier 2017, which included her first American tour and a month-long BBC Radio 1 residency, Gou returned to the studio. Her Once EP was released by Ninja Tune in 2018, led by "It Makes You Forget (Itgehane)," a catchy single featuring Gou's Korean-language vocals. "Travelling Without Arriving" was issued by Phonica White soon afterward. In 2019, Gou released the two-song Moment EP on her own Gudu Records, as well as her first mix CD, a volume of !K7's long-running DJ-Kicks series. She was featured on "Jigoo," the lead track from Maurice Fulton's Gudu-issued Earth EP, in 2020. The following year, Gou released the downtempo single "Nabi" (featuring OHHYUK) and the electro-disco tune "I Go." - Spotify Top 100 Chart History 2023 09 (It Goes Like) Nanana -1- 0 x #1 | 0 x Top 5 | 1 x Top 10 | 1 x Top 20 | 1 x Top 40 | 1 x Top 100 Social Media Peggy Gou http://i.imgur.com/1SERq1f.png
